    100% virgin polycarbonate

    Whew.

      For now…

Don't risk installing these by yourself, get an electrician to do it for you.

    • USB Output : DC 5V/2.1A

    Total output or each port?

    • It is 2.1A total between the two ports.

So barely enough power to charge a modern phone much less a tablet? Nice price but the power is barely adequate. Would be better if it was 2.1 amp per port then it would be good.

        • Agreed

        • If you only charge the tablet and don't use the other socket, it will work fine (?)

          2 tablet or 2 phones?

        • +2

I charge my phone at work using the USB port on the computer.

These are enough to charge your device.

It's not going to fast charge obviously but more than enough to charge over a few hours.

        • +2

The ports are adequate given that you use it to charge devices overnight, such as a smartwatch, Bluetooth speaker, small PowerBank, etc. These USB ports are there for convenience rather than being a substitute for power bricks. Though, I do agree with you, I would have preferred 2.1A per port had it been feasible at this price point.

  • Will it fit in the existing slot.

    • It should fit.

      • Depends on the depth of the hole in the wall, standard plasterboard installs will be ok but if the house is old and double brick you may need a deeper receptacle or a spacer plate.

  • How much do sparkies usually charge per installation of one of these sockets?

    • +2

You could get between $75 and $150 I would say. Its mostly callout fee because it takes them a minute to change it over. Would be better if you bundled it up with any other electrical work you need done at the same time. I would not call out a sparky for a single outlet.

  • are there 15watt versions of these?

    • There is no 15A version at the moment unfortunately.

  • Hi Op
Are the usb ports "always on" or are they connected to the respective 3 point sockets so need to be switched on to deliver power? (do they work with all switches off?)
    Thanks on advance

    • Hey, the USB ports are always on, and not connected to the switches.

      • +1

Thanks Op, bought one so my Alexa isn't hogging a socket!

    • +1

In my experience they are always on, OP can confirm.
The quiescent current draw of these will be minimal.

FYI - 'Quiescent current' = The term given to describe the amount of current consumed by a circuit when it is not performing any work.

      • Yup, you are completely right. The idle power draw is something that will be barely noticeable, so really nothing to worry about.

Just checking, are these better in regards to the USB current ? - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-x-Twin-Switched-USB-Power-Poin…

  • QC 3 or bust!

  • Tah. The rate at which I lose chargers is pretty high, so this should do the trick.

  • Why is there a limit of only 2 per order?

    • Due to Amazon's auto protection feature, customers were limited to 2 per order. This has now been raised to 4 per order.

    Thanks. Ordered a few
