I'm still not sure if these products are legit. Their fragrance never lasts quite as long as the Myer bought ones. Kinda feels watered down. Anyone else feel this?

    • +4

Very old stock or poorly stored might lead to degradation I'd wager. Wouldn't be surprised if these sat in hot warehouses for a long while.

    • +2

I haven't tested the same Cologne from Myer vs CW side by side, but the Cologne I've bought from CW does seem to fade quick.

    • +1

Same here, owned 4 colognes from Chemist warehouse. All of them had only been able to hold its scent for merely a few hours. Big difference compared to one's I bought from international airports and the like. I dont order quality colognes from chemist warehouse anymore, not worth it. Unless its 90% off

    • +1

      They're legit.

      • +7

Legit, but old stock or store poorly.

        • You can easily check the batch date with one of the websites offering that service.

    • +17

You need to pay attention to the EDT vs EDP on the label. EDP are generally the strongest / longest lasting scents.

Concentration of different types of aromatic substances is as follows: Perfume extract – 15-40%, Eau de perfume – 10-20%, Eau de toilette – 5-15%, Eau de cologne – 3-8% and Aftershave – 1-3%.

The intensity of the fragrance and how long it will last after application depends upon the concentration of aromatic compounds in relation to the solvents. The larger this percentage, the stronger the fragrance, and longer its effect on skin be felt.

I got about 5 bottles of various cologne from CW and all of them lasted all day. Well I can still smell it during evening shower. So I guess that is more than 12hours.

      • +14

Yeah the people commenting "fake / not sure real" think they're getting a superior product from Myer because they're paying more. It's the old fallacy of "higher price = higher quality"… let them pay more at Myer, all good, it helps drive our economy.

          • +5

@PR0r: Why are you on Ozbargain? I don't think many of us in here pays full price for anything.

We often check Ozbargian for special and reduced price on items that sometimes we don't even need.

Sad but I've spent at least half a day on Ozbargian even when I'm at work..

Maybe I'm a addicted to bargain and you're addicted to paying full price?

            • +2

@HandsomeMonkey: Mate I was joking. I'm the biggest tight ass you'll ever meet

              • +5

@PR0r: Should have added /s at the end of the sentence. I can't tell if you were serious or not.

              • @PR0r: Don't worry. Most people have zero sense of humour.

          • @PR0r: a lot of pork chops not reading the sarcasm in this.

        • +3

So true, it's like buying brand names T-shirt from Myer. People tend to think buying those shirts gets them great quality shirts however I got myself a few T-shirts from Cambodia night markets and even after 2 years it still looks great after so many washes. Those expensive ones didnt even lasted a year.

    • +1

i totally agree, i did research online apparently its the temperate they store the fragrances its too hot and looses smell, and then they probably buy the bad stock off retailers and sell it at cw

    • Came back to comment that this I bought this from CW and shit is potent. Most colognes I use 2-3 sprays and the scent is gone a few hours later. This one I used one spray and its lingering to the point where even after a shower I can still smell it. Pretty intense stuff or my nose is sensitive to this scent.

  • Could be out dated stock

    • +10

You can check the date of manufacture here:

      http://www.checkfresh.com/

The Versace I bought from CW last week was produced 7 months & 29 days ago..,

Edit: someone beat me to it

    • Nope. Check batch date you’ll be surprised

      • That’s exactly what I did 😑😑

  • +1

Last time i bought the intense version blingly and love it. Will definitely buy this one blindly again.

  • +8

For those wondering, you can check which batch your fragrance is from

    http://www.checkfresh.com/

I can imagine CW ones would be older.

    • -1

      Wrong

      • Thanks man. You've got some really valid points.

        • The point is you “imagine” things. Try verify things you’ll see the CW stock is not older than other stores. If you are aware of the whole reformulated fragrances story it would actually be better if they had old stock.

  • is this as good as stratos, ie. bogan blue?

  • -7

ISsy this a price Mi-yAke? Or is it true Bleue?

    • +2

      Nice one Dad

      • -2

I'm might also have to buy a pregnancy test to see if my wife is pregnant…

        • No need.
          Sometimes you just know

        • +2

          She's probably just obese.

  • I find the parfum versions last longer that Toilette versions.

I bought a CW CK toilette version and its pretty weak.

    • +13

Thats how it’s meant to be?

      • Yep. I am not convinced that CW to be blamed here compared to Myers etc.

Tbh I dont see the point of the Toilette versions.

    • -1

All the Calvin Klein are heavily reformulated regardless the shop you buy them.

  • +1

    eau pisse fort

  • +2

This one from memory, smells very very different from the popular IM for men original (white matte bottle), not in a good way. so better try before you buy.
and this one was $19.95 at MyChemist last year or something, and another 10% off on a VIP night, and you get 5% MC points for cash vouchers so it's not the cheapest LOL

  • +3

Not sure about this one but my Hugo Boss perfume from CW doesn't really fade away..Still gets me heaps of compliments..

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/76881/hugo-boss-the-…

The thing about Myers and David Jones perfumes being better or CW perfumes being watered down doesn't really hold true for me..Nyws I guess if you got the money to throw around..Why not..You keep paying double for the same frag..I'll keep buying from where I get the best bang for my buck..

    • Hugo boss is exactly the one I got recently, an no, the scent does not last, compared to the ones I bought from Melb airport.
      YMMV I guess.
Don't know what's your point with adding that last sentence of yours, but Okay.

      • When did you buy your airport fragrance?

  • +2

Will this turn me into a handsome monkey?

    • +29

No, there is already a HandsomeMonkey 🐵. You might turn into a HandsomeDonkey?

      • +2

Member since 2009, this is legit haha

      • Classic!!!

    • yep. just bath in it before work/school.

    • Ask an ex Sydney Swans player.

  • +2

Perfumes get reformulated and so recent batches are not always the best. Reformulations usually water down the fragrance. So its not because its from CW the perfumes don't last long. Some fragrances are well known to lack in performance and some perform well. It is to do with the type of perfume and the batch.

    • -1

Yep people compares a 10 yo perfume with a today one, heavily reformulated, and think they are not genuine.

  • +1

I buy most of my colognes from Chemist Warehouse and they have all been legit and perfectly fine, if you're worried just check the batch number. Tbh I would think Myer has older batches considering how empty the stores are these days.

  • +1

Yeah. I bought many from CW and checked the dates on the website suggested by others. It's legit. All of them are brand new. At least for my case.

  • +1

Will girls like me now if I sprayed this on me

    • +1

Girls will never going to like you if they never liked you from the start. Praying anything on youruself does not make you a different person.
If you're a stinker. It doesn't matter if you sprayed the whole bottle on yourself you'll still be a stinker.

      • The Easter Bunny still loves us, right?

      • +1

        What if I sprayed twice

        • +3

you heard the man, once a stinker always a stinker.

    • -1

      Not with this particular one.

  • +1

    Good toilet water

  • +4

Cw perfumes are cheap merely because they buy it from developing countries from there they buy it cheap. Its not because they stored in hot warehouse' s or closer to expiry.. Same applies to those whose buy T-shirt s from COTD or similar retailers. Most of their stuffs come from thailand or Some EU coutries.

By the way most of the mens colognes are toilettes that doesn't last like perfumes.. Which is mainly for women's

    • -1

You are not updated, these days pratically every men fragrance offers a eau de parfum option, with in theory a higher concentration of oils

  • +2

i own this fragrance. 2 bottles - one at my place and one at my girlfriend's.

It has a pine forest kind of smell to it, with spices - reminds me of a forest lodge with a fire place drinking a hot spicy tea kind of feel.

The spiciness is challenging up front but if you like pine then it is very pleasant. The lingering smell is nice too. It is quite strong and i find it does have staying power.

I would say this is a fragrance for hanging out with loved ones, going out to dinner, or dates.

It is a mature one… not for clubbing.

    • +3

I got one today, they didn't have any sample for me to try out but it was the last one so I bought it anyway.

It is definitely not for everyone, I highly recommend everyone to try this first before you buy it (yes even at $20).

You've nailed the smell descripition perfectly, pine (wood) with spices haha. The lingering smell is somewhat sweeter tho.

    • Definitely agree with the cabin in the woods kinda smell, still a very masculine scent

    • Do you work in sensory science?

      • +1

no im an optometrist which is a different sense.

  • Thanks OP, got one today. Store must have been inundated as sales staff knew what I was asking for as I mumbled my way through pronouncing Bleauuuuu. Was the last one left. I'll be smelling $20 fresher tomorrow

  • +1

plenty of stock in CW on Collins/Swanston in Melbourne CBD. they didn't know the sale was on, price on the shelf was $39.99, but it scanned as $20.14 at the register, who cares about 15 cents.

smells really nice, looking forward to wearing it tomorrow. just like described above, fresh upfront with warm spicy pine lingering scent afterwards. thank you OP.

  • My local CW at times wraps their colognes/perfumes tester bottles in plastic and sells them $5 to $10 cheaper than normal prices. These testers have hardly anything used out of them so I've stocked up on a few various colognes. The money they get from selling these testers cheaper they donate to charity.
