Toyota Dealership Email List. Anyone Know How to Get It or Have It?

Hi all - I am helping my father purchase a new vehicle. He knows what he wants and is ready to buy but happy to go to any Toyota dealer in Victoria.

It was suggested sometime back by a friend that emailing them all with the details often gets a great result. So in attempting to do this it would appear that Toyota have designed their websites so you can't get the information about the dealers email addresses.

Short of going through every individual dealer site and lying about my father's post code to be able to do so has anyone perhaps been able to do this in the past and have the list or know how to get it?

Thanks

This method is how I got the best price for my Honda. Basically told them that I had a newborn and wanting X car and what was their best price to get me down there to negotiate

    • And you managed to easily get their emails? I would be happy to spend an hour or two and go site by site but they only have webforms and don't give you an email address. I guess that will have to be the last resort if I can't find an easier way.

      • +2

Yeah took me while, but put together a screen scraper and automated the email. The best price I got was nearly $3k better than other dealers. Once I was at the dealer, negotiated further

    • +5

Basically told them that I had a newborn

and this impacts the price how?

      • +15

Adds credibility that replying “come down and talk to us for best price” won’t get them anywhere.

        • So the next question will be, can they deliver it? As you know, new born can't leave the house.

          • +18

@JimmyF: I don't think that's an actual new born typing those messages, Jimmy. ;)

          • +1

@JimmyF: OP is looking for a car salesman, not a midwife!

Call them and ask? Just say you're a busy person who has a few questions.

Bulk emailing every dealer will likely be ignored.

    • -1

Thx - just going off a friend's advice from about 10 years back when he followed this process and got a killer deal on a Kluger. Had to drive to the country but the discount was huge compared to others who did respond.

      • -4

10 years back? Killer deal? Yeah ok….

Nothing to lose and far quicker than getting stuck on the phone with a salesperson.

    Try sales@<insert name>toyota.com.au or info@<insert name>toyota.com.au

    • Thx John- have emailed one via their webform and hoping they respond to get the format they use.

      • -1

You will probably get one from a specific salesperson's email address.

  • +1

This doesnt work.. I contacted 3 toyota dealers on the phone for a price on a brand new car. All of them quoted an identical amount to the cent… Turns out the guy I went to visit face to face gave me the best deal that was a bit cheaper than the others.

  • Try Ken Morgan Toyota

What sort of car? I can certainly give you an idea as to whether this will be fruitful or not

    • Hey Spacebace, I'm not the OP but would this method work for the Corolla ZR Hybrid? Not sure that it will seeing as there's a sales hold on them now!

Has demand for them died down since release or should I wait it out a bit more? Cheers :)

      • +1

Corolla zr hybrid is still a factory order, 3-4 months
If you want one just get it. It'll be a while before there's no factory waiting

        • Thanks, is there much room to move on demos? If a dealer is holding stock would it be easier to negotiate than a factory order? Cheers

          • +1

@maybeamacy: Not much more on demo Corollas no. Sometimes easier sometimes not. Sometimes dealers don't care if you're just another factory order, whereas a Hybrid ZR on ground could be like gold to that dealer

Sorry, answers aren't concrete because there's too many variables!

            • @spackbace: Thanks! If a 2018 demo was going for 32k, would 30k as a target be reasonable do you think?

Do you mean gold as in they'd want to hold onto them/sell them at the highest price possible?

What about the SX Hybrid - is there a waiting time for that, would it be easier to negotiate on that model?

      • I'm in the market for the Corolla ZR Hybrid as well. Let me know how you go? I got priced at a dealership and all he did was knock off $1K off standard price.

I hate this process of buying a new car, but I also don't know what I'm willing to pay lol I just want a good deal.

Found a demo for $35K but can see that Spackbace said they don't move much on demos :(

    • He wants a corolla Ascent with the safety pack and GPS. Probably less viable for a discount right as not enough margin in it for them?

      • I just had a look into the sales hold thing and it looks like the petrol models aren't allowed to be sold for the time being but fingers crossed the hybrids are?

        https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/toyotas-mass-sales-sto…

      • +8

There is no safety pack, the car comes with the safety stuff standard.

He can get around $1500-1800 off, absolute maximum. Smidge more for an 18 plate.

Best to try to haggle the local dealer down first

      • In queensland.
2019 or latest model Corolla sx sedan, no safety sense, has nav. I negotiated to $25,000
Very hard to get safety sense.

2018 corolla 12th gen accent sport hatch with safety sense I negotiated to $25,000
Second close was $25,800 or so

2019 12th gen corolla hybrid hatch accent sport. $27,000 with weather mats and weather shields.
Second close was about $27,500 or so. Most were around $28,000

Looking back, I highly recommended corolla hatch hybrid. Most times for me is Near silent on battery, smooth ride, electronic side mirrors.
It has sedan sx things like, alloy wheels, keyless entry, push button start.
It includes safety sense. Might pay more for nav. But I don’t recommened built in nav.
People say it’s slow etc. but apple play will come soon later in the year. Toyota people told me.
I would recommend using your mobile on a windshield holder for the time being.

Will Apple Play make it faster?

          • @serpserpserp: Probably because it’s just using your phone maps.
Unlike the Toyota stock nav. I am guessing anyway.
            Hopefully it’s like screen mirroring.

About two Car brokers didn’t help me much getting my corolla, they were like $1000-$2000 more than what I paid for. And waiting time is bad. I preferred to do it myself. Call dealers and do visits.

I was palmed off by Cadogan to a company called "Georgie". After waiting 6 weeks for them to get back to me with this magical "save you thousands off your next car"… They gave me the retail price of the car and said "that's the best we could find…"

So, no, I wont be using Cadogan again if all they are doing is outsourcing their work. All I'm doing is adding two more middle men into the equation, Cadogan and Georgie.

      • Had a similar experience actually when I was looking to purchase the (now last-gen) Hyundai Santa Fe. New Santa Fe was a month away from landing and best they could offer me was RRP. Had nothing to do with Cadogan once he had passed the buck. Managed to get a much better deal myself.

I'd say he just gets referral fees from brokerage companies. Has no other vested interest in the matter.

      • Similar experience - received an email from Georgie (business name of carloans.com.au and member of Eclipx Group) advising that someone would call me, but I never received a call. I was chasing an older model and wasn't much stock around so ended up negotiating with a few dealers myself.

    • What, Mr Shouty Man from YouTube?

      No thanks

  • +1

Toyota dealerships are not allowed to compete with each other publically, this is out of interest in sustaining the dealership business model.
The best way is to contact a few dealerships and discuss the price you're willing to pay. FOMO is bad for everyone and usually leaves you exhausted and dissatisfied.

  • +2

It's a pity that dealers don't pay attention to genuine customers who take the time to write them a detailed email for a potential sale.

Maybe OP can handwrite letters and post to various dealers so they know it's a legit enquiry.

Attach a photo of wads of cash awaiting for next ownership (dealer) may entice them to work for their money.

    • Can't sell a car via email.

Dealership want you to come in. Simple.

      • I disagree. I mostly negotiated my car via email. There were a couple of phone calls here and there though.

      • Tell them in the email tat you will only communicate via email. If they don't want your business that's their issue but I bet some dealers will play ball

        • +2

And they are idiots. Because anyone with two brain cells will take that email to their preferred dealer and ask for a price match.

Yes, there are 'ethical' people out there who say they won't do that, but I have never heard of one of those sales going though in retail. They always end up shopping the written quote.

      • +1

I emailed 6 dealers when I bought my car. Simply outlined:

        • exact model
        • my colour preferences
        • what accessories I wanted
        • and when they had to get back to me by as I wanted to purchase by a certain date
        • I only want to deal via email but will answer a call to prove I'm a genuine buyer

        They had to reply with:

        • their final price as I wasn't going to bother negotiating further
        • what the prices were with and without accessories
        • when they could get the stock in
        • which colours they had
        • build date and kilometres

Saved like $8K over the highest price offered. The lowest was $2K cheaper than the next quote.

  • +2

In case you were wondering, this idea originated in this book (but using fax machines instead of email)

    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/998.The_Millionaire_Next…

You basically list out the specs and ask them to reply once with their best offer, then just go to the one who offered the best price.

The point was also about being frugal with your time (time is money) and how much time you'd waste going to in and haggling at a bunch of dealerships.

  • OP, have you heard of diminishing returns?

What's your father planning on doing if, for example, Wodonga Toyota give a deal $500 cheaper than anyone else but it's a 6 hour return drive?

  • +2

Hi - sharing my very recent experience as a lot of variability in buying a car after reading many threads on this site.

    1) Email dealerships (as per OP's original message)

Sent email to x4 dealerships via their 'contact us' option on their website. All called me back within 2 days but just wanted to talk further/me to come in. No one responded via email.

    2) Call dealerships

Called 5 dealerships relatively nearby to me. Same tactic - exact spec and desired price. Aggressive price (ended up being 14% off EOFY "sale" price for a base model Mazda CX5, no extras). Only one would speak to me at that price, the closet other was $1,000 away. I ended up going there and getting the car that weekend.

    Other options

    3) Broker - There is a thread on ozbargain by a luxury car dealer (look up an AMA from a luxury car broker). He is based in Melbourne and I'd recommend him highly. I called him and talked through my position and he was very willing to assist. I ended up handling it myself as needed the car asap. In future I will engage him as the whole process was more time consuming than I could really afford and the negotiation aspect is such a game.

    4) Various paid search e.g. Motorbuys. I tried this was very disappointed. $50 for 2 quotes, both well within 10% of advertised price. Don't recommend.

My tip if you are doing on this own your own - asking for the "best price" isn't a helpful question/tactic. You need to work out how much you are willing to pay (be reasonable) for exactly what you want and get them to come up with a solution to get you there. Or walk away.

    • +1

Bingo :) And be prepared to buy it right then and there if they can

    • You need to work out how much you are willing to pay (be reasonable) for exactly what you want and get them to come up with a solution to get you there.

      Exactly.

Go in with the price you want. They either accept or reject. Always take a deposit with you and offer it. They salivate when they know you're serious.

My last car I knew I wanted to spend exactly 25k on a specific make, model, engine and year. Went and test drove 3. All refused my offer of 25k. Second salesperson called me 30 mins later and accepted. Pretty sure that Saturday morning took less time and stuffing around than what OP proposes.

Here is how you can get all the email addresses:

Go to this URL, change the "VIC" to the state you want (accepts all the usual state abbreviations, NSW, VIC, SA, ACT, WA, TAS, QLD, NT).

    https://www.toyota.com.au/main/api/v1/toyotaforms/info/deale…

Copy everything on the screen to your clipboard and go to https://json-csv.com

Paste all the text into the text box and it will process it and display it below, also giving you the option to save it as .csv or .xlsx

One of the columns is the email address, not every dealer seems to have an email address listed but most do.
