Same on EPP. I got mine today seems okay, nice grippy soft plastic to hold the phone in place whilst charging.

Power banks with Qi seem like a dumb idea to me. You're lugging it around, so presumably you expect the need to charge, but you don't want to carry a tiny cable?
Then once you do charge your phone, you can barely use it or even move it around without fear of breaking the connection.
Then while you are stuck in one spot waiting for it to wirelessly charge, you're charging slower AND at a low lower efficiency than you would be with a cable.

    • I do wonder what the efficiency loss is here… surely it would be significant.

I've got one (not the Samsung one), it works well when travelling. Also, can charge my family member's different phones without having to carry separate USBC, Lighting, MicroUSB cables. Everything has a use case :)

At that point you're banking on everyone's phone having Qi charging though aren't you?

        • Yes. And I wouldn't imagine there to be too many Micro USB devices that support Qi charging.

@b2dz: You could probably count them on your hands and feet.

    • Very good point, was just about to buy one but yes, that is exactly what will happen

    • Some devices (mainly smartwatches and Wireless Buds) charge through Qi too so there's probably some use of it this way. You might want to use the USB port to HDMI out as an example but want to charge at the same time.

Does my rechargeable toothbrush as well which is a huge bonus on long trips.

    • I was wondering about the use but think there would be some good use cases, particularly while travelling. Presumably you won't be using the Qi when the device is in your pocket but it could be a nice to have when your at a hotel and want to charge devices on a bedside table such as a phone or smart watch. This allows you to do that from the battery while its plugged into power and itself charging, and during the day it can double as a backup battery pack without you needing to pack both a battery pack and a seperate phone/watch charger.

I think Qi on the go has less utility but if you have a smart watch thats running dry then you might be able to use this over a lunch break to get enough battery in to last the rest of the day or at least until you hit somewhere more permanent.

Maybe the Qi means one or two less cables to carry if you have a mix of lightening, micro usb, USB-C devices that happen to have Qi as an option also.

    • Doesn't your argument apply to any Qi charger? If it's plugged into a wall by a cable then you can plug the cable into the phone instead. Same argument with not being able to use the phone without the likelihood of breaking the connection.

      • Qi on your bedside cabinet or desk makes some sense since you are quite likely to leave your phone there still for longer periods of time, and you're using main electricity not battery.

        • If it's sitting there still then you can just plug it in.

  • Great find.

I like that you can use wired or wireless charging with this unit (allowing 2 devices to charge at the same time; one wired, the other wireless).

  • Anyone know if this works through a case okay?

    • I've found that depends upon the case your using. On my s8 my thick case wont charge with either a 5w or 10w charger, note 9 with Samsung official leather case will. Ymmv.

    • My s7 in an ottobox cant wireless charge on these powerbanks, my partners iphone x through a slim plastic case can charge though. So depends on the case

  • I see they also have the 128gb S10+ for $1199.20 delivered - is this the best price going on AU stock currently for those of us who don't work for a company partnered with Samsung?

I still have access to my old uni student email, which seems to have given me access to this store which is nice.

  • Has anyone tried charging Apple Watch with that?

    • +1

      It will work.

    • +1

It'll only work through the USB cable, the Apple Watch isn't Qi compatible

      • Thanks. I meant wirelessly, ofcourse : )

  • How does this compare with the Kogan 10000mAh Qi Wireless Power Bank with QC 3.0 & PD that's $29? No Shipster anymore but there's the option of a Kogan First trial (or $7.99 shipping to my post code). I'm a bit annoyed that I spent $39 back in November. It's barely had any use so I can't say much about it other than it holds a charge well.

    • It has Micro USB .. whilst I know it also has USB-C, I'm not buying any device with Micro USB.

  • I was about to buy this last night … But no Power Delivery.

  • this or the Xiaomi ZMI 10 QB815 15,000mAh for $49 from Kogan Delivered?
