  • that was quick!

  • aren't the codes unique ???

    • +1

Not for the first Wednesday of each month free deal. Code is generic.

  • Do you need to join first to use it? do you do this online?

(i'm getting sick of Quickflix… they take ages to mail out the next dvd)

    • +1

there is nothing for you to join.
Simply walk up to the machine, choose your movie, type the code, swipe your credit card.

  • Got an email this morning saying my local Oovie machine was saying goodbye to the neighborhood :(

    • where ?

  • bad title

  • so 2 emails and 2 credit cards means 2 movies ?
3 emails and 3 credit cards means 3 movies ?

    • It seems to be based on credit cards rather than e-mail addresses

and its for each machine, so you can do the whole thing again in another location

and you can return to the one location

I pick up some from my local machine, and another lot on the way home from work

      • so you use multiple cards using your same email ?

        • The e-mail address is used for online reservation (e-mail address plus the last four digits of your credit card) and for a receipt of the DVD you just hired.
You can use multiple credit cards at the one machine using the same code.

        • sounds odd, but I think so

the first couple of times I used to know which card/e-mail went together

then I lost track, and just put in any e-mail

it did not seem to care if it was different/same

just make sure its valid, as thats where the receipt/notification of return gets sent

        • Cool… i've got 3 credit cards, might try it tomorrow…

    • I think it is based on the machines as I am able to get 2 dvds from 2 machines (one each) in my area with the same code and same credit card.

      • You appear to be correct.

You can get FREE weekly rental from RedRoomDVD every Tuesday
    30/5/11 code is RED237

    • no way, that is so cool! Oh what a pity I couldn't check the net earlier today, I was at the only local shopping centre today that has a RedRoom dvd in my area. Oh well, next week. Is it the same as oovie, just swipe your credit card and away you go?

    • How did you get this promo code? There is no mention of this at all on their website.

  • +1

It's good to see honest people still renting DVDs instead of just downloading them for free and in high definition .

    • I agree, it's good to be able to rent movies for free, and if they're good enough, go and buy a copy or keep renting it for free over and over whenever you feel like watching it again

  • My Oovie is also closing down :( It used to be one free weekly and then they went to one free monthly. Too many OB'ers maybe?

    • No.

Just not profitable at your location.

  • Went to use the code just then at the Spring Hill, Brisbane machine, but it said my credit card was declined (even though i used it min's before), so maybe this is there way of saying 'no more free hire movies at this machine'. Sucky :(
BTW: The code worked, but just couldn't get the movie

ou cannot use a Prepaid VISA card.

You cannot use a AMEX card.

You cannot use a Diners Club card.

      • i just used my Amex card today and it worked fine

and my visa, and my mastercard… :)

      • I have a VISA (just a normal credit card), apprently there 'could' have been a block on my account (for no apparent reason), so its been lifted now, conveniently after the deal ended. Oh well, will try next month!

  • love it

  • GOSFORD, NSW CENTRAL COAST, 2250 TERMINAL HAS BEEN REMOVED!

Closest is Newcastle, 2 hours away!

    What a scam!

Also, your credit card must have a "Name" field. They pull your Full Name from the plastic strip on your credit card (you can see this when you log in to your account via the WWW site).

If it is a Prepaid card, you cannot borrow a movie, as your "Name" field is {NULL}. (I tried with a Woolworths Prepaid Mastercard, and it failed)

And how much do they charge you if you do not return the movie at all, after 30 consecutive days?

$40 like Red Room does, or more?

    • Found it:

      http://www.oovie.com.au/terms-conditions.html

      Section 10:

Return your movie within 14 days, or they will automatically and without further warning charge $36 to your credit card.

      • Note: It isn't $36 + rental fee. It's just a flat $36.
        Rental is $3 a day,
So if you rent it for 12 days,
        it will be $36.
Which means, you technically own the dvd and do not have to return it.
The reason why it says 14 days are:
        1) some machines have $1.99 rentals.
        2) There is 1 day free when you use above promo code.

        • Which means, you technically own the dvd

you don't 'technically' own it, you 'actually' own it… it says so in the T&C's…

after 14 days the dvd is yours to keep and the max you will be charged is $36…

    • What a scam!

so you reckon they deliberately get you to borrow a movie, then remove the machine so you have to buy it because it's too hard to return ???

      lol

      • No.

I reckon taking the machine away from GOSFORD, NSW is a scam!

        They should have left it!

        SCAM!

  • No-Mine warned that it would be going in a week's time and you would be able to return movies for that period but not hire any.
