Hopefully the local kids will feel bad about how expensive this hose is/fear the might of the hoselink man and will cut a piece off of the neighbours instead.

Anyone own one of these and able to comment on its value for money / quality?

I am assuming these are better than the ones that Bunnings offer?

Owned ours for about 3 years now, great quality, much better than those ones from Bunnings. Would recommend purchasing the Click-on Adapter Set if you have existing sprinklers with a normal hose fitting, or even for weed and feeding.

      Just installed some at home.

      Can't fault them.

I’ve had one for about 18 months now - much smoother action than the Bunnings one I have on the other tap.

This one has no problems retracting - the Bunnings/Holman brand one I have to fight with. Had a similar experience with Pope branded reels. Even new they didn’t retract smoothly.

Haven’t tried the Nylex or the expensive Gardena versions that are on a par with Hoselink price-wise

I've had one for about 5 years now - it's 30m long and I have always had trouble with it locking when extended over 15m - it's really hard to lock it when so much hose is out. They might have fixed that in newer ones …. The plastic cover has deteriorated in the sun, the plastic where the hose retracts has become really brittle and bits have fallen off - doesn't look very good but it doesn't stop it from working. I guess any plastic left in the sun that long would have the same problem. I also have a 20m Holman for 3 years - no issues with locking, it's plastic has faded but not broken - yet. When I first got the Hoselink one of the connectors leaked and when I called their helpdesk they were only too happy to send out a free replacement, so their support while in warranty was great.

The spray gun handle sticks and needs regular lubes with a gel (silicone?) they sell in small packs. A real PITA.

      Apart from that great kit.

reading about this hose system sounds like i'm about to buy meself a Mercedez of garden hoses.

More like a Tesla, you're paying a fortune for being locked into using the manufacturer's products/services.

They last a long time. My parents just replaced one of their hoses in the house because the reel is falling apart. This was left in the house when they moved in over 6 years ago so unsure how old. The actual hose is not leaking at all. They just wanted a new reel :)
