  • No direct link to save the offer?

  • on discount chemist gift card?

    • Also interested in knowing if they sell.

      • +1

They do sell gift cards. I just bought one with $100 loaded onto it. No immediate email from Amex stating you’ve taken advantage of promo with $20 rebate yet. I’m confident it will eventually come through though.

        • Did you buy in store or online?

        • I haven't been getting immediate emails from AMEX lately. Maybe they changed their system?

          • @clx: Nah I got an immediate email on the DJs vivid spend and save, but didn’t get one when I spent $101 at CW 20 minutes after.

            • @midlake: I haven't gotten a single one of my Deliveroo ones :(. Good to know the DJs one works. Will give that a go.

            • @midlake: Edit : sorry deleting my comment as it is irrelevant to this discussion

        • Any luck with the gift card purchase?

statement credit offer on The Iconic as well: spend $200 get $30 back

  • Can't afford drugs or cosmetics.

    • +3

      Sounds like an inherent choice

      • I see what you did there lol

  • I didn't think chemist warehouse accepted Amex?

    • +6

they do now, along with Ikea

      • +17

Which is why they have these statement credits, to try and bring awareness that they now accept Amex

    • +5

They used to slap you in the face if you asked to pay by Amex at CW. And they would vigorously point to the terminal showing the cards accepted. The terminals were always gritty and dirty; now they accept Amex the terminals (at least the 2 locations I have been in) are upgraded and new.

They used to slap you in the face if you asked to pay by Amex at CW.

        I actually pictured that lol

Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor.
….. looks like purchases made via ShopBack or Cash Rewards won't get you the $20 cashback?

  • Wonder if "Excludes PBS subsidised products" will be as well enforced as Excludes Apple/Dyson/Gift Cards on the other Statement Credit deals.

    • I doubt it will unless they have updated their systems to know what u are buying ! like with gift cards, always through

    • +1

As far as I'm aware the CWH point of sale systems wouldn't be able to tell. My guess is that it's just CWHs blanket rule with any promotions but in this case it won't matter.

Also check with your local store if they accept AMEX first, as there may be some that don't.

  • Slightly off topic. They accept AMEX probably because points ain't as good as it used to be so has anyone done any assessment why in post April AMEX would still be better than say any $1 to 1 point credit cards?

    • +2

1.25 qff pts for $1 for westpac Amex

    • +1

2 points per dollar on Amex Reserve card for most regular transactions like Chemist Warehouse or IKEA. 1 point per $ for Government transactions.

3 points per Dollar on David Jones Amex for Coles, Woolworths, Harris Farm, Shell, BP, Caltex etc.

      • DJs Amex?

Is it 2 "DJ Amex" points or standardized Amex points now?

        • Still DJs Amex points. It costs more points to redeem for DJs gift cards/points to use on DJs online too.

Source: I have a DJs Amex

      • I have a companion platinum reserve card to my platinum card. Is the reserve card not subject to the April changes? ie it still earns 3 points for restaurants, 2 points for travel and 1 point for everything else?

        • Platinum Reserve now gets 2 points per $ at restaurants.

25k card limit… Feel sorry for the peeps in WA lol

I’m sure this will be capped out in the early hours of this morning!

    • Exactly what happened! Email came in, clicked, and deal had reached max registration. People always forget we are 2-3 hours behind.

  • Do they sell gift cards?

  • +2

woohoo I can finally smell like David Beckham's toilet!

  • How can they work out if you're buying a whole bunch of PBS medication?

Seems odd that it is excluded.

    • +1

I don’t think technically it’s possible for Amex to identify on what products have been purchased.

Best way is to buy gift card(not sure if CW sells one) and use them.

    • +4

Chemists aren’t allowed to discount government subsidised medicine (by more than $1). Amex or CW might be worried that this statement credit could be seen as doing that, which might be why they’re making the (probably) ineffective attempt to exclude them from the promotion.

  • Thx for the post, literally just about to head into the shop and grab some protein when I saw the post. Instant savings, gotta love the perfect timing.

      User name checks out

  • Unable to enrol manually, even on desktop!

  • Credit will be applied to your Card Account after 30/06/2019. OMG. Any longer.

  • +2

You need to login to Amex and the offers are down the bottom of the page.

  • +1

I saw this offer on the Amex app on my iPhone, and signed up for it there. No sign up link necessary… at least not for me.

    • Same for me!

  • Unable to enrol manually. How can I enrol this offer???

    • Not manual way apparently - Amex must have closed the loophole as offers are supposed to be targeted - I only got this on one of my never used Amex cards, not on my every-day-used Amex card - shame.

      • Received and accepted this offer on both Explorer and Ultimate

  • Offer came up in my app. Thank you :)

  • Eligible for online orders?

  • -1

I just purchased quite a bit online last night. Wonder if it will be eligible since I’ve just registered for the promotion this morning.

    • unlikely… from experience, you will have to be registered for the promotion at the time of purchase. Most people get an email confirming the cashback shortly after making a qualifying purchase. Please let us know if you somehow managed to get the cashback =)

  • Funny how the credit will be applied after the promotion finishes.

Hate for this to be the day when Amex has worked out how to exclude gift card purchases without any of us being able to report back.

    • Though T&C doesn’t say Gift card excluded

    • Isn't this so they can see if you returned anything?

  • Direct link didn't work for me. But I did go on the app, refreshed the offers page and it appeared.

  • Tried and it reached the limit.
Unfortunately the maximum number of Card Members have already enrolled in this offer. Please visit http://www.amexoffers.com.au for other fabulous offers.
    :(

    • I got the email, clicked it immediately and got the same message. So basically no chance to enrol by responding to their direct marketing… 🤔

      • ozbargained?

    • +1

      me too

pathetic, less than an hour after receiving their email

  • I got this:

Unfortunately the maximum number of Card Members have already enrolled in this offer. Please visit http://www.amexoffers.com.au for other fabulous offers.

  • Anyone received an email confirming their purchase from AMEX yet?

  • +1

fark missed out on registering my card

    • Gotta be quick with the best Amex offers. I’m always about 10 minutes too late.

      • +1

Yeah I was asleep at the time. lol

  • +2

Darn this reached the limit super fast! And it's not a 5000 limit. 25000 is pretty large card limit but still not enough lol

Missed out when I didn't check my email. I need ozbargain chip permanently installed in my brain

They need to stop releasing these deals at 4am.

Anyone planning to get chemist warehouse gift cards ?
I got 4 cards thinking to go store to get their gift cards to use for later.
Hope it works with credit ..

    • Is there any gift cards instore..?

    • Has anyone confirmed the rebate from purchasing GC?

      • Bought a pack of Telfast and top up with $80 gift card, no confirmation email received :(

    • I got a gift card earlier today and waiting for the email

      • Bought $104 of items online from Chemist Warehouse website and no confirmation email yet. Charged by epharmacy..

        • Yeah same here. Spent $100 and charged by epharmacy but no email or push notification

      • Didn't receive the email but when I log into my account is says offer redeemed

  • -2

Got it. Now just need to find some medicine to buy.

  • +1

I successfully registered for this deal. Made a purchase online at Chemist Warehouse for just over $100 of products, usually I would get an email immediately from AMEX confirming they the deal had been triggered and would receive the $20 credit, but this time I did not receive any email from AMEX. Anyone else had this "problem"?

  • ffs missed the offer

  • Thanks great offer.

  • Registered in the morning, got the email, then went and spent over $100 instore.
No email, but noted the transaction is still showing as pending status.

    • Same. Also says offer redeemed on the app.

      • +1

Same, Bought something in store on 30/05, no email & no credits. Offer moved to 'Redeemed' section on the app today.

The below statement is unusual when compared to prev Amex offers, where they mention Credit Received with in 90 days.

Credit will be applied to your Card Account after 30/06/2019. You should receive your credit by 31/07/2019, but it may take up to 90 days from the offer end date. If you have not received your Credit by 31/07/2019 please contact American Express.

I have a feeling that transactions get reconciled in July after which the credits will be applied.

P.S: Good thing is Gift card purchases are not excluded from the Terms, although it doesn't matter even if they mentioned it.
Just makes the case stronger when contacting Amex with a receipt.

        • Given the delay do you think they will do some extra validation on transactions to exclude PBS items?

Usually it is a fairly quick process to apply a credit.

  • I bought $100 CW gift card today, still not been charged yet, not shown in the Amex app as well, my last transaction at CW last week was almost instant. I think there is some problem with their POS. My last gift gift wasnt activated even next day when I try to use it, lucky I got the receipt with, so they fixed it up.

  • Registered my amex on 28 May, got confirmation email was registered. Spent over $100 on 01 Jun, no email confirmation come through, no credit received yet. I doubt the credit might come through on 31 Jul per terms.
