Mmmmmmm

A special thanks to the OzBargain community for the amazing support received following our 1st deal. We're backing that up with a new deal, specifically on our top-selling product, Beauty and the Beef (Barbecue Beef Rub). Beauty and the Beef is salt free, sugar free and made of 100% premium herbs and spices.

Beauty and the Beef was designed for beef but is good enough on all types of meat. Like all Spice Source rubs, you won’t find added salt. Only natural herbs and spices have been blended to the perfect degree to create Beauty and the Beef. The resulting blend is capable of holding meat juices while penetrating to spread flavour. For best results, use this rub as a paste comprising equal parts rub and water; pour and rub onto dry brined meat just before cooking. The paste liquids fills the gaps on meat’s surface with flavour whilst aiding browning and crust formation.

About SpiceSource.com.au

Spice Source is Australian-based and new to the barbecue dry rubs scene but have a great range of well blended, salt-free (and occasionally sugar-free) rubs usually containing only herbs/spices (2-3 rubs include sugar for bark/texture).

Most other commercial rubs are filled with salt, but Spice Source have kept salt away from theirs so that you're not wasting money on salt which is already cheap, to avoid doubling up on salt (e.g. salt from dry-brining vs salt from other rubs) and/or to control your salt intake.

  • Any deals on a pork or chicken rub?

Do way more pulled pork, ribs and chicken than brisket :)

    • +1

Not at this point bud, but give Beauty and the Beef a go on other meats including pork - it's a versatile rub!

  • Do you have a rub that I can put on steak to make it like I've cooked it on chargrill?

I can never replicate this living in my inner city apartment.

    • Maybe a little liquid smoke and a cast iron grill pan?

    • Who said you can't replicate it, smell and taste wise you can.

Just keep your cooked steak in a large bowl and in center keep small metal bowl (which can hold 2-4 bbq charcoal chunks) and burn the charcoal chunks till it turn red.Put charcoal into the metal bowl and pour 5-10 ml olive oil close the large bowl immediately. (leave it for at-least 10min and more according to the flavour and aroma needed).

    • Try this item from this store (I am not affiliated with this store, I buy my charcoal from them) :

  • Hi OP, thanks they all look great!

Can I use the Peppercorns Green, Whole to easily make a peppercorn sauce (normally I use the tinned variety) - any tips?

Also what’s the expiry date of the deal?
I’d like to buy some as a gift and was hoping to have delivered instead end of June.
(They’d make an awesome Father’s Day gift too)

    Cheers

    • Absolutely bud, plenty of green peppercorn sauce recipes on the web. Here's an interesting one, Epicurious

Add chopped shallots to skillet and sauté 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add reduced beef stock, 1 cup whipping cream, 3 tablespoons Cognac and green peppercorns. Boil until mixture thickens to sauce consistency, about 6 minutes. Season sauce to taste with pepper. Spoon sauce over steaks and serve.

The deal will expire Sunday at this rate, given we're almost out of stock. Feel free to get in touch with us via socials/email if you're after more suggestions

The exact recipe I use, and the family are always asking for me to cook it every time we have steak - well recommended!!

  • Do you think this will work well if I sous vide beef before a smoke/grill?

  • Anyone who's used this previously, how does this compare to Mad Hunky's salt free dry all-purpose rub?

  • MMMMMMM discount code isn’t valid for the items in your cart

    • Should still be working. Have you tried ordering Beauty and the Beef 100g?

      • I put 200g, code working now.

        • :)

  • Just placed an order for a few different rubs, thanks to the ozb community and spicesource.com.au.

  • Not working? Just tried with the 100g and 200g beauty and the beef

    • Code ended a little prematurely. Should work fine until 23:00. Happy shopping…
