This is ok if you plan to keep it as an ongoing card, but if you're a churner then you wouldn't want this card to restart your 18 months exclusion period.

    • Agreed, I'm generally a churner, so no go for me. But for a daily card, this is great. One of the highest earn rates on a zero fee card.

  • You must not have held an AmEx card within the last 18 months to be eligible for the 10000 bonus points.

When did CBA last remove there cards Nov 2018..

The 18 month period usually refers to amex branded and issued products. The old bank products don't usually count. The westpac amex might not also count to this exclusion period. Secondary card holders are also usually not counted too.

      • Apparently DJs Amex doesn't count too

  • Hey OzBargainers,

Quick note: This is an ideal offer for new Velocity Points collectors and rewards credit card rookies. There is a $0 ongoing annual fee, meaning that it doesn’t come packed with lounge passes or travel insurance. However, it does offer purchase and refund protection, uncapped points earning potential and up to 55 interest-free days on purchases.

    Some more on eligibility:

    • Must be over 18 years of age
    • Must have an annual income of at least $40,000
    • To receive bonus points, you cannot hold or have held an American Express card in the previous 18 months
    • No history of bad debt or payment default
    • Australian citizen, permanent resident or holder of a current Business Long Stay Visa (457)
    • Balance transfer must be requested at the time of application, balances cannot be transferred from other American Express cards and you cannot hold or have held an American Express card in the previous 60 days
  • Is this card eligible for american express offers that keep coming up every now and then?

    • +1

Yes, if there's a manual link and it's not a targeted offer

      • So sorry, can I ask what the difference is?

        • +2

Targeted offer means even if you happen to find a manual link to sign up for it, you won’t be eligible for the offer …

If you still need an explanation after that, then I can’t help you.

          • @kerfuffle: Ah targeted to a particular person. I was thinking maybe offers are targeted to a particular AMEX Card type ie only for ANZ Amex or Qantas Amex etc.
