Black Ridge 2.5HP 180LPM Air Compressor, Air Gun Kit 4 pc & 10m Hose - $249 (Save $320.60) C&C /+ Delivery @ Supercheap Auto

40

Similar to this deal posted recently, this compressor, 4pc air spray gun and hose look like a pretty decent deal. I picked up mine last night C&C and it looked like it was an online only deal, with the instore signage indicating that the deal came to $370.

I haven't had a chance to open up the compressor, but the hose is fine, and the air spray gun kit look to be of really good quality, with plenty of neat accessories.

Everything seems to be reviewed very well in this deal, you can see the reviews on SCA website (i have no insight about the objectivity / verification of SCA reviews though, but can't see any indication that they're tampered with, since there are PLENTY of bad reviews on other SCA stuff).

Would be great if anyone could suggest awesome, well priced DIY grade air tools to compliment this deal.

  • Others may still find similar compressor at Aldi for around $80 on clearance. Then buy you choice of spray gun and hose if needed.

If you have a time machine there's always these air tools 😂 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/305044

I've only seen them for $99 after being reduced from $129

      • Yeah I saw it today in aldi for $99

        Paid $79 last year.

  • Is the compressor oiless? Doesn't specify in ad.

A paint project getting contaminated with oil is not worth the discount.

    • This goes on special for $220 commonly.

220LPH vs 180LPH will be noticeable if you're spraying.

I understand it works out more expensive once you add hose and gun; but the FAD will be worth it since you're mentioning a paint project.
Also, being a twin motor, you SHOULD get a slightly better duty cycle.

      • It's not the volume but oiled compressors discharge some oil. Even on oil based products, this could stuff up an entire job.

  • Can anyone advise if these are actually any good for painting car panels before I decide to buy one.

    • +1

Single panels will be fine; but you'll run out of air painting the entire side of the car.

As above; watch for a deal on this.

Also, you need to try not to get a HVLP spray gun on cheap compressors, the 'High Volume' requirement is hard for them to meet; conventional spray guns are your friend for backyard jobs (catch 22, is overspray).

      • $220 on the above mentioned compressor sounds great but shipping kills it at $62. Only looking at painting one panel at a time e.g. spoiler, bumper etc
