As an example, a quick search showed Coles has scotch fillet for ~$33-$39/kg.

The problem for us consumers is identifying if the quality of this product is better than the alternatives (for similar or cheaper pricing).

  • Can't really comment on the price of the steak when there is limited information on the quality of the meat.
Is it grass fed? Where is it from?

  • These days I only buy grass fed. If grains fatten up the cow and cause marbling chances are it will do the same to us humans.

You sell rump steak for $18.99 per kg+ delivery

ALDI sells organic grass fed, no hormone for $19.99 per kg

Nothing really on your website to make you stand out and make people like me try and place an order

    • What's the organic aldi steak called? Is that the everyday price?

      • +1

It's called Organic grass fed rump steak. The packaging has a tint of green on it and it's in a single steak shrink wrapped packaging.

$19.99 per kg is the everyday price

        • Thanks, I'll have a look next time I'm there.

        • Went to two Aldi stores and neither had organic rump, will have to try further afield on the weekend.

  • How does this compare to Aldi Scotch fillet Highland Park @$27.99 every day. And don't have to pay shipping.

    • I was suprised with the quality of the Aldi scotch. Yeah it aint no gourmet butcher special occasion scotch but pretty good for a mid week steak!

  • How thick are they.?

    • As most beef in Australia is sourced from similarly sized cattle, the thickness of these will be very similar to any other 250gm Scotch Fillet steaks.

      • Umm I assume it’s has to do with how thick they cut it.

Go to Vic Market, you can see butchers selling trays of scotch fillet. If you have a closer look, they’re about a finger thick, I prefer mine 2.5-3 fingers thick. If it’s pre-cut I want to know how thick they are.

        • Yes, the steaks can be cut to any thickness.
But as they are 250gm / steak, they will be a reasonably standard thickness as the other dimensions will not change.

          • @GG57: Not really, since it depends on the meat, how much juice/water is in it, the marbling, etc

It’d be helpful if the simple question was answered, not a politician answer, like you’re giving.
