may wanna wait for E3 announcement instead of copping this, Nvidia refresh RTX lineup may lower current RTX cards prices and gotta wait to see what navi has to offer.

    • Yup, rumour that $100 USD price drop on the existing RTX 2060/2070/2080. So MAYBE this 1660 ti will drop below $300AUD after eBay 20% off discount.

      • When is this happening? Thanks

By this Wednesday AEST, we will know.

      • Wouldn't surprise me if they just brought the cards in at a $100 premium over these for the first few months, milk more money from "must have now" people and trying to encourge others to buy the old stock (better value for money). Once that is done, then lowering the new stock prices.

        • AMD is spilling the details on Navi in a few days. Unless it's very disspointing it should block Nvidia from getting too greedy for a bit.

          • @Merlict: I'm not expecting them to open with big discounts either. Both companies have a lot of stock to clear out. I'm still holding out for a new card until this launch, I expect to be a bit disappointed pricewise.

A 2060 RTX with faster memory for $400ish would be rad.

  • where in the gpu rank does this card sit?

    • +2

      Above the 1070 GTX, below the 1080 / 2060

Don't think AMD has much to compete in this bracket unless you get lucky and find a cheap Vega card

      • thanks

        but this also supports RTX?

there's no AMD cards currently selling that has something similar to RTX?

        • Nope, no RTX on this card. This is a GTX card, part of the 1600 series. RTX are all 2000 series this gen.

It is possible to do raytracing on these cards, it's just very slow / buggy. Tbh even the RTX2060 struggles a lot with it, I wouldn't worry about it til it's more common and better supported.

          • @Merlict: Ray tracing is getting more traction and looks amazing from the stuff that I've seen..
I think the future consoles like PS5 and xbox already confirms that they will have ray tracing so that is when we should see more ray traced games.

Ray tracing is definitely the future of gaming graphics

Nvidia even gave out the Quake2 RTX mod/demo..
I tested it out and it is amazing how it was able to make a 22 year old game look quite modern

Did you tested the Quake2 RTX mod/demo?
