Blade Runner 2049 (Movie) $9.99 (Buy) 4K on Google Play Store

230

One of the best sequels in recent times and also a gorgeous movie to look at. Now available in 4K HDR digital copy from Google Play store for $9.99. Weirdly part of some Dark Universe list of discounted movies which has some other movies that aren't part of the Universal Dark Universe. Best price I've seen for 4K copy.

Edit:
Also available Venom 4K HDR for $14.99 to buy.

    Loathed this film.

Not worth hating imo (even given the legacy) but it was deeply disappointing.

  • As a true fan of the original movie back in the time, this sequel was so disappointing that I literally stopped watching half way through.

    • So you upvoted cos…?

loropy9 might not like the movie, but doesn't mean they can't upvote a good deal

I upvoted the OP. He did a good job. The producers of the movie didn’t.

I'd suggest giving it a second try. like the original had a deeper theme about how humans will eventually be able to manufacture artificial humans, this movie has a theme about artificial intelligence. I thought having Harrison Ford in the movie was unnecessary though, he's not important for the story.

I'm not a fan of the original, I really preferred the Director's Cut and the Final Cut versions and I'd say the Final Cut is my favourite movie of all time, I really liked the 2049 movie, except the Wallace (Jared Leto) scenes.

I watched them back to back, loved both. Great movies.

I loved it. And Blade Runner is a Top 3 movie of all time for me.
Tempted to buy this on the Play Store even though I've got it on UHD just so they get more money! Need more intelligent sci-fi.

Thanks OP, I'm with you, great sequel.

The original Bladerunner was my top 3.

The sequel is up with my best as well.

    Loved it.

  • Can someone explain how this works?

Do you guys download the digital copy after purchase?? Wouldn't a digital copy of a 4K movie be huge? Surely must be more than 50G????

    • A compressed 4K movie, it will not look as good as a 4K Blu-Ray, but it will still look good.

  • Watching paint dry would be faster than that movie.

    • Only if it’s aerosol, pretty well anything out of a tin’ll take more than a couple hours to dry.

    • I guess if you like watching paint dry like yourself, this movie would not be something that would interest you.

  • There is also Bram Stokers Dracula 4K $6.99 and Chappie 4K $6.99. Dark Tower 4K $9.99 and Underworld : Blood Wars 4K $9.99
Close Encounters of the third kind directors cut 4K $16.99

  • VHS-DVD-HD was a big jump for me, UHD/4k seems hugely unnecessary for the consumer but people are snapping up screens regardless of availability. Locally I've been picking up decent Tv's chucked out of people's houses thay still work

    • Your threshold for "still works" is just lower than what others are, that's all. Those that value 4k probably value picture quality - of which old TV's are not great for.

      You aren't wrong, I don't think.

I think it depends on the source material, what it was originally recorded on. If it was filmed on 35mm film, or digitally recorded at 2K or lower, then 4K movies won't look that much better than 1080p / Blu-Rays. You can't polish a turd as the say. While 4K digital images scanned from 65mm and 70mm film, or recorded digitally in 4K with HDR consideration from the beginning can look amazing on a 4K TV with HDR.

It also depends on the process used, as some Blu-Rays look bloody awful since they processed them terribly. The 4K UHD Blu-Rays can utilise 10bit and 12bit colours for the Red, Blue and Green, instead of 8bit for HD Blu-Rays, so colour depth is greatly increased.

So when the right movie is processed well and watched on a 65"+ 4K HDR screen, you should be able to see the difference.

4K pretty much just means you can sit closer to the TV. But some people think it makes a difference even if the human eye can't see the resolution difference.
