Damn, Apple loves to nickel and dime it's customers, especially with the recent announcements from WWDC.

    I miss the old Apple.
    The Steve Jobs Apple.
    The iTunes store Apple.
The trash can Mac Pro Apple.
    The "Microsoft's a bro" Apple.
What if Apple made a book about designs by Apple,
Called "I Miss The Old Apple"? Man, that'd be so Apple.
That's all it was Apple, we still love Apple.
And I love you like Apple loves Apple.

    • those innovative days are gone my friend…

Thats not even half the problem. We get it. Its hard to innovate. But when apple introduce a new (to them) feature which has been in other products way way way before. They make it sound like they just invented the wheel for the first time.

        • This man gets it!

I think a lot of people, including Apple, have forgotten what their innovation was. It was never leading edge technology or a brand new product, it was taking existing tech & products, refining the hardware & design but significantly reworking the user experience. Their innovation was making products that fit seamlessly into peoples lives, things that added value so simply that they became almost core to people's lifestyles.

That is what differentiated them from others. Plenty of other manufacturers make cool hardware with better specs, or even enter new product categories before Apple does, but the products don't have the user experience make people feel like the product adds value, and that they need it in their lives.

Apple has lost that though, the last innovative product from them was the Apple Watch. That's a product that can properly change the way you operate, going without a phone for a whole day if you wish, and adding some really nice user experiences in the process.

          • @notme53: AirPods (the page this comment thread is on) came out after Apple Watch and those are pretty innovative.

Under Jobs they brought out an innovative product every 3-5 years. Seems like the Apple new product release schedule hasn't changed that much.

            • @txchou: I did consider the AirPods, but I was on the fence because they're more of an accessory than a standalone product in their own right. But I have to admit that I carry mine in my pocket nearly every day because they're so convenient, so they meet that definition.

        • well this is because most consumers that are apple centric in their purchases don't actually look outside for an alternative, once apple had established their following and it is a die hard base, they knew only small percentages on the fringes will look around to see what other brands are doing… you may know this "feature" is already in other brands but i bet most the users apple targets with their marketing of these "new" features have no idea and they dont want to know because it takes away from the image of the brand they love…

we can blame apple for not innovating but they do a lot of things right too.. at the end of the day consumers are to blame for not challenging them into going back to their roots and blowing others away with new things.. :)

    • bahaha this is great
