I own the Pixel 3 and had the Huawei p30 and my wife has the OnePlus 6T.
So speaking from actual experience, I completely agree with you, Both the mate20 and theoneplus7 should be waaaay better than the Pixel 3
As a pixel 2 owner, I am curious, what am I missing out on, that a Huawei or LG or even an S10 would provide?
Oops I meant OnePlus, not sure where I got LG from. In all honesty though, I find the suggestions that the pixel phones are not equivalent to any other Android phone surprising. I am keen to hear what your experience suggests makes these manufacturer's options so much more desirable?

Trade in my iPhone 5 for pixel 3a. Screen not cracked and touch is working. Those two condition/s seem to be the requirement as *working condition.

I was contemplating getting the 3a for my dad by trading in my old iPhone 5 with a near-dead battery. Can confirm it's any smartphone in a working condition.
However, they said they will not accept returns, regardless if its new sealed unused condition for this trade-in deal. You can only return it if you buy it 100% outright (i.e. $649 for the 3a).
Would love to see them investigated by ACCC over this claim if they deny lawful refunds.
Of course change of mind isn't something that's enshrined in law…
Come to think of this, this deal makes you feel good because you get $350 for an old phone that's worth $50 or nothing anymore but in actual reality the pixel 3 xl is now over priced and should be really sold at $899.
Just a really clever marketing tactic. They were giving away 2 for 1 pixels on launch month last year in the US and as we all know the next flagship pixel will be released this october.
Indeed, it was much better a couple of weeks ago when they price match Harvey Norman, making it $599 for pixel 3 and $750 for 3xl.

Picked up a 3a today for $549 after trading my old galaxy s4. At first they said only eligible phones but I got them to speak with manager who confirmed any working phone. Took best part of an hour, they faffed about a fair bit trying to process it.
Traded in a $20 coles phone, no issues
Traded in a Nokia E71 from 2008. Still working (they didn't check), with charger and data cable!
The girl just checked online if E71 is classed as a smartphone, which it is.

I saw the "trade in your old phone and get a $100 off the Pixel 3a or 3a XL" promotion on their webpage last night.Only problem was the end date which was 29th May.I contacted them and pointed this out and when I looked tonight after getting home from work the promotion had changed to "trade in your old phone and get a $350 off the Pixel 3 or 3 XL". End date is June 11 tonight…go figure.
