    *"Discounts of normal ticketed prices".
    This means that there are no real savings. No deal.

  • +3

    Exclude apple, sony vaio,and current catalogue items. so what are left????? all the junks with NORMAL PRICE???? i hate dishonest seller with hidden/ SMALL fonts terms and conditions…

    • Just maybe… that dual-core (Atom n550) ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM that was recently offered for $249

      I'd buy one at 30% off THAT price… ;-)

      • NOPE… no 30% discount there…

        • Would be good if someone could confirm…they did have 20% off recently

    Canon MG8150 multi-funtion for $245.70 after discount is a great deal. Can also pricematch at Officeworks.

    • Hi mate
      I tried to get the canon printer at this price. HN Gepps cross SA would not budge.The Sales parson said 35% off is from the ticketed price of 449 dollars…and therefore 292 dollars.The website lists it at 378 though and I assume you arrived at this price based on that . So do you think any HN would be willing to sell it at 245.70? Please let me know ….Thanks again….

  • yeah i guess catalogue items means it's on paper and they have to honor it..
    not on catalogue makes it easier to change prices on the fly if it's going to come close to cost =D

  • possibly all these tablets are 30% off then? they're not in exclusions or catalogue.

    • It definitely wouldn't be,it would make the asus transformer $420.

  • 30% off tablets?? then the My Tab @ $70 would be damn good purchase

  • well, if optus mytab is $70 then it's a bargain, I'll grab 1 too for my dad to play with ;o)

    • Let us know if any luck getting it, I would like to grab 1 too.

        There are no MyTabs left at:
        BigW
        Dick Smith
        Harvey Norman
        Optus shop or online
        NATIONWIDE!!!

        eBay, gumtree and the tradingpost are your only options.

        Don't waste your time calling - I already did!

        One lass told me that Optus were looking to upgrade the model.

        • There are a lot left @ Optus, Dick smiths has stock today, plenty around for those that can look or know .

          Just because they wont sell it to you or showing no stock doesnt mean you cant get it.

          Dont get caught up by the hype………………

  • Doubt it's tablets this time as it specifically says desktops and laptops.

    TV ad said "Up to 30% off computers"

    You can bet Gordon NSW have marked the prices up and will offer less than 30%

      name and shame brother :)

    • Thanks, that saves me wasting time after Saturday soccer morning, and dragging the whole family to the centre.

  • If some one sees a good valued 11-12" laptop, let me know.

      Don't hold your breath. I called asking about an 11-12 inch and they said that have a number of models but they were classed as netbooks and didn't carry the 30% of laptop discount. I explained that generally netbooks had windows starter and 1Gb of RAM and an 11.6 screen with windows premium and 2gb is usually classed as an ultra-portable laptop. He said he couldn't change how they appeared in the system and gave me the recommended retail. As is usually the case with a HN sale, they discount all the items I don't want. The model they suggested was the HP DM1-3010 ($689) There were a number of 13.3' screens with the 30% off but they were all around $1000 after the discount. If I wanted a 13.3' I'd be looking at the dell Inspiron 13z which is $749 (after the EOFY $350 off).

      • I got a different story from you.
        They have a special table with all the netbooks (all of them are 10") and I can easily tell what can get 30% and what cannot.

  • +1

    not from the catalogue price, 30% discount from the original price,called HN

  • I will not deal wih HN anymore.asked them to hold a laptop but that donkey salesperson sold mine and tried to sell others.i am so sick of HN.

    • I asked them to hold a laptop on sale and I was told that they cannot hold sales items.

    I saw Acer Iconia 16GB (marked price $79) at Harvey Norman.
    I asked if they qualify for 30% special. (PS. $579 - 30% = $405.3)
    The sales said NO but he said he can ask his boss.
    After talking to his boss.
    Hardly Normal sales : "It does not qualify for 30% off, but I can offer you for $430"
    I: "I will think about it and come back tomorrow".
    Hardly Normal sales: "What price are you thinking to buy at?"
    I: "$400"
    Hardly Normal sales: "$400 is more than 30% off, and it is below our cost"
    I: "Ok, is $410 ok?"
    Hardly Normal sales: "$410 is below our buy price, I can give you $425"
    I: "Come on, you can do better than that"
    Hardly Normal sales: "Ok, if you buy it now. I will make it $420"
    I: "Deal!"

    Hardly Normal 30% rule

    Q1. Is it in catelogue?
    Yes -> NO 30% off, you will get it at catelogue price
    No -> goto Q2

    Q2. Is it Apple or Sony?
    Yes -> NO 30% off
    No -> goto Q3

    Q3. Is it tablet or netbook?
    Yes -> NO 30% off
    No -> YES!! you can get 30% off

    PS. for tablets, you might be able to ask their boss for special consideration (eg. I got Acer Iconia for $420, RRP $579, that's 27% off)

      You mind posting that receipt? Or pming it to me?

      • Yeah, I would also appreciate a receipt of this

        • Do you mean the receipt for the Acer Iconia A500 16GB?

        • Thanks for the receipt tg. I tried taking it to officeworks today, but they wouldn't match it. I might try a HN tomorrow, but it seems unlikely…
