I just took mine to samsung to replace the smashed screen for $280… could have almost replaced it :(

On the bright side, while the smashed screen stopped responding to touch, the smart pen stylus kepg working so i was still able to get everything backed up and erases properly etc, relief!

At least insurance will cover above excess.

      Good to know that.

  • Is this fully covered by Samsung Australia warranty?

    • +2

      According to their web site:
This product is covered by the Customer Charter and comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

      This product also comes with a manufacturer warranty;

      2 Year Samsung Warranty (Included)
You can also purchase 3 Year Extended Care including Mishap Protection.

  • Using UAG case, my Samsung S8 screen is fine even falling from top shelf twice.

    • Most likely the smaller screen size to an S8 Plus and Note 8 makes a little more break proof.

Be mad to buy from kogan when JB is same price.

"Kogan.com beats Apple as most complained about company"

      https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/kogan-com-beats-ap…

      • +3

It’s pretty inaccurate to list number of complaints. Should be complaints as a ratio of overall customer base. 39 people complaining about a company out of millions of customers is good, but 39 people out of say thousand customers is pretty bad

      Totally agreed.

The only reason I purchased from kogan this time was coz I was looking to utilize my gift cards which I had purchased at 10% discount.

Kogan have also pulled out of Shipster and from the email that I received recently shipster itself is on the path to EOL.
Who would be crazy enough to pay kogan first fees. Especially ozbargainers including me.

Less shopping on kogan for me unless its an ozbargain deal

I got the note 9 dual sim for a 100 bucks more. I personally don't know anyone who has used their Samsung warranty, except for smashed screens etc… Which arennot covered under warranty, only insurance. Dual sim too, will easily save me 100 a year on data charges. Most reviews say it's not worth upgrading from an 8 to a 9… But it is worth paying a premium for a 9 over an 8.

    2 cents worth.

    • $800 for local stock? link please. I also want to get one

      • +1

Nope it's an Import, search on here, an eBay deal from MyMobile. Took under a week to come, from Qld.

    • I used my Samsung warranty last year when my battery/system board just suddenly died for no reason.

    • can u elaborate on saving 100 a year on data charges with dual sim?

      • +1

Yeah, I use about 30 to 40gb a month data. I keep a 99 dollar aldi as Amy main number, so telstra network service, and associated decent reception (probably go boost this year for the same.) . Second sim is whatever cheap ass sim cards are for sale on here, thrown out monthly at an average cost of less than 10$ for 40gb.

When I travel, I use a local sim. It's always cheaper than roaming charges. You can do this porting your number with a single sim, but if anything goes wrong, you might lose your main number/not have any access for a period.

Just claimed warranty on my wife's note 9. Her screen started flickering.

Warranty is not lip service. Every single Samsung flagship phone that my wife had in last 5 years, she's had minimum 1 warranty claim for each phone.

That's how bad Samsung's stuff is. Yet they're well liked, beats me.
