However, it seems like if you have an active subscription of Xbox Live Gold, activating this deal will give you an extra month on your subscription, plus it will give you the Xbox Game Pass up until that date according to commenters in Chollometro.

      From what I've been reading, that's how I understand it, check this comment:

      I had:
      Gold until December 2019 (bought with code, not directly to Microsoft or with automatic renewal)
      Game Pass until July 2019 (with the promo that came out of three months pulled price, I subscribed and immediately canceled the subscription to avoid future charges )

      What this purchase has done was:
      Unsubscribe "Gold" and convert it to "Ultimate" by adding one more month, that is, now it expires in January 2020 with the advantage that Game Pass games are also included until that date (7 more months for the face)

      Of course, the first thing I did was go to account management and cancel the automatic renewal so that they do not charge € 12.99 per month as of January 2020.

    It's better to get a 1-month game pass for $1 if you don't have it. GamePass

    Then get 1 month ultimate.
    So, you'll get 2 months ultimate for $2.

    FYI: I had a 1 month GamePass code laying around, I just redeemed it after subscribing to Xbox Gold Ultimate and it said:

    Redeeming your 1-Month Xbox Game Pass code will automatically convert to 20 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and will be added to your current Xbox Game Pass Ultimate account. By redeeming this code, you agree to this conversion.

    So maybe Xbox Gold and Game Pass codes convert as a 20 days per 1 month ratio?

    So … I have about 5 months Xbox Gold credit and 13 Months Game Pass credit. Am I correct in assuming that will stack to give me around 18 months Ultimate credit + 1 extra month free? Don't care about the 1 month extra credit, just don't want to lose my already paid for subscription credits.

        This was what xbox support said "We have a good deal that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will convert all the remaining Xbox Live Gold + Game Pass to Ultimate one the first time you get it. After that, if you redeem the Xbox or Live Gold code, it will be converted to Ultimate with a fixed rate. "

        So for the first time yes you'll get 18 months

            @GossipGoat: I believe yes. According to Xbox Support, The first time when you convert, each month of Xbox live or game pass will be considered as 1 month of Ultimate and since you are purchasing it you'll get 1 month extra.
            i.e. if you have 1 month each of Xbox live and game pass right now and you purchase the $1 deal, then you'll get 3 months of ultimate.

      If you add 3 month gold and have 2 months of game pass ten you'll get 6 months of ultimate as you are purchasing 1 month with $1.

      See if there’s any deals for cheap Gold and Game Pass on your dashboard first.
      If so, grab them and then buy however much Gold you want, then use this Ultimate deal.

    So from reading the comments, it seems like once you have Xbox Live Ultimate, you're stuck on that subscription, and topping up with Xbox Live Gold subscriptions will convert it to Xbox Live Ultimate at a certain rate. If that's the case, does that mean you won't ever be able to go back to a normal Gold subscription? I'd want to go back to a normal Gold subscription as I'm not interested in Ultimate (only this one time with this deal).

      Thats not how I read it. I interpret it as, if you convert 12 months of Gold and 12 months of Game Pass to 24 months worth of Ultimate, you can't turn around and say you want to cancel Ultimate and have the 12 months for each service reinstated into seperate services. Most people wouldn't want to do that but say you jump on this offer with only 12 months of Gold and decided you should have bought more before hand to get more Ultimate, you can't convert back to a Gold sub, buy another 48 months of Gold, then take this offer up again. You have to serve out the subscription (which you've paid for anyway) and afterwards if you want you could cancel and sign up with one of the individual services if you wish.

      Basically the conversion of existing credit is one way, they won't convert ultimate allowance to Gold or Game Pass.

    Unless the date shown in the “My subscription” is USA format (month/day/year), my account is showing I’ve got Game Pass Ultimate till 2/11/2022. I thought the maximum conversion is 36 months though? Not complaining.

      Yeah, it's the US date format. Mine says "6/9/2022" after the upgrade, which is exactly 36 months from now.

      Lucky you. I rushed to convert when it was only available to insiders and all this info about adding codes afterwards wasn't known. I quickly converted thinking the deal would only be around for a limited time and now they have opened it to everyone and much more information is known about conversion ratios when you add codes after converting to Ultimate

    I converted to Game Pass Ultimate as an insider a few weeks ago, I only had around a year of Gold left.

    Didn't know at the time that I wouldn't be able to add codes after and get the full amount of months.

    Looks like I needn't have bothered rushing to convert seeing as anyone can do it now! Only ended up subbed until July 2020 :(

    Does this also mean that we can never go back to just Gold? I don't want to me stuck on Game Pass Ultimate forever! Hopefully once it expires we can

      Are you sure that's for a Game Pass subscription? ~$54 is a typical price for 12 months of Xbox Live Gold through key re-sellers. Game Pass is usually sold as a 1 month subscription only.

        on ebay, there are some uk sellers who are selling 12 month subscriptions. They came as 24 14-day codes and I can confirm that the UK codes work fine on australian accounts and this deal worked successfully. It cost 51 dollars for 12 membership which is pretty nice!

    - Had Gold and Game Pass, each expiring Jan 2020.
    - Purchased 12 Month Live from cdkeys for $72 (the most I've ever paid but still reasonable value at $6.00/month.)
    - Made sure recurring billing off, applied 12 month Live code, got 13 months (one month free for turning on auto billing)
    - Game Pass still expiring Jan 2020, Gold now expiring Feb 2021.
    - Joined Ultimate for $1, which combined my current memberships, adding together total months membership still open, plus 1 month Ultmate purchased (20 + 7 + 1 = 28).
    - Ultimate now set to expire October 2021.

    Awesome deal.

    Wow…thanks for sharing OP. Truly an awesome deal if your an Xbox user who has some months a gold subscription months in advance.

    Took up the offer in a whim whilst I was out thinking it may have been an error but now wish I had read the comments in advance. I'm wanting to add a few more months to make the most of this offer but seems pointless to buy a 12 month Gold membership as it will now be converted to 4 months of Ultimate? So I'm better off buying a 6 or 12 months of Gamepass instead. Other then Cdkeys, are there any other places to get them cheap?

    My only concern with this is that they could potentially charge more for the service if standard Xbox Live Gold is eliminated and they stop selling/making Xbox Live codes! Forcing all users (who want to play online) to this subscription eventually in time.
