Beat me to it. This a great deal.

    • It really is hey, almost half the price of the 3900X. Though boards for it are just as pricey, also the TR4 coolers.

Still, I'd buy it (if I needed it :p )

  • +1

if you need the cores and threads, better value than a 3900x

    • +1

Also supports up to 128GB RAM.

        • ha ha.

love my macs, they are made for people like you

  • +1

    That's insane value.

  • +3

Motherboard cost kills the deal a bit compared to a 3900X, but still has solid use cases if you have need for quad-channel memory or more PCIe lanes.

  • Hmm is that US price?

I thought this was a steal of a deal a few weeks ago.

    • +1

      Nope, that's AU price.

    • $250 in the US. The bottom of the market for these has fallen out completely with the introduction of Zen 2.

      • Crazy stuff. That 180 TDP though.

        • +3

180w is max load, daily usage will be nowhere near that wattage

  • It's a good deal by itself, but once you factor in the much higher motherboard and cooler costs, you're probably at around pairty with the 3900X. Good option if you want to upgrade to 3rd generation TR when that drops.

  • Deal gone …i was 3 mins late

    • In stock on July 17, 2019.
      Order it now.

  • +1

Am I missing something? When I go to the deal, the price goes up to $611AUD.

    • Yep you are right. The price changed.

  • was in cart and boom

  • the cpu is cheap until you see the minimum $400 moboards

3900x is 20% faster in most multicore benches and will cost about $1000 with an x570 and cheaper with x470

    2920x is $800 for cpu + x399.

if the x399 boards were cheaper around $200 then would be a bargain

  • As a non-gamer, can someone explain to me what these do?

    • +2

They thread n ripp everything together apart

    • crazy.computing.stuff.

In all seriousness this would make a perfect build for machine learning / deep learning

    • This isn't a 'gaming' CPU; it's better suited for workstation tasks like CAD, 3D rendering, video editing, data analysis, scientific simulations etc.

You can use it for gaming sure, but there's better choices available that can be paired with much cheaper motherboards and coolers.

    • It's an advanced sewing machine.

  • I wanted this!
