Telstra 12-Month SIM Only Plan $65/Mth 60GB Data + $500 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card OR Several Handset Offers @ JB Hi-Fi (Port-in Offer)

4710

Hi all,
Just ported in my number back into Telstra using this amazing offer from JB-HiFi.

Basically you get $500 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card (with no expiry) when you sign on to JB Hi-Fi Telstra 12 Months Plan for $65/month which offers Unlimited Local calls and 60GB Data.

Update (20/06): As per latest reports from the comments, this has been revised to $300 Gift Card as of today i.e. $500 offer withdrawn a bit earlier.

For those who would rather buy a handset, there are several offers as listed below:
(I managed to have a quick glance at their internal email, so sharing the love)

Samsung Note 8 - $199 upfront
Oppo Find X 256GB - $199 upfront
Huawei Mate 20 - $199 upfront
Samsung S10e - $399 upfront
Samsung Note 9 128GB - $599 upfront
Google Pixel 3 64GB OR Huawei P30 - $199 upfront - Update (20/06)

LATEST UPDATE (13/06),
From 13/06 to 16/06, instead of the $500 OR the Handset Offers already mentioned above, you can also choose to avail one of the following offers:
$0 Upfront: Hisense 43" 43R6 TV OR XBOX One X 1TB Console OR iPad 128GB 6th Gen (Wi-Fi model) - Update (16/06): This particular option is now extended to 19th June ans is also open to new customers

$49 Upfront: Apple Watch 42mm (Series 3)
$99 Upfront: iPhone 7 (32GB)
$799 Upfront: Oppo Reno 5G
Update (20/06): These options are now expired

All offers are for port-in customers only. [Having said that, I ported out of Telstra for couple of hours this morning and managed to port right back in using this offer without any issues - so worth a go!]

Note: From what I understand, this particular offer may not have any signage to promote it in the stores, so do try mentioning it to JB Hi-Fi staff in order to avail the offer. This offer expires on 23 June but if keen I would recommend getting it sooner than later (just in case it gets withdrawn earlier). Have a great day folks!

Edit: To answer a common query from comments - This Plan does not include Peace of Mind (POM) data OR $10 International Calling Pack

Edit 2: For those keen on scoring even higher bang for the bucks, for an extra $4/month you can easily upgrade this plan to Telstra’s $89 BYO plan (currently discounted to $69/month) via Online 24x7 chat, thereby giving you (hold your breath):

Extra 30GB data (total of 90GB data including Peace of Mind (POM) data)

Unlimited international talk & text to 15 selected countries (i.e. Bangladesh, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, UK, USA and Vietnam)

International roaming - 2GB data roaming and unlimited talk & text in eligible countries (Argentina, Austria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Laos, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nauru, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovak Rep, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, UAE, UK, USA, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Vietnam)

If you do international travel and/or make overseas calls to the above destinations this is the BEST VALUE mobile plan ever (in my humble opinion) as you'll be effectively paying just $27.3/month for all of the above! Update (20/06): Gift card has now been reduced from $500 to $300.

  • is the gc restricted in any way? could it be used for the new iphones for example?

    • The GC is your property with no expiry date

  • Would love To take up an offer like this but I'm still under contract with Telstra for six months and I'm not too keen on paying $130 for cancellation. Any ideas I know I could just cancel and deduct the money from the deal but losing $130 kind of makes it no ideal for me. I'm on the $39 plan with 35 gig BYO. I do need another TV so the difference would be $300 for the TV compared to my current plan. Into account the $25 difference over 12 months =300 that got me excited but then I would need to pay another 130 to get off my plan

    • Wondering if it's worth (and eligible for GC/discount) to get a brand new 2nd phone plan.

  • Great Deal OP! I'm with Vodaphone on a phone plan, will go over and clear it out and then port into $500 giftcard deal.
Gonna try in highpoint store, hope it works.

I'm still concerned about the change of plan tho, if I change to $49 plan, will I still be able to use the GC next year.
I know it has been mentioned before, just checking due to many people doing it weather they took some precaution to cancle it.

  • I am an existing Telstra customer (2 mobile phones) but need a 3rd phone. If I purchase a pre paid sim from another carrier and port that would I be eligible for these deals?

    • Would like to know this too

      • +1

I would assume as long as it's a new service you guys should be good I don't believe JB needs to know any details about existing plans. Just go in and follow the normal sign up.

        • +1

They need driver license, etc, but I hope it doesn't tell them if I'm existing.

I think at a minimum they ask!

Also in Telstra 24x7 app probably both services come under same accounts (?), which makes it difficult to get other discounts from Telstra. Unless signing up with a different email?!

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: In my experience as long as it's a new contract you can get the deal.
Telstra don't reward loyalty they always give new customers the best deals so when my current contract runs out I re-contract with whatever is the best at the time and it's always something classified for new customers. And I do this at the Telstra shop where you would think they would knock you back. I guess you could port in from a two dollar Sim that's Vodafone or something else but I don't really see the difference it's a new contract. But Telstra can be a real boneheads to deal with. Sadly asking Telstra directly gives you misleading and different answers so I can't really suggest them to help either I would just be trying your luck mate

            • +1

@Sammy Boi: I've got an amaysim 1 GB number and will try to port in later today

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: You should be good to go buddy just go down to JB tell them you want to port over show them the deal

    • +2

I dont see why not since it will be a new service with Telstra.

    • +1

      Can't see why not

    • +1

      Yes. Easy as

  • What is this $49 plan is it the one with 15gb?

    • No 60gb. It's normally $69 pm currently reduced to $49 pm for new services.

  • So confusing. Please help me obi-wan, you're my only hope.

  • If you are already with Telstra, is it possible to still get a brand new service (different number) with these benefits?

    • +1

Activate a pre paid from another provider, then port that number in Telstra.

  • Hello, just wondering can I use the data for hotspot/ tethering?

    • Of course that's just a feature built into your phone

  • Is this possible for me to sign contact today ?, and 49 deal is still valid ?

  • Anyone have any luck with moving to $49 pm /60gb? I think they are only offering $59 pm / 60gb now.

Also does anyone know if they keep a log of how many times a customer contacts the online chat…I've tried twice so far with no luck moving to $49

    • Don't think so, I read someone keeps trying and eventually got it changed. Might need some luck though. Do you mind confirm whether the data in the plan can be used for hotspot/tethering? Thanks.

      • +1

        yes it is

      • +1

Yes apparently it can. That's what the Telstra rep said.

  • Is the $500 deal expired?

As I can see that now they are offering TV/tablet/Xbox!

    Can someone please clarify this?

    • I think it's available to 23rd June. You need to ask in store. The $500 isn't advertised as an offer but it's available.

  • Is it possible to get this offer from Telstra store or online JB HiFi . Unfortunately being in a place without any jb stores wondering if there's any way to take advantage of this offer or the new one advertised today.

  • What is the most worth it option to get to onsell? I can't seem to work it out. Is it worth just getting the plain old gift card or better to get a phone (especially if there are free bonuses like headphones, etc), or the TV, etc?

    • I'd go on eBay and look up each item, but filter by SOLD listings + buy-it-now auction format.

      • I tried doing that but couldn't find much on the TV. Maybe the TV is a new model? I'm unsure how well it would sell.. And if it would even sell for more than the $500 gift card? I'm guessing the gift card could be sold at 5% off pretty easily?

        • TV does look to be a new model

  • I don't get why the deal is so good. Have I got this right?

$65/m for 12 months 60GB data and you get $500 gift voucher or choice of one of those gofts?

Coverage aside the Optus $40/m was a superior plan. I guess the $500 voucher is worth $40/ pm

    • Because you essentially only pay $49 for 60gb plus unlimited national and international calls if you speak to Telstra rep. Plus the $500 gift card. It's the same as saying: "would you rather pay $40/m for 12 months for 60gb or would you rather pay $40/m for 12 months for 60gb, plus the opportunity to buy a $500 giftcard from jb for $108".

If a deal today popped up to buy a $500 gift card for $108, it would be ozbargained hard - as is why this deal has gotten so many upvotes.

      • That assumes the $49 deal will be honoured by Telstra.

        • I guess there's no assumption on my part. I got it :P about 1 hr ago.

    • $65x12 = 780

less effectively $500 (jbhifi voucher with no expiry date is as good as cash/you'll bound to get something eventually)

      $280

      making it $28 per mth…
      for a $65 plan….

  • Telstra told me they are currently rejecting all $49 plans

    • Can you please post the transcript?

      • Didn't save the transcript, but i ended up going for $59.

The rep told me, although other reps are putting through $49 plans, it goes through a review system a couple days later and gets rejected.

Ehh happy with the $500 voucher and $59 plan anyways

        • Ahhh I see. I was moved onto the $49 plan last Sunday and have already received and paid my first bill.

    • I have managed to $49 plan, the second chat is pretty rude and not helpful but the third try, he is pretty helpful and sorts it out super quickly for me

  • Just got this, got on the Telstra Chat, and upgraded to the 69 a month 90GB plan. Bought a new SAMSUNG TV with the giftcard too, insane deal, just insane.

    • Is the Samsung TV better/worth more than the hisense on offer?

      • Good question mate, the guy in-store said both have similar picture quality, but the SAMSUNG has better long-term quality (Hisense might be slow in a few years in terms of smart hub speed) and the SAMSUNG has an overall better UI, eg, Smartthings app on phone connectivity

    • If you don't mind me asking, what price did you have to pay for the Samsung? Over the giftcard I mean.

      • Not a problem mate. Original price was 795, giftcard took it down to 295 :)

  • anyluck so far today for 49/month ?

    • Yes just got changed to $49 plan after signing up for $65 plan in JB today

      • Does the Gift Card still work?

        • for my information, it's still works . You can check the serial in the gift card

  • I just talked to the guy at jb, the offer is still valid, but he said there won’t be a $10 new customer. Need to say anything specific?

    • +2

Thats not with JB. It is with telstra chat

  • Got the $49 plan today. Told them I had spoken to a telstra rep when they asked me if it was the "Jb HiFi offer".

    • Wait, did you get $49 in Telstra by mentioned you talked to a Telstra rep?

      • Yah. I went to live chat, said "I signed up to the $65 plan bla bla, I am aware there is a port in offer for new customers bla bla"

Telstra said: "Is this from Jb HiFi"
Me: "I believe I spoke to a telstra rep there"
Telstra: "Yes i can confirm there is a $10 new customer port in"
Me: "I was under the impression it was $20 if I upgraded to the $69 plan"

She confirmed this is true, only for new customers. She confirmed my identity as a new customer etc. and the rest is history!

        • Nice! Did you ask for further discount to $39?
I just got the plan, but they said the processing is taking place and I have to collect my card tomorrow.
Then I'll have to change my plan.
But, will the giftcard still be valid tho?

          • @Radiant: I'm not sure if the giftcard will still be valid. I did run in to the store to collect my giftcard first though.

With regards to $39…I'm not sure how to do that. Was that a thing with the $69 plan?

            • @Jaystea: I was thinking to get a DJI OSMO Action which is $499 and then return to get a different gift card, then change the plan.
I'm not sure on $39 too, I have comments from earlier where someone managed to get the $49 deal and asked if they can apply $10 port in a discount to it and got it down to $39.

  • +1

Mass port out from Optus and into Telstra… Optus’s reaction is going to be huge.

    • It really does make you wonder how/if optus will hit back with a deal. I tried speaking to them before I ported out, but they didn't seem interested

      • Their marketing and finance department are unaware of the current telstra deal/the effect it will have. Thus they have nothing to offer just yet. If and when they do, it'll likely be close to, or after the 24th. In any case, the market is a constant ebb and flow. It's not so much who is cheapest, but who has the cheapest price at the right time. I suppose all telcos are trying to hit this at any one random time.

  • They weren't able to do $39 as they said it is a "second service". That is, I need to have an existing service to add a second $39 companion service to it. To quote:

This plan is available as an addition to your existing eligible Telstra services, or as an upgrade to an existing service – so long as you have at least one other eligible service with us. Eligible services include all post-paid etc etc.

    Ah well.

    • I had a first service yet they didn't offer any lower than $49

  • +1

I too was told that I had to wait 30 days. Still signed up, wrote a complaint via the contact us and said nowhere in the terms and conditions doea it state any waiting period and thus I am entitled to the gift card. They called me that afternoon and told me it was waiting at the counter.

    • Nice one!

    • Well done. But you just know they'll add it next time lol

    • It actually was in the T&C in the internal memo. They printed it off and gave it to me when I asked to see T&Cs

  • Just wanting to see how people have been going getting $10 off a port-in with the $45 plan. I can't commit to $45pm and need to be 99% sure I can get the discount through live chat after signing up instore. Thanks

    • You can't commit to a deal which requires $45 per month for 12 months ($540 total) phone plan with 50GB, which also provides a $500 JB gift card?

      • The $45 deal (listed on the same page) with 50GB comes with a $200 JB gift card instead

        • Sign up for JB hifi's $65pm plan and get $500 gift card; then you can change your plan to the JB hi-fi $45/50gb plan at no cancellation charge, and keep your gift card.

          • @mandelbrot: Wait what?, how is that possible?, how do you do that?..

  • Hi singhdeals, Both my wide and myself are with Telstra atm, if we would like to keep the same mobile number for use, can we still port out the current plan, and port back in the same number again with this JB-Hifi deal? How to do it?

Also in Perth, wondering which JB store did you go? Thx

    • Get a pre paid Sim with Vodafone or Optus and use that to port into Telstra. Then get onto Telstra chat and swap the plan onto your existing Telstra number.

JB Osborne Park will sort you out.

      • Is that actually possible ? What if still on Telstra contract till August ?

      • THX mate, does that mean, when I chat with the guy over 24X7 Chat, I will have to ask him terminate the current monthly plan, and then swap the newly ported in plan from JB-Hifi with the terminated old plan, but keep the same number?

  • I managed to get the 500 GC and change to $49/month.
I followed the steps from previous posts.
Initially, they said I can't change to $49 and can give me $10 port-in offer as I should have been a customer before a certain date.
And I said, my friend changed 2 days ago.
Then he said he pulled some strings and got me that deal but will be effective next month.
    I agreed.
Does anyone know if I can get it down to $39/month?

    • Update: I managed to get the $49/month plan down to $39/month after a 1.5-hour long chat.
Idk if I'm lucky, but in 1st contact, I changed from $65 to $49 and in the second contact got it down to $39.

And I just realized that for 12 months I pay 39*12 = $468 and I got a $500 gift card, so basically they are paying me $32 😂.
Thanks a lot for posting this OP!

My only question is regarding my $500 gift card, will it be canceled?

      • you are luckly, they just put me in $59/month. Not sure I need to wait or not to find the support lol.

      • Now they said : As much as I would like to offer but our process is standard and the offer for your friend is exclusively for her/him.
Can you privately send me the log chat, so I can like to talk to them
Update, the process my order $49 sucessfully

        • How did you convince them? I tried 4 times and they wouldnt budge and only offered $59 / 60GB?

I tried chat again…they are still not budging! What am I doing wrong.

          • @Quaker: Oh, I had to try third time, he said, the offer is only for me and not for the future. first I went to the support and it's not helpful at all, the customer services at is rude, but if you go to the sim-only-plan pages and press chat from there. They are willing to help you

      • What exactly did you say to get it down to $39? Lol

        • He has the second handset so he can have more $10 bucks for the loyalty

        • After I switched to the $49/mothn. I started a new chat and said I changed my plan however I'm a new customer and I am eligible for $10 off. He took a long time to check but at the end we processed the change.

          • @Radiant: woah, it's great. Can you tell me how $10 discount works, cuz when I asked am i eligible for the $10 discount ported in.
They said they dont have this kind of discount

          • @Radiant: Wow.. You're very lucky because the $49 plan already includes the $10 discount, as it's for new services only.

  • i changed 3 sims with telstra online chat from jbhifi 65 plan to telstra 49(69) plan. two i ported existing, 3rd one i purchsed an optus $2 sim, activate then ported to telstra at Jbhifi

  • I switched number to Vodafone over weekend and went instore today to get this deal with $65 plan. They told me that port in offers are only valid for a new service or number port out for at least 30 days from Telstra. Does anyone know any Jb Hifi store in Victoria that can sort this out for me.

  • Just walked in a JB, said wasn't aware of the $500 gift card…. Hmmm

    • Talk to a manager

    • Just went to JB hifi in Kedron QLD, they also allow me to see the list items that can be taken from the deal

  • Do these plans have international minutes,i mean $49 or $69 plans??
