(update) Coles Early Pregnancy Test Strip (Am I Preg?)

Hi ladies

I am currently 9dpo and bought some coles Early pregnancy test pack. Not sure what does a faint line means? Is the response positive? Or should i get some other brands and do the test?

Photos of the strips

** 14/06 I am 7 weeks Prego. Ultrasound confirmed it Yesterday. Thank you everyone for the comments and support :) **

    Depends.

    Have you had sex recently?

Or maybe don't post on a bargain website, and go to a doctor?!?!

    • +4

Stop confusing her, her hormones probably off due to pregnancy.

      • Most divisive comment ever? 20/21 for against.

        I'm for.

OzBargain was probably the quickest way to get a response before seeking medical advice or spending more money on pregnancy tests.

I never knew before this post that Coles sold pregnancy tests. I thought this product was only sold in Chemists.

Here is the obligatory mspaint diagram.

      • You the real mvp

    How old are these tests?
ie did the strips appear almost immediately or after more than 10 minutes?

If almost immediately I'd strongly suspect pregnancy.

    • Two of them appeared almost immediately but were faint.

      • +22

Sounds like a positive pregnancy test to me.

If you're worried, see a doctor to get the tests confirmed by a blood test. Don't go out buying more home tests.

      • Appearance of the line, regardless of intensity, confirms the that line.

Might have been worth buying the tests that say "pregnant" or "not pregnant", instead of those that use lines.

        • +3

Maybe the manufacturers would have a little fun and add a “?” After the word “pregnant”

          • @ireadtermsofuse: Or a legend explaining your result means "Congratulations, you peed on a stick!"

      • +7

Unfortunately a faint test means your baby will look like this.

  • +2

I don't know what the current instructions say but the ones I remember said that the second line might not be as clear as the first line, but this faded line still means a positive test.

The time factor mentioned by scubacoles is also relevant.

    • The faded line appeared almost within a few sec. Test was done an hour ago and i checked now and faded line is more visible but obviously not as strong on the other one on the right.

      • +2

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like you are pregnant. Good luck at the doctors.

        • +37

More like good luck for the next 18 years…

      • Does the package literature still mention the time factor and the colour of the second strip?

        • It says to recap it and put it on a flat surface and wait for 1-5mins.

          • +8

@[Deactivated]: Faint is still a positive result.
The chemical reaction has occurred, your urine was most likely fairly dilute.

Congratulations on the new little ozbargainer on the way!

Not until she's married to Mr Bargain, and they decide to name the child Oz.

      Congratulations?*

  • +13

If there is a (second) line that appears during the time period it's supposed to, either you're pregnant or have testicular cancer. Either way, there's a new growth inside your body that wasn't there before. Congrats or condolences, depending on gender.

How boring is that? Next you'll be telling the car crash people to see a lawyer or speak to their insurance company! Ozbargain forums will shut dow due to lack of interest.

    • Ok. I’ll go to the dentist

  • Try another brand and/or another test first.

And then you can go to the doctor.

A line is a line no matter how dark or light. It won't appear at all unless the hormone it is activated by, is present. (And that hormone only exists in your system if you are pregnant.)

    Congrats!

  • A quick google search suggests that 9dpo may be too early for an accurate result.

    • The high inaccuracy early on is due to an increased chance of false negatives, if you're seeing any sort of line then it's pregnant.

I voted positive, because if your judgement is to consult OzBargain instead of a doctor (and you were worried enough to test), then you're probably knocked up.
But hey, I'm not a doctor.

  • Positive result, but given how faint it is, try again tomorrow with a different brand.
Line is not normally so faint.

Of course, the earlier you test, the more likely to see a positive result that does not become a successful pregnancy.
    Possibly, this has happened.

Alternative, you can get a new one and drop water on it and see what happen to test.
