Yep, some of the rarer versions have cleared $400.
And I think $30 is a fair price. These were originally a Japanese only release (20th anniversary) and they're selling for $100+
Which ones cleared $400?? I bought a version 3 and version 5 in 1998, I wonder how much they are worth??
@Homr: You can check yourself. Probably a lot. With the anniversary Japan went nuts over them, I remember seeing them for ~$50 at second hand shops, last year $200+.

Yeah used to use the plastic tab all the time. I was too young to understand exactly what I was doing (seems like constantly resetting) but somehow you could end up with an ultimate digimon.
Now that I think about it, I don't even know if you could get them legitimately (if you could somehow raise your digimon to evolve into it). I just remember looking after it, it dying then rinse and repeat.

I did that and I always ended up getting the "poo" digimon
I remember the glitch on Pokémon for Game Boy, if follow certain steps & you went back and forth in a particular spot, eventually the screen goes black and the game makes weird screeching noises, then a wild ‘MissingNo. (missing number)’ appears.
And it is a weird glitched out creature that looks like this (warning viewer discretion advised).
Kind of slightly terrifying for a kid, and now as an adult, as this is probably what will be ruling over human reproduction and education in the near future.

I wouldn't pin it on inflation. It's definitely a collectable/retro/rerun/branding price hike. The electronics in these wouldn't have cost $10 to make back in the day, let alone now. They probably saw what they go on ebay for so did a rerun for a similar price.
We can buy electronics far more complex than this for cheaper. Mice, keyboards, steam link when on sale.
I'm glad I still have one of my old ones sitting in a box. I even customized the background and mixed and matched casing using friends units.

I used to battle and as soon as we connected we'd run away from each other to see if it still worked so far away haha as a kid I guess we thought it had some kind of signal still going to the two devices

Just an FYI, each colour device has a different ultimate available to it. Maybe worth looking into before buying :)

Seeing this on FB yesterday actually made my day. This device holds a very special place in my formative years and I'm really stoked everyone else is just as keen. All I want is a Mamemon to shoot cherry bombs at ya'll!
I still have both of mine! Wonder if they're compatible with these new ones. Which versions are these? I remember there was v1, v2, v3 etc. Each had a different digimon to raise.

Some key points:
- The device is a modified Japanese Digital Monster Ver.20th (DM20)
- The first major change is that everything is in English
- Most major features of the DM20, including raising two digimon at once and selecting between multiple eggs are still included

Ah damn, I was so excited for this but I was out of the country and missed it. Anyone have anywhere left that can order it? I called both eb and jb and both said its completely pre-sold out. No gametraders over here in W.A either.
I reckon you will have plenty chance to grab one when they are released in early July.
The eb I called up said they had 20-30 calls in the last few days about them, think they might end up in high demand. Luckily ebgames New Zealand still has them in stock, so I pre-ordered there to a friend and if more come out I`ll cancel it and grab here
JB removed the webpage for the product. Previously it was showing stock back in sometime in July.
Just got an email from JB saying that my brown one is awaiting courier pickup. No mention of the other 3 colours that were ordered together.

I've received mine from Big W yesterday after preordering weeks ago. Unsure if I want to open it or sell it for profit. Kicking myself for not ordering more, then I could have sold the others and kept one for myself!
IMO they are only worth $5-10 not $34+P+H
