1640

Greetings everyone, seems like Bunnings has beaten the Thermos Food Flask deal from Aldi but with triple the storage :)

Previously marked at $39.98, and currently also $34.99 @ Tentworld so seems like an excellent deal.

The Roman Vacuum Food Flask is ideal for storing food such as hot dogs, soups or rice dishes while at school, office, worksite or outdoor activities. It features a body made from high quality 18/8 stainless steel and BPA free plastic, plus an alloy jacket on the inner wall for more efficient insulation. The lid features a rubber ring for easy grip and an air tight seal for spill-free use.

Hygienic seamless internal walls
Air tight seal for travelling
18/8 stainless steel twin wall
Twist top cap with lock down lid
BPA free

As always, enjoy!

Thanks to Price Hipster for the update.

How big is your child's lunch box…

  • Heading there after work, just what i was after!

  • +3

Any reviews? Can anyone vouch for it?

    • +4

I just picked up from local Bunnings. it's nothing special, just simple design with a plastic lid but I think it is worth buying at this price and 1.5L is quite large enough for a meal.

      • +1

Any plastic inside or is it all stainless steel?

        • +4

          Stainless

          • @bamzero: The underside of the lid is stainless or plastic?

Companies know people want stainless under the lids and never show that shit

  • +1

Bunnings used to have the same vacuum flask lineup as they do now but with the "Primus" branding and black & red colours.
    What happened to that?

    • -1

      What happened to that?

      It changed to Primus

    • They cleared them out but was able to find a 2.1l one for $12.56 in Springvale today😀!

  • +5

Great for keeping the flamingos' tongues and roast peacock warm.

    • +8

Flamingo's tongues are served cold. Bloody philistine.

    • Exotic dishes

  • +1

    No internal containers required
    Smooth rubber coated finish
    Seamless interior
    Leakproof lid
Keeps food hot for up to 8 hours

  • +8

Carrying hotdogs is exactly the right use for this. Growing up we used to take a Thermos of hotdogs with us to the footy, buns, sauce & mustard in a basket with the Thermos. These days security would no doubt confiscate the lot, but still… Hotdogs

    • Do you just keep the hot dogs in boiling water?

      • +9

Like a true limp bizkit fan

      • +15

Yup. The water is what holds the heat. Remember, hotdogs are already cooked when you buy them, so fill the Thermos with hot water, pop your dogs in & they're ready by the time you want lunch

        • +9

This guy is the real MVP.

        • +8

"Pop your dog's in" is my quote of the day!

    • +2

      Ozbargain hero

    • Does the Thermos then eventually become impregnated by the hotdogs flavour of the hotdogs?
Like, you'd only want to use this thermos for hotdogs after that? Not gonna be getting hotdog flavoured coffee etc later down the track?

Am I the only one who read this 5 times as "ROBOT Vacuum Food Flask " trying to understand it? Got excited thinking I would be able to extend my storage bin on my vacuum…

    • +3

      Yes

    • +1

      absolutely

edit: bet it has something to do with xiaomi

Picked one from Collingwood. I had to show the online price to get $9.94.

    • Have to do the same n took 2

    • +1

Same. The cashier believes it to be a pricing error, though they honoured it, anyway.

First time I saw a flask (grade 3), it left a lasting impression. Seemed tailored made… Steamed DimSims!

(edit: Insert cat joke. Sorry ppl, joke's gone)

    • +1

      Negged?
Weird. Give steamed dimmies a try, beautiful!

  • Good price. Couldn't figure out a use for it. Too big to carry.

    • me neither, i'll decide later or sell them on. $15 each.

  • Just grabbed the last one from the Noosa store

The Aldi 500ml ones are the perfect fit for a diswasher. Yes more expensive but I been bringing 2 x 500ml daily with me to work this week and loving it.

    • I had a look at the ALDI ones. They are too narrow in the mouth for a useful food container. Because of that the thermos ones on Amazon are worth the more than double the price IMHO.

The Roman ones are cleaned out at Mt Gravatt despite what it says on the website.

      • Did you check other stores? I went there too.

        • Thought about going to cannon hill but website said low stock so I figured it wasnt worth trying.

          • @entropysbane: I was told at the Mt Gravatt store that on their system there was 1 left at cannon hill but possibly not likely.. Probably they wanted it for themselves. So I went to capalaba and got the last ones of the shelf minutes before closing.

      • Indeed the narrow mouths on the Aldi ones were a deal breaker.

    • I bought an Aldi one and it doesn't work. Pour boiling water in and the outside is instantly warm. Over a couple of hours it had dropped to 40 degrees, in comparison to about 65 in a Decathlon one that actually works. Maybe I just had a faulty one, but I think I'll just return for a refund.

      • Damn decathlon sell them?!

        That store is neat

  • Bunnings Joondalup scanned at $39.98. They would not honour the price. The manager said that its a price error on the website.

    • +1

yeah my store didn't scan at the bargain price but they 'pricematched' themselves.

unfortunately some bunnings managers are twats (bad experiences in the past). i don't think the majority of staff are all that helpful either. but that's what you get with a monopoly.

    • Scanned at the right price in Cannington. It'll help keep my gannet of a son fed as his school lunches never seem big enough.

    • That's strange, I got 1 from Malaga they even had a printed sales price tag on the shelf with the item.

  • +1

Got the last one at Carrum downs and they were really checking it hard with the manager on the phone and said it can't be right but honoured the online price, don't expect it to be up tomorrow

    • It's not. I went this morning to get one.

  • +1

Bunnings price at $9.94 finished tonight at 9 they were price matching Aldi …… tomorrow they will be $39.95
    It’s no price error

  • So not double walled nor vacuum sealed? I see no number of hours it will keep items hot/cold… so probably not very effective?

    • So not double walled nor vacuum sealed?

Have you read the title of this deal?

      Roman Vacuum Food Flask

…. I am well overdue for a weekend is my only excuse

        • Good news. It's the weekend.

  • Grabbed the last two from Marion store in SA just before closing time tonight.

  • 3 left in Bunnings Mindarie store in western Australia. Aisle no 50 on your left hand side

  • What’s the small hole in the lid for?

    • Ventilate the steam before opening.

      • damn, and i thought someone was getting nuked on the other side of the world.

  • +1

Hoppers bunning scanned as 9.94 but on the shelves it was marked at its usual price. Grabbed two. There were still some left around 5 pm.

    • Did you buy from Hopper Crossing bunnings at geelong road? I went there and it was not available, just called them and they said its not available since a long time.

  • None in ashfield and 1 in Artarmon but i doubt it.
    Good luck

    • Was it still 9$?

      • They r $39.95 now at bunnings

        • damn i got a discounted bunnings gc for nothing

      • Yes it was

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed a couple. (Kinda funny when the checkout lady looks at it says oh 1.5Lt, I've been looking for something like this, and only $40. Then I showed her the website @ $10)

Can't see it being worth $40 but at $10 is a bargain. Missus might try thermocooking in it, will see if it insulates well enough.

Test em though. Put boiling water in them when I got home. One stayed cool on the outside, the other got very warm so isn't going to stay hot inside for too long. Vacuum leak I guess (the top will start to warm up eventually where the two steel parts meet, but the bottom half should stay cold still.)
Had to go back and swap with the last one they had on the shelf, which passed the test luckily.

  • Shame, went in saturday morning, no.

  • Looks like the price has now been corrected on the website. I would definitely have picked one up to take camping.
