[VIC] Melbourne Airport T1234 Parking $7 for 2.5 Hours (Online Booking Hack)

2300

Been a year since this deal was posted and a great reminder on how to score 2.5 hours of parking at Melbourne Airport for just $7 across all 4 terminals. Enjoy :)

(1) Book in advance and pay $7 for 30 minutes. Then…
(2) You may arrive up to one hour before your booked entry time. If you arrive earlier than one hour before your booked entry time, you will be charged at drive-up rates.
(3) There is a one hour grace period for exit after your booked exit time. If you exit more than one hour after your booked exit time, you will be charged for the time beyond one hour after your booked exit time at Melbourne Airport’s Overstay Tariff Car Park rates.

    Nice find!

  •

Didn’t know this included all terminals. Thanks!

  •

    still works? legend!

How to close it though? No one will book online if they aren't given a grace period on entry and exit without additional fees unless the car park significantly reduce the penalty rates for exceeding the time limit.

I'd hope not. Can't imagine that many people popping down to the airport for 2.5 hours for a quick shop.

Easy. Once in, count the timer for paid minutes only. The entry and exit should still be within one hour of in/out time or else charge as per drive-in parking rates.

  •

Does it work with valet parking?

  •

Does the grace period apply for SYD airport as well?

Not true. Used this 3 weeks ago and stayed 2 hours 20 minutes at no extra charge.

Having used it recently, I did stay for a bit over 2 hours (on a half hour booking) and was only charged the $7.

You may arrive up to one hour before your booked entry time. If you arrive any earlier than the time prior to one hour before your booked entry time, you will be charged at drive-up rates (noting that these rates may vary from the rates quoted via the online booking system) and you will not be entitled to a refund or credit on those charges. Wish other airports had this. I looked at Brisbane Airport T&Cs and they dont mention anything clearly even though there is a grace period. Would be good to know, if anyone knows.

  •

Thanks TA. Just need to go there next month.

  •

Yes need it for next month. Thanks TA! Also needed it last month, but net cost is still less😆

    Great Deal!

  •

Thanks TA! wish I had known about this when I went to drop off my sister and we all needed a little longer to say our goodbyes :(

      isa no gooda…

If you really cared about saying goodbye, having to pay extra wouldn't have made a difference.

My sister's 5 years old. There was no way we would just have dropped her off and left. She was clinging to me and didn't want to go back home and my 3 kids were in tears :( We stayed until boarding was closed.
We paid $24 (?) instead of $7 , which is not very ozbargainy.

  •

    Isn't this the normal price?

    • +4 votes

Yes the normal price is $7 for half an hour.
The hack tells you how to stretch the $7 to 2.5 hours

  •

Good reminder OP. I used this hack a week ago and parked for 2 hours and 10 minutes for just $7. Makes the drop off and pick ups at airport so convenient now :)

  •

Love this "hack" and have used it a number of times. Works perfectly every time!

Any long term Melbourne airport parking deals? Looking for October

Someone in WP shared his life hack. You drop off your guests at the airport drop off area then go to the McDonalds that is a minute or two away. Park there, then catch a bus to the airport. A bus runs every 5 minutes. When it's time to leave, you catch a bus back to McDonalds, get your car, and return to the airport to pick up whoever is left if applicable. This way you only pay the bus fare.

Thanks for reposting, had no idea

  •

Does this work in Sydney airport too?

  •

No, looks like it is only a Melbourne airport thing, but it might be just a tad cheaper to book online.

    Pre-paid:
Stay for 1 hour at the International Terminal P7 multi-storey car park for this amazing rate - $15.50
Pre-booked Quick Trip tariff is non refundable inside 24 hours prior to your booked date and time of arrival at the airport
Your Quick Trip can be used any time on the nominated day – the amount of time will begin from when you enter

    P7 Drive Up Rates:
    Time Drive-up rate
    0 to 30 min $9.70
    30 to 60 min $19.40
    1 to 2 hrs $27.50
    2 to 3 hrs $37.00
    3 to 24 hrs $62.00

I have used this deal last time, it seems their systems at the exit gate does not really check the logic correctly, so you may get overcharged. Just contact them through email for refund if it happens..

  •

This deal should be one of a few that should be emailed to new users when they sign up

Over up in NT there was huge public uproar when the council bumped the daily parking rate from $7 to $7.50 !!

  •

Why do people actually need to do this? Usually if I'm picking someone up from the airport I'll just park at the nearest petrol station and then when I get the SMS I'll go to the pick up zone

    •

For a "proper" meet and greet lol. I think that was what I saw on their ads.

    •

There is a free 20 minute wait zone for this, and they have no issues if you leave and come back so you don’t need to pay

  •

Not sure what I did wrong.

Booked for 10-10:30am this morning for $7.

    Entered carpark at 10;03.
    Left car park at 11:10.

Was charged $22 at exit gate.

Only thing I can think of is I inserted my cc on entry and tapped my card at exit gate.

There was a staff member standing there and I told him that I shouldn't have been charged due to the 1 hour grace period on exit. He laughed and said no such thing, it's a strict timing period and that I should have exited by 10;30 if that's what I booked.
