That's what people said about the PS2 and PS3, you're crazy if you're spending $7-800 on a new console on release. The PS4 will still be going strong years after the 5 is released.

      • In my experience selling the older consoles for cash to buy the new one cuts about 200-300 off the price, and i don't think a console has been 800 on release since the ps3 lol

    • +3

You're dreaming if you think PS5 is coming out in 6 months. It's at minimum 16 months away (Holiday 2020).

  • Anyone seen any Ubiquiti Unifi gear on sale?

  • Can someone help me "watch" deals? I click on the deal to watch but cant find where the watching list is?

    • Click on accounts and lists on the top right under your name

      • +1

I think you're mixing watch and wish.

There's no way I can figure to see Watched items on desktop, only on the app. Please prove me wrong though Im sick of having to use App just to track my Watched items.

        • I could only find it on my app too, glad I am not the only one!

        • Where do I find it on my app?

  • -6

Got downvoted in the eBay thread yesterday about how lame prime day would be, not surprised at all. Amazon AU is 95% useless, compared to eBay.

    • +7

Lol ive bought way more from amazon in a year then ebay in 4 so its subjective to what you need.

      • -2

If you've not bought much from eBay over 4 years compared to Amazon, then you are buying some strange stuff from Amazon.

I'm sure it's relative. But PRIME DAY is still crap.

        • +2

I bought coke. 40cents a can after rebate is pretty great. Um what have i bought…

Aprox 12 xbox 1 games 4 ps4 games a controller a xbox 1 minecraft for $180 a ps4 pro for a gift aprox 180 kirks cans for my boss for work (catering function where we had to give drinks with food) coke for home and work 30kg cooking choc for like $37 nestle brand 3x6 pack cantong green thai curry sauce and a (profanity) load more including new taps/shower head and bathroom towel rail set.

Oh and like 26 bags of mega blocks 80 packs when they were 2 for $10 spend 79 get $20 off. So 6 bags was costing $10 lol, gave some to friends some to locoal school prep class nd opened 1000 blocks worth for neice to build a castle lol.

Point is i got my moneys worth.

          • -2

@Seedy seed: ha, 40c Coke … that's a regular Coles deal. Kirks, like BigW has slabs of that for $4.99 and pallets at a time. Mega block .. AliExpress level of deals. But I'm glad you've gotten your money's worth.

Non of which negates my comment that Amazon Prime day is all hype no substance.

            • +8

@Rumbaar: Calling shenanigans on Coles regularly having 40c Coke cans.

            • +2

@Rumbaar: Can say coke hasnt been 50c a can here in 5-6 years?

    • +4

Amazon AU is 95% useless, compared to eBay

Which is impressive given how s**t eBay is itself.

  • +6

    Jeez… what a stinker.

  • +1

If only Amazon now comes out with Airpods for even $150 I'm sure they'll win a lotta customers

  • +2

Kinda sad but also kinda glad that the deals aren't great so that I haven't ended up spending too much this Prime Day. Last year's one was amazing compared to this Amazon event

  • +10

Well this has been a prime disappointment, what a waste of a day thought they would drop some hot deals but no
Only a few items selling out fast . A big let down amazon ( I know you are watching 👁 )

    • +1

I only bought coke and some usb cables lol kinda shit.

  • Everyone saying it’s a disappointment and I’ve emptied my bank account. It’s been great for me.
Was hoping for something on a Nespresso machine as my 10 year old in has just died. Nothing yet.

  • +21

I just worry that people are forgetting what Prime day is really about and who died to make it possible.

    https://i.imgur.com/7freLGU.jpg

    • +5

      I'm sad now :(

      • Its ok you'll feel better soon. You've got the touch. You've got the power.

  • +11

Man prime day has been severely underwhelming. I've got through Amazon sales PS4 Pro for $369 When Amazon launched and Xbox One S Minecraft for $179. 3DS XL's for $99 and 2DS XL Pokeball edition for $79.

Seems like they didn't have any good sales this year when Prime day is meant to be their biggest sales day of the year?

  • any good USA prime day deal?

  • Has anyone had similar issues to the comments regarding used games being sold by Amazon? https://www.amazon.com.au/Nintendo-Super-Mario-Odyssey/dp/B0…

    • -1

if i have switch i will buy.
turn out 2nd hand ? just do chat with amazon i am 90% sure they will refund you in full and you can keep the game. well, i hope….

      • I did order one yesterday. Delivered today. It is NOT in a sealed pack, unlike the ones that I have bought previously. Does anyone know if this can be verified ?

        • The one I ordered is sealed in plastic but most of my switch games from amazon aren't. There's no way to tell from my knowledge.

  • +15

this year will be remembered forever: i bought laundry powder during prime day.

    • And me a box of nappies

      • +6

You know Chemist Warehouse often have 50% off on those nappies, so the PRIME deal wasn't even that good.

        • +12

          Thanks for the salt man

  • Dont believe the hype, nothing here move on, only prime members will be buying j7nk to try and cover their costs for membership.

    • +3

You mad we get free shipping, deals and a streaming service for the price of a subway sanga a month…

I feel sorry for people paying top dollar for netflix to scroll for hours looking for something good to watch.

      • this. nothing to watch on netflix

      • +1

If in doubt, just watch Bob Ross. Worth the Netflix subscription alone. :)

    • Yeah, if you want JANK items. This is meh at best. If you want a good deal on anything electronic, you'll get a USB drive …

    • Just bought a graphic novel for like $20 off and earlier 36 coke cans for $18. A mate got that soniq 55" 4k tv for $350.

I mean sure, maybe not a lot of great deals, but I'm happy.

  • +3

Looks like the New 3DS XL deal for $99 will never be repeated, shame for everybody who missed out the last time since there have been very few comparable 3DS deals since :(

  • can someone help me how to set shopback app to open amazon app instead of browsing via shopback?

    • Maybe not possible - see this comment. Likely apply to both Cashrewards and Shopback.

      • +1

        thanks mate :)

  • I made a purchase this morning about 7am through cashrewards app,but still waiting for it to be tracked, anyone got similar issue?

    • Orders will be tracked & processed automatically into your Cashrewards account as pending within 4 days of purchase

  • Has anyone been able to order something to be delivered to a parcel Locker? I haven't been able to do it. Keeps rejecting the address?

    • Nope. Seems like they won't apply discounts for Parcel Locker or Amazon Locker addresses.

    • Haven't had any problems with parcel lockers, I use them exclusively for Amazon AU and US deliveries.

  • +8

Is anyone else disappointed with the sale? Lots of stuff not worth buying in my opinion. Normally I’d find something worth impulse buying but not this time.

    • +7

Yes, very disappointed. Can't believe they wont discount the Switch.

    • I pulled the trigger on a Fitbit Charge 3 as it looks to be the best price yet, but that is a pretty niche item.

    • Extremely. I thought they'd be going all out this time, especially if they want to start overtaking eBay sales. Starting to wonder if i'll bother to renew my Prime membership now.

  • +3

This is a joke, I haven't seen one thing worth purchasing. Sad.

    • I’m looking and looking, but eBay is having a 20% off sale and is cheaper so this Prime day gets a big meh from me.

  • I had some specific items I wanted to get this prime. Protein powder (just ran out), some headphones for work and a new high fps monitor since my last one died.

Have purchased 2 of the three (there have been marginally better deals for these in the past, but timing is important as well), so I'm pretty happy haha

  • Thought I'd fire up my Prime trial for this event but only bought two things - both on behalf of work. Good for my wallet, but not what I was hoping!

  • There's a Dyson V11 Absolute at 11am, I wonder if it's going to be cheaper than eBay's recent offer.

    • Where did you see this upcoming deal? I didn't see it on the pages from Amazon

  • Disappointing event :( had a stupid amount of bank roll saved up too. Ah well, back into savings!

  • +1

Nah even I’m on the “Prime Day is a let down” team. I like how Rocco was talking up the sales they’d have said they’d have Le Creuset stuff then today yeah it’s there just some Casserole Dishes…? Just junk today, the pittance they let us buy from US is junk. While yeah has been some cheap crap there’s been nothing standing out.

    • what exactly what you were expecting? the 'casserole dishes' are their most famous product.

      • Frypan.

  • +5

Pretty piss poor sales this year, nothing of interest what a flop !

  • I was waiting for a decent deal for nintendo switch, still no deal on this.

PS4 is a good alternative for me. PS4 pro deal was good, but I missed that 4 minutes window for $330, and apparently I don't want to pay one dollar more than that this time.

Sony wh-1000xm3 was quite attractive but I wanted silver color rather than black.

Bose QC35 is good too but discount is not as good as Sony.

Instant noodle was not too bad but limit to one for each flavor, and only 4 flavors. I don't bother to place an order for just less than 3 dollars.

The only good thing for this event up to now is that I have wasted a lot of time browsing deals and I registered Amazon prime for a free trial. It is ok for watching some movies with my new TV.

  • +7

The only thing incredible about these deals is the amount of them that sit at 0% claimed.

    • +2

Even more incredible are the amount of bad deals that are selling.

      • Gotta spend that $10 credit on something, I guess.

        • yeah same here need to spend $10 from prime video

        • I suspect I will be wasting that credit. It shouldn't be hard to find something useful for ~$20 but dang am I struggling.

        • If this is the $10 credit requiring $49 min spend, just get coca cola x 2 and maybe some kirks or mt franklin. 7% cashback on groceries and these things are inevitably consumed at parties/events.

  • +1

Bought Alien and Predator blurays for $6 a pop… all ive gotten so far lol

  • I checked on Amazon prime sale yesterday, the price was $199 for an item but today it is $311 and not part of Prime sale anymore, they took it out, can they do so?

    • what was the item, it goes back to original price if it gets sold out

      • +1

It was a Philips pressure/slow cooker
        https://www.amazon.com.au/Philips-Premium-Pressure-HD2178-72…

It was in stock on second day of sale.

To insult the customer service representative offer me $10 instead of usually $5 voucher, I said her to donate it.

        • Get the HD2237 instead? it's regularly on sale. $179 at the moment at the good guys

  • Bought a waterpik but that's it.

  • +1

Agree that its been a pretty disappointing sale.

Got a few household items and used up the Prime Video credit but last year had better deals. Comparing this to the eBay Plus sale, I think Amazon really missed the mark. I got a few of those $1 bargains (sodastream, electric toothbrush & portable charger) and was raving about it to everyone for a fortnight. Wasn't even things I essentially needed but just the craziness was worth talking about.

There hasn't been much to be overly excited about by comparison.

  • +11

Amazon had a huge opportunity here by taking advantage of the huge tax returns people got, but instead they delivered pure trash today. Once again I'll say it, but I, and multiple other friends (and users here, apparently) were very ready to finally pull the trigger on buying the OG Nintendo Switch today and it never happened. What a colossal failure by Amazon AU.

    • Count me in, was ready to buy OG Switch plus 3 games. Back to PS4 for me :)

      • Me too. Was gonna pick up Mario Kart, Odyssey and maybe a Pokemon game

    • +4

The Switch was literally all I signed up to prime for. Now I'm spending the rest of ~prime day~ sadly refreshing the Switch page every once in a while. I expect to go through the rest of the five stages of grief once midnight hits.

    • +1

Mate couldn't have put it better myself, I am armed with tax return money, they did not show up. They spent more on marketing the event than actually delivering the savings to customers.

e.g. Sydney CBD, they painted an entire public wall and had hipsters handing out leaflets.

  • +4

As an Amazon fanboy, have to say, deals have been mediocre. They spent more on marketing this year than delivering on the goods. I saw so many Amazon hipster wannabe employees walking around the CBD in Sydney hyping it up, they even painted a mural for the event. Such a shi't show.

    • +4

I walked past that at wynyard this morning and it made me mad

  • Been apart of every amazon sale and this is by far the worst.

  • +4

Well, they still have 6 hours to deliver, but I guess costumers already lost hope and left…
Not a single deal that we hadn't seen cheaper before. Way to go Amazon! What a BS sale.
At least match last years' price on a year older technology.
Party time for other retailers. They probably see now Amazon won't be the threat once feared.

  • I was looking for Lifx A60 to go an a sale. Hmmm..

  • toilet paper, instant noodle, those boring items that you can get from coles at promotional half price sale.
why amazon is trying so hard to fail?
doesn't appear like bargain to me (except a CK shirt, which I paid $27 for it), but just an event and an opportunity for amazon to dumb some unpopular stocks

    • Yeah I'm a tech gadget person but what I get so far is air fryer.

      • I bought some incense to burn and a GPU card- Asus GTX1650. Both got nothing to do with Prime Day, just expedited shipping from Amazon USA.
I am quite a tech guy as well, but Windows 10 took all the fun out of building pcs.

  • If I can get an Amazon Prime 6 mo th membership through here (using edu.au address) then can I use that as an Amazon AU prime member?

    https://www.amazon.com/joinstudent

(Need to put in card details and don't want to add them if I get an upfront charge for something I can't use)

  • Had stuff ordereded yesterday (1st day of Prime Day) arrive in country Vic this morning. So at least the Amazon warehouse staff and Australia Post on their game.

  • +1

So I guess now we can safely say that the best deals on prime day sale have been from Ebay. I am actually a big fan of Amazon but this prime day sale has been quite lame
