  • OP what do you mean by, 'brand new warranty replacement'?

  • Hi you say 80 units warranty replacements does that mean 80 units have failed and been replaced that seems a lot of failures. Are these in unopened boxes.

  • Great deal and great laptop. Really happy… except I've got a dead pixel centre left of the screen. Anyone know if that is covered under the dell warranty? I just finished setting everything up :|

    • +1

For anyone wanting to know it's not covered under dell warranty. Must have more than 6 dead pixels or 1 bright pixel.

      • Mate that's bad luck I would be peed off buying a new laptop and having a dead pixel and when you know it's there your eyed get drawn to it.

    • How long does it take to turn on the laptop? do you think it the speed slow compare to Mac book air?

      • How long does it take to turn on the laptop? do you think it the speed slow compare to Mac book air?

5-10 seconds from power button to ready to be usable (Cold boot from complete power off)
        It's got an SSD inside.
Macbook air doesn't have any usable IO (interface/ports)

  • Bugger, sold out before I had a chance to speak to the Mrs about buying this for her. Any idea if/when you'd get more I stock?

    • I'm a dhead as well waited to long now all gone will have to put up with my $240 Celeron with 2gb ram a bit longer.

  • I ended up getting one and it arrived. Better than I expected and brand new and sealed. This was a good bargain. Ended up being a cheap upgrade and also decided to buy 16GB, 1TB and a dock to keep me going for another 5-7 years.

    • Do you think the speed is good? how long does it take to open the laptop after set up?

      • The thing absolutely screams. I am coming from an i5-3300 with 16GB (2013) and 512GB SSD (installed 2018) and I can't believe how much faster the whole experience is. Even just basic stuff like browsing the Internet the pages render a whole heap faster.

I'm pretty happy with it. I don't really turn the computer off, just let it sleep so it's pretty much instant. If you do boot it's like a few seconds, but it's a metric I don't really care about or use.

It was a cheap deal - adding the extra RAM and NVme was a net cost of $200. Windows 10 Pro I was able to get by using an old Windows 7 Pro key I had.

  • Hi

I also have purchased this PC. Unfortunately, mine only came with a 45Whr battery.

In terms of Dock you seen this:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-TB16-K16A-3GMVT-Thunderbolt…

Can get it for $180 brand new. Only issue is our unit is not Thunderbolt 3, not sure if there is a compatiability issue.

    Other option is
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/223162932949?ViewItem=&item=2231…).

    Let me know your thoughts

  • In case anyone was wondering, I contacted Dell Support and got quoted for $300 an extra year of extended warranty.
The call rep originally stated $350.
