Toshiba X10 Portable SSD 1TB $199 @ Officeworks

180

Seems to be a pretty good deal on external SSD - 1tb.

Officeworks have stock and it's free same day delivery if ordered before 11:30am (in Sydney anyway)

Cheaper than any other 1 tb external that I've found so far.

First post, go easy!

  • This Or Samsung T5?

    • T5 is superfast and more compact. I travel with 2 in my laptop case, the smaller size is handy.

      • the toshiba is micro b usb ….samsung is usb c …….. i have more usb c than micro b cables so from cable inventory samsung is more up to date.

    USB 2.0 Only
But not bad for the price

    • Um, what?

      • Yeah…it’s USB 2.0 compatible but the native interface is USB 3.1 G1.

        • I mean I know how USB works but was more confused as to OC's statement. lol

Not sure where you're seeing this - transfer rates are listed at 430MB/s - I think that's USB 3 speeds, right?

      • Certainly is! USB2 is only 480Mbps / 60MBps

    How much is it normally?

Could always get a 1TB Samsung 860 QVO for $159, and an enclosure for cheaper

    • I did that for my steam library. It let me use my 'old' ssd when I upgraded the one in my laptop. Works well, and not hard to do at all.

    • size …. the t5 and toshiba are much smaller than a 2.5” enclosure, and we live in a service oriented society, so some people prefer a single point solution rather than shop around, wait for drive to arrive, case to arrive and them assemble.

some people don’t even wash their own shirts or pickup their own take away food anymore, it’s all about convenience for some people.

Just received it - it's small - slightly smaller than a credit card.
Read speed 385MB/s, Write 395MB/s as per Blackmagic disk speed test.

    • Is this USB C??? where is the official Toshiba website for this???
