I don't suppose you could post an image the actual ladder?

Please add store to title too

  • +20

I suppose we can drop it off at a recycle centre and get more then $2 for that much of aluminum?

  • wow Very cheap

  • +9

Whoa, ive never needed a ladder before in my life but im still thinking about buying one haha. Veryyy cheap.

    • +62

you'll be a step further in life :P

  • Its true, maybe the computer system was wrong price; but item description correct.

    • was this price marked anywhere, or did you just need a ladder and hit the jackpot at the cashier?

  • +2

I have made a few similar "insanely cheap" purchases in the past at KMart. I love the way the young checkouts don't even query the price. Obviously this can't be right but they don't bother to question it. In my case it was two banana lounges for 30 cents. Super cheap ladder. Well done.

    • +4

Actually the "young checkouts" should report it to their manager on duty so they can change it to a more "reasonable" price. However, most of the time the manager is floating around the store somewhere so people like yours truly don't bother unless it's something like 2c. But anyway, the reason they're super cheap is basically because they're quit cycle stock which means they've been on the system for over a fixed amount of time and the longer it stays in the cheaper it will get (which often happens to a LOT of apparel, just scan it up on the machines beforehand and whatever comes up on the machine will be the same as at the registers).

  • Have to go to Kmart anyway so I'll check it out… awesome price!

    • not at bankstown

  • Incredible. Did you know that it was $2 before you took it to the counter? Was the price labelled or came up in a scan?

  • +4

Kmart seem to be getting rid of alot of products recently, I went there the other day and noticed they were clearing out office furniture.

Small Bookshelves for $10, Computers Desks for $10 etc.

    • Kmart sure is getting rid of a lot of stuff, and its all the good stuff thats going, some of the brand names loved and trusted are being replaced by the Kmart brand, which seems like high prices. At least we are seeing some good discounts on the good stuff.

      • computer desk for 10 bux? now that's a bargain

  • +1

lucky my K-mart is 24 hours.. might give it a shot! lol

  • +6

Just came back from my local K-mart and what do you know the (only) 3.2m ext ladder scanned up at $2.

    Very Happy :)

    Thanks OP

  • I need a ladder I might check my local kmart tomorrow!

  • +3

Anyone confirm this is at more than 1 Kmart?

Kmart is becoming pretty much a copy of The Reject Shop…

    • not at bankstown

  • +2

    anyway burwood Kmart let's go~

  • +11

I donated $5 to the guy sitting outside Coles today. Could have gotten myself two of these!

  • +10

Well this deal makes everything else seem very expensive.

  • +4

Kmart is going crazy at the moment.. yesterday I bought 2 x $20 itunes cards for $22.50!! :)

    • serious? is that another deal? can i get that?

      • Kmart currently has 2x $20 cards for $30. How do you get $22.50?

    • I went yesterday and payed $30 =(

      • He mentioned in another post ot was a keying error at the cash register, so its not an available price.

  • +1

bought an extension cord for $2 bux the other week from kmart

  • +11

I bought some tim tams for $2 once

  • There are none at Campbellfield, VIC. :-(

    • Damn, should of checked my iPhone, just got back from there :(
Could've saved me the trip :(

      • none at airport west either… ended up buying a smaller crappy one for 35 bux… still not bad…

  • Kmart have really cleared their shelves of brands. It's almost as though they have one item in every category (generally their home brand). They have cleared out all the brands of stationary pretty much too so no <15c pencils either ;-)

    • +3

They did some analysis and found people were apparently shocked by choice. They also found out that if you control the supply chain (in house brand) you make a lot more money. At least until ppl notice your inhouse brand has shitty quality

      • +2

That's what Aldi have been doing since day 1

        • +3

Yes, although Aldi's quality control and product selection is much better.

  • +1

I want this ladder! Just to brag I got a ladder for 2 bucks, might not ever take it out of the packaging :P

  • +16

To think only yesterday I would have paid at least $3 for a ladder..

  • +1

    I want this ladder bad!!

    • +2

ooh i think u n i got a bit too raunchy in your vera's wang post, mod not only deleted our comments but closed commenting for the entire deal LOL

      • +3

        I know… :@
They have no sense of humour…I am a uni student.. how matture do they think I can be.

        • oh dear the whole post was shut down! welcome to the web - highest rated deal one day, penalty box the next!

        • now I wanna know what you guys wrote?

any chance it was related to "wang" part?

        • checked ozbargains when my exams finished and missed out on the vera post :(

        • .

  • +21

Why does ozbargain make me want to buy sh!t i never need?

I'm going to kmart tomorrow just to see if they still have one of these available, and if there is I'm sure I'll check this post on my iphone for new messages of how this is selling out like wildfire everywhere.

Then I'll slowly reason to myself that bragging rights alone are worth the $2 for this ladder you desk jockey! as I approach the checkout with a mental grin and ladder under my arm…

Hi. My name is Ccrap and I have a bargain problem.

    • +1

Leon's basically said "Free ladders at Kmart". Anyone who doesn't want a free ladder has clearly got too much money.

  • -7

Kmart is losing direction and becoming $2 shop.

  • +2

I've been to Kmart 24, none available, check with customer service, none stock in Victoria.

As I am a ozbargainer, I thought they might have in other store, I went to second store at 8:10, none in stock.

Injured while checking price of 3.7m .. mm

original price like 30, sharp nut come out at side, rather not buying if full priced…

    • I'm in Victoria by the way..

Driven like 50 km total this morning…

      • +3

Seems like Coles/Kmart will be making more profit on fuel sales than the loss of profit on a few cheap ladders.
        Pretty good marketing really.

  • +3

There will always be stuff like this that gets down to insanely cheap prices. They mark down the price in head office, then sent advice out to stores to mark it down. Most stores miss things here and there. Customers obviously didn't buy it full price, and while it still has a full price ticket it will just sit there until a random customer scans it, or buys it cheap. The computer will keep marking stuff down when it see's that stores still have stock of it, until it is down to 1 cent or they write it off. They also have a rule for the operators that whatever it scans up as, they cannot mark the price up.

  • +1

I was told by our local Kmart mamanger that when they have a few items left for a brand or range they want toget rid of, they drop the price to $1 or $2. I bought a pair of steel cap boots for $1 (normally $99) because they weren't going to stock them anymore and wanted them gone.

  • +1

So the OP and one other poster got a $2 ladder (dont think I missed anyone)
The vote seems to suggest that plenty of others might have one or two as well.
Did any more than 2 people get lucky with finding this ladder and if so where?

  • -2

i called a few SEQ Qld stores and they all said its quit stock and that there is none left. if anyone finds any QLD stores that have any left please let me know as i really need a ladder.

    • +6

Yeah none at Robina or The pines.. Just bought a work ute too.. I could have looked legit if I had a $2 ladder on the back.. Ah well

      • +1

did you call monkeycheese? funnily enough whilst i was chrcking out the ladders at robina, someone was talking to the kmart chick asking about the ladders.

        • +1

I went in there and proceeded to take all the ladders to the price checker.. didnt talk to anyone.. felt a lil embarrassing tho lol

  • Brilliant find. None at my K-Mart although the 1.8m folding step ladder is reduced to $35. Seems overpriced now :-(

    • +8

      why so serious?

      Not Gerry harvey are you?

    • A shareholder would want 2+ ladders collecting dust cleared so an item with higher turnover could be stocked. That is why their lines are being cleared and why Kmart's performance has improved more recently.
All stores ("Aussie" or otherwise) eventually reduce price/clear stock that is not selling. It's hardly their regular price.

      • Marketing 101. => Loss Leader + Inventory Clearance

Doing the latter, by maintaining the full price (which was obviously not appealing to customers), and subsequently resulting in longer inventory cycling = bad marketing strategy

I'd say thats a positive result for all involved in this scenario.

  • No Ladder at Pagewood, Eastgardens :(

  • +1

    WooooooooooooooooooooWHoooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!
    3.6M Multi-Fold Ladder $10.

    What-A-Bargain !!!

    Thanks Leon3758 !!!
    Thanks OzBargain
Thank you ball boys, Thank you linesmen

    :-)

    • Where was the $10 one? There was only on multi-fold I saw and it wasn't cheap/reduced.

      • +2

Agreed. The multifold was still full price, $79 @ Campbellfield last night (shelf price + price check).

        • (or airport west) for those looking.

  • +2

I assume this thing extends to a maximum of 3.2m?

Meaning it is about half that size when not extended?

Need to fit this in my Getz!

  • +1

only 3.7m multi-fold at my local Kmart, which I did price-check … $79, hopefully this one will be on clearance soon !

  • +1

Becareful the multi-fold ladder, its easy broken as my last one was it.

  • Multi fold $79 @ my local also

  • Multi Fold was at Bendigo. It was only one on display and did not have a ticket on it or the shelf.

For $10 I'm sure I can get value for money before I break it.

    :-)

    • +1

You wont want to be on the ladder when it breaks :D

      • +5

compensation for a faulty product might just make it worth it

  • +1

i had a look in canberra and the only ladders were 35 marked down from 45 :( not sure which size it was tho, but i checked the price scanner

    • damn…You checked belconnen right?
I might check Tuggers if I go to Woden today

  • checked perth morley store…ZIP
they had the reduced down to $35 and the multi fold for $79.
scanned both just in case but no miracle $2 prices

well done to those that scored

  • -4

Not bargain when not available nationally at resonable stock.

    • +5

Sorry but that is not the definition used here. Many are not Nationally available, e.g. the Adidas sale next weekend in Vic only.

  • +3

The image of people making a midnight trip to a 24-hour Kmart to get the $2 ladder reminds me of the Wal-Mart episode of South Park :D

    • +1

I was amused by that last night too. I figured that if I was not alone in the ladder dept then my shopping companions had to be ozbargainers. Perhaps we could get a national census by simply looking at the footage from kmart security cameras over the past 24 hours?

      • They would have been wondering why so many people were price checking ladders all of a sudden too! lol

Still curious if there were more than 2 ladders at this price across Aust? ;-)

Now there's an official ozbargain uniform (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/45623) coupled with dating services. Gotta love it!

Following onto that post, we now have an official Ozbargain ladder.

  • +1

My heart skipped a beat when I saw a 3.7m ladder at my local. But alas, it scanned at $79. That was the most exciting part of my day. Thanks to OP for posting this. Sad indictment of my life really.

Ah crap now that I looked at it again…it's supposed to be 3.2m…

    • I did exactly the same thing. didn't find the price tag of 3.7m ladder and was thinking I'm lucky enough to get one. However, found it's $79 when I took the heavy ladder and run to the price scanner.

  • Can confirm there isn't any at Boronia VIC. Only the 3.7m for $79.

    • Likewise at Fountain Gate, Vic, 3.7m at $79

  • +21

Confucius says " Man who has K-Mart $2…3.2m aluminium ladder,is going to get high really cheap "

  • Love the look on shop assistants faces when expensive items scan up at prices like these!

    • I can remember the reaction of the girl at the checkout when i bought 30 pairs of bonds underwear with $10 cash back coupons, the underwear on clearance for $7-$12ea. Profit. :)
