  • Camera review is not that great & this model mi 9T is cheaper version of mi 9.

    • The mi9 and this are different phones.

Mi9t is the global version of the Redmi K20 which is a lower spec’Ed version of the K20 Pro ( global version call m9t pro)

Also is this a better deal?

    Before anyone asks:

    5G - No
    B28 - Yes
    NFC - Yes

    • Expandable storage and water proofing?

The only issue I have with this phone and the Pro version is no expandable storage. Otherwise it's a tick in every box. Xiaomi are pretty cool.

Got mine earlier this week. Runs great considering it doesn't have a Snapdragon 855, it's better than my old lg v20. I was concerned about expandable storage but I picked up the 32gb+64gb usb-c flash drives for $10 from msy earlier this week so I'm pretty well set.

Honestly if I end up getting one, I think I'd finally get around to just setting up a backup every night. As long as there's enough onboard storage and I do that, I don't really need expandable. Just..nice to have, you know?

Thanks for the comment though, good to hear from folks who've actually used them.

I understand. One of the reasons I stuck with my LG v20 for so long was easily replaceable battery and expandable storage. I could change the batteries when they start failing and I could stick a big 256gb microSD card and not have to worry about it. It feels like you pay more for phones now with less options.

Phone is definitely great. I try to avoid phones with higher resolutions nowadays as it just kills the battery life.

@DangerNoodle: Definitely true. my Lenovo P2 has been my dream phone for quite awhile, but I'm keeping my options for a replacement open. For both myself and the missus.

Quite satisfied with 1080p myself, long as the screen is OLED and the battery is good. Oh, another thing I'm interested in is the camera2 api. Apparently it's enabled on most of these newer Xiaomi phones, meaning I can get the Google Pixel Camera app on it. Have you tried that at all? And if not, how's the camera in general? I just ask because I've always had slow shutter speed + my natural lack of stability means most my photos are crap, haha.

            • +1

@Selenium: I haven't felt the need to install the Google camera as the app that comes with it is quite flexible. It has a bit more adjustability than the v20, iso can go up to 3200, shutter can be adjusted from 1/1000s to 32s. The picture quality is quite good, usually I leave it in 12mp mode for the larger pixels.

The only annoyance I've noticed is if you take a 48mp photo, it takes a while to save and it doesn't let you do anything while it's saving the file.

  • I was dreaming of one of these however they have similar specs to the Galaxy A50 and come from international seller so I imagine warranty is troublesome. Picked up the A50 from TGG for $399 with Aus retail warranty. Makes these a hard sell :(

    • The A50 has a much weaker SoC and worse camera. Samsung midrange camera is mostly meh nowadays, and the Exynos in A50 is nowhere near SD660 it's meant to compete. This has SD730 which is fairly close to SD835 which is 2017 flagship SoC (way ahead of SD660).

      • The Mi 9T also has better cameras and better camera control in pro mode compared to the a50.

I am not a rep but CART3 will give you a bigger discount. Gives 3% off so the black model comes to about $503ish.

  • I went with the Mi 9 SE absolutely love it

  • This is great but I am not a big fan of the pop-up selfie camera (due to its hardware mechanism)
I am personally waiting for the Xiaomi CC9, hopefully there will be an Android One version (AKA Mi A3) - then it would tick most of the boxes

  • Make the 128gb version go under $500 and I will buy

  • I wish there was a sale on the 9T Pro.

  • Hey rep, can you offer the Glacier Blue with the case and screen protector in a bundle (for only a few $ extra like how the offer is currently available for the black version?)

  • Just concerned, if Tobydeals are legit? I ordered a Samsung A20 mobile phone on 27th July and paid through PayPal. I got an email from PayPal stating that payment has been made. However, there is not even a single communication from Tobydeals.. not even a order confirmation email. I am concerned now and have sent an email to Tobydeals customer support, however no acknowledgement.. not even an automated reply. I tried logging into site for tracking order, but it doesn't allow to login. Worried now that I might have lost AUD 214 that I paid for this phone. I have raised a dispute with PayPal, lets see what they come back with. Be careful while ordering on their site, friends.. they seem dodgy..
