You should get one in 8 months

      • Yeah i will hold out. Might a be a new model etc.

There is always specials, but the whole point of specials is to "create the urgency". That is one of the first things they teach you when you study sales.

    • Nope!

A honest review, I wish I got two decent bookshelves instead. It's good because I don't have much space, music sounds ok on it, voice is a bit tinny, I haven't had time to adjust settings but is it possible to adjust the EQ on it? The bass is a bit high at times and a bit much treble

    • Waaaay better than my TV speakers. Good for what it is

    • Okay, may need to listen at store. Trying to avoid that.

  • Great price… hasn't been this cheap in a while

  • Any cashrewards?

    • Don't believe there is available via any sites for eBay

    • Qantas has a store with click through that gives Qantas points.

  • Is this soundbar better than my old Samsung HT-E6750W 7.1 channel Blu-ray Home Theatre System? The surround sound works with movies in AC3 audio format but AAC is not supported (which I think might be the more modern or more used audio format?)
    Thanks

  • Nice post, mate.

Really gonna buy one but I am totally rookie in speakers.
Just wanna know can this speaker use in another country?
Does it have a voltage transformer like computers?
I am about go to the country which standard is 110v.

    Many thanks.

  • I have outdated Yas-93 which still works fine. When I look at specs it seems like 108 has two tweeters and others seem to be the same. Would they make a considerable upgrade?

  • How is the voice quality/volume with these?

Previous posts have been a little less positive in this area and its the reason I'm looking for one.

    • +1

I need to keep adjusting the volume on my TV and Netflix, but it gets really loud, helicopters sound awesome, explosions make my couch vibrate a bit and the mrs is always yelling at me to turn it down. And it's Only on 4 out of 5 volume bars. Definitely go for this!

      • Saying that though, the sound bar I got from. Dick Smith two years ago did seem louder and was as good as this too, but I only paid $40 for those.

  • Help out a newbie here

We got a similar one to these

    https://www.pccasegear.com/products/35194?PPC=Y&gclsrc=aw.ds…
Just ours is 20 yrs old.

Will this sound bar be better?

We do like the compactness of the sound bar

    • +1

Yours doesn't even compare matey. This even has DTX. I'd say plump for this, and if you're going to hang on to it for another 10 years, then you can also get an wireless subwoofer for extra bass!

  • +1

I nearly pull the trigger on these at every deal, then at the last minute decide I'd be better off buying a second hand receiver and speakers.

  • I currently have a 2.1 Wired System to a subwoofer for my computer. Can I make this my front speaker and then connect my current 2 speakers to the back of the room and make a pseudo surround sound system?

    • If your computer (specifically motherboard or sound card) supports 5.1 input (lots of coloured 3.5mm jacks on the back) this will be super easy; simply plug the sound bar into the centre channel.

    • I doubt the cables are long enough to run to the back of the room for that surround effect.

  • Strange question for anyone who owns one…

Does this turn off automatically if no audio is playing?

My current one turns off after 15 minutes of no signal and is SUPER annoying.

    • When used with a Compatible HDMI ARC TV mine does. If I wake it up via Bluetooth with my phone then disconnect, it does the same as your previous one (stays on then eventually turns off).

      • Thanks.

I don’t suppose there’s a setting to turn this off?

Edit - Read the manual and it appears this can be turned off.

    • I own one and have the opposite problem - I want the auto power off after the TV is switched off but it never works (I use optical input). Doesn't support auto power off with optical I think.

  • I have this and it's worth every single cent. Though can't compare to other high end sound systems, given the price this is as good as you can get

A question to those who own one. What cables if any do you get in the box? I bought one with delivery and was wondering if I need to purchase a cable.

  • Click & Collect out of stock all over Melbourne burbs.
    You snooze, you lose 😔
Still available for delivery on Ebay. +postage

  • All my local GG stored have “no stock” according to eBay click and collect… go the GG website though, select the same product and all three of my local stores have stock. Hoping to walk into the store and get them to price match instead.

    • I wonder if they just need to update their eBay stocks? Makes sense their systems are not connected. Then again, what do I know.

    • +1

This is the reply I got from TGG rep when I questioned them about this:

We work in conjunction with eBay Australia to run our eBay store, however we do not have the ability for the stock level indicators on eBay to reflect ‘real-time’ stocks (as we can with our own website).

For this reason, items with low stock numbers at a store will not appear as available for Pick-Up on our eBay store. This is a preventative measure to avoid a situation where customers may make orders for Pick-Up that cannot be fulfilled.

If you are unable to allocate your local store for click and collect unfortunately this means that this location is not eligible for pickup due to limited stock availability.

We hope this helps clarify this situation as we can appreciate that this may cause some confusion.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

  • Can this sound bar be mounted about the TV? If so, does it require a special mount?

    • Theres a mounting template provided in the box, it has 2 simple screw hole mounts. Simply put 2x screws in wall (not provided), then slide the speaker on it.

      • So what's not provided? The screws or the wall? Lmao… Interesting how the whole thing changes due to placement! Only kidding… :)

      • Thanks… Would it look weird having it above the TV?

        • Personal preference really, I'd say either below or hide it behind the TV.

          • @Bulk1: Looking at the youtbue video, the cavity where the wire's go into would be an issue if mounted above the TV.

I can't put it below as, my TV is on a stand, and theres not enough room on this stand to fit the sound bar.

Hadn't thought about putting it behind the TV, but wouldn't that block the sound??

  • Click and collect today for me. I realised my old Sony Bravia didn't have HDMI out and this shocked me as it has 5 HDMI in ports. Got it working with the fiber optic sound out no worries. It's good.

  • Can anyone assist on getting this working with my GVA g42tv16, I cannot get sound from the unit.
I've connected the TV and unit with the arc HDMI ports, set TV settings sound to PCM and enabled HDMI CEC and ARC on.
HDMI cable works as I can see the device listed on the TV, even says on the TV that ARC device connected.
When I set the sound bar to TV or HDMI the TV makes no sound but neither does the sound bar.
When I change it to another input, audio or bluetooth, the TV sound returns.

    • See the comment immediately below. You might have to go with an optical connection

    • I have the exact same TV model and Yamaha 107B.

Been searching on web for any solutions, trying with different HDMI cables, but it all didn't work.

Have to connect through analogue cable and juggle between the remote controllers. Very frustrating!

  • I picked up mine today and had so many issues trying to get the ARC working on a Hisense 75N7. Ended up being forced to use optical. Sound quality is good but a bit annoying that I am forced to use the second remote to control volume. Seems like a common issue with Yamaha/Hisense from what I have seen online. Going to give both companies a call sometime this week to hopefully resolve.

  • Picked mine up today and ARC works fine with my Sony TV.

    • Unfortunately ARC doesn't work with my cheap GVA TV (that's meant to support ARC) which is a shame. It detects ARC but it won't output any sound :(

Works fine with analogue though at least.

  • I got two Sonos One speakers, I wonder if I will be able to connect those two with it and have a surround system? Sonos are wireless so will it work with this sound bar?

  • My order is still "being prepared" annoyingly, ordered it Saturday. Was hoping to pick it up over the weekend but alas. Wonder how long it should take?

    • Same here!

    • TGG are having stock issues I think. I called my store who told me that the web orders were coming in really slowly.
Eventually they called me back saying that particular store was out of stock and they gave me the option of transferring my order to another store that definitely had stock (they called the other store for me), so that's what I did.

      • Frustrating, it showed as "in stock" at the time I ordered it. I even called to see if I could just come get it but my web order hadn't come in. There's no other stores in SA that have stock from what I can see, at least close by, so it looks like I'm waiting.

      • They called me on Sunday and said to me the same . I called them today to see if they got updates from other store and now have been told that we have put ur order in back order and estimated delivery date is 23 June.

  • Recently got a call from GoodGuys (I ordered as delivery) they said, all of the Good Guys run out of stock and will be on back order, but don't know the availability date, so they want to confirm whether I am OK to wait for unknown future date or refund.

    • Same, I have opted to wait for back order.

I have this soundbar - can vouch its fantastic.

  • bit late to the game, but i've been considering this soundbar for a while.
I downsized a few years ago, from a 5.1 system to a Pioneer "bluetooth" speaker "designed by Andrew Jones" who's apparently a name in the industry.
It's obviously designed for music, rather than movies, and I need to connect it via the TV using the 3.5mm plug, as the speaker itself has no HDMI.

on some things it sounds fantastic, netflix, and music, big tick (although boomy at higher volumes)
some others, like movie rips with decent quality, foxtel, abs/sbs apps, the voice sounds muddled, and putting the volume up, only means it gets even more boomy.

my question is whether the smarts on this thing (DTS, dolby digital, virtual surround, etc) will actually manage to solve some of this issues.
my speaker itself sounds good, but I think it has something to do with the coded these apps are pushing out, and the TV being shit, decodes it the wrong way into stereo.

    what do you guys think?

I could go back to a 2.1 with a receiver, but it would end up costing considerable more, and using a lot more space (which I currently don't have)

  • Does anyone know if you can plug in a Chromecast directly into this purely for streaming audio from Google Home? I don't want it to go via the TV.
Can't find any relevant details on this.
    Thanks.

    • +2

Chromecast Audio? Yep! There's a 3.5mm input so you just switch it to analog. There's HDMI input too so I don't see why a normal Chromecast can't work either.

Ordered Friday afternoon, delivered Monday mid day.
Connected my old 5.1 sub from a system I have stored.

  • +3

Thanks for posting, been wanting to grab one of these for awhile, at that price went for 2. Edit that, just got a call from TGG said they were over allocated on eBay and not in stock in any stores despite website stating otherwise. No ETA available…

    • +1

Same, I've requested an ETA and they are 'contacting the supplier'. Still awaiting to hear. I really wanted this one, should have ordered sooner!

      • +1

Just had an update, was advised that the suppliers are doing another delivery and will be available at The Good Guys warehouse in three business days, then will be approx three business days from there to be shipped to us.

Not as bad as I thought, at least it's coming in :)

        • Yeah I heard similar, my local store is expecting them by next Thursday.

          • @agentzero: Just got notified that my store has it ready for pickup!

        • I was told it might arrive this Friday but after waiting all day, now they're telling me it could be another week or more. This is ridiculous, I bought it a week ago now and it was "in stock" at the time I bought it both on eBay and In Store for the store I chose. They never called me to ask if I wanted to keep my order or cancel it, I had to call them and they couldn't figure out why nobody had called, and now I'm being given the run-around.

          • @Kritter2069: I called today after seeing the message from kevlarman and I was told it is available for pickup and they were not sure why no one bothered to call me once the item was back in stock!

            • @tarpit: I called today and they said it could take a week or more :/

              • +1

@Kritter2069: Yeah these guys are a joke, after being told it was coming this Thursday. I've called them several times to check status, been given the run around, put on hold and then had the call terminated. Can't get any answers regarding an eta. Have decided to cancel my order and buy elsewhere, sure it costs a little more but it can be picked up today.

  • Would this be good to replace my logitech z5500 that I use in my living room?

My wife wants to go cordless as she is scared our little bub is going to trip over the wires.

I love the sound I get my from Logitech's when playing PS4, watching sports and movies so looking for a cheap alterative option that will give me at the minimum the same quality surround sound experience.
