  • perfect sweet spot speed for ryzen 3XXX

    • So my plan to slap some 2666 in a R5 3600 build is a bad idea? - I may have to rethink my build.

      • From some benchmarks i've seen, 3600mhz ram can yield up to 30% more FPS in some games vs 2400mhz.

        • Now I've got to talk myself into spending another $100 :P - My "mid range" build is slowing leaving that category!

        • Do you have any links? Otherwise I’d highly doubt that identical systems with different ram speeds would offer that much FPS difference

  • No deals on B-Die?

Yeah it looks like a good deal, plus it has no RGB's!

Just that not many people like to buy from newegg here.

        • Shipping often takes too long, not to mention the effort of having to RMA anything faulty back to the US. Not always worth the $$ saved.

          • @HowMuch4Cash: Isn't that the advantage of G.Skill? Other OzBargainers in previous deals have mentioned dealing directly with G.Skill is easy.

For those planning to get these for Ryzen, please check your motherboard's memory QVL. Because:

    • If this is going to be the only set memory modules in your AMD motherboard, then you have a much better chance to reach the advertised speed. If this is going to be your second set (i.e. you are putting 4 modules in total), you will most likely need to drop your memory speed. It's could go down to DDR4-3200 if have a X570 board, and DDR4-3000 if you have a B450 board. Your CPU family also matters.
    • Even if you go for B-die, certain B450 motherboards, don't rate/support GSkill memory modules with Samsung B-die well. I haven't checked X570 to see if the situation has improved. Again, this is referring to populating your motherboard with 4 RAM modules.

If you have B450 board and you thought you get 2x16 modules to tackle the 2 modules issue, you could be disappointed, as the 16GB modules are double sided RAM and basically the board will only operate at DDR4-300 (with the exception of B-die and a small number of other Samsung and 1 special batch of Micron, but if you have a B-die one, you don't need to worry about 2 vs 4 modules at DDR4-3200).

    • Dame right

    • What would be better with 2nd gen running these 2x16 a b450 or x470

      • +1

Depends on the exact mobo you're getting.

But on 2nd gen, don't expect to get it running stable at 3600MHz. I'd recommend you drop down the frequency to 3333-3466 and get the timings down which will get you better performance than XMP.

    • Does it happen with 3rd gen? I got a msi b450i + 3700x + 3600mhz 32gb. I will text it when have them in my hands and I post here

    Guys, 3600 CL19 isn't the sweet spot.

    • What is?

      • +1

3600Mhz (so infinity fabric runs at 1800Mhz, close to it's max). Then you want latency as small as you can get it. CL16 is good. CL14 is great, but very expensive.

Also, odd latencies (eg 19) run at even values by default. So CL19 would run at CL20 without tweaking BIOS options.
