Been wanting one of these for ages!
Reminds me of getting home from fishing with my grandfather and brother

Going to call my mate at good guys tomorrow and see if I can get it sent over to his store.

I've bought the sandwich maker few months back with store credits (it was an offer at the time too).it takes too long to produce nice and crunchy ones(similar to the ones in the photos).I replaced the brevilled one and i would say brevilled one produce nice and cruchy ones in about half the time.very light compared to the breville one we had might be a good thing for some people.Would i buy it again?absolutely no

      • +1

Thanks, for that. Have the same issue with the cheap Kmart ones. Looking something that actually toasts properly. Will have to wait for a breville sale I guess.

      • +1

I dont mind the time so much but can you let us knoe if it cuts the sandwich in half properly? Thats the worst dealbreaker IMO

        • +1

Once it is toasted well,It is not too bad.you can separate the pieces easily.it doesn't cut all the way thru.I'd try some toasts tomorrow morning to confirm :-)

  • bought one

  • Why can't both be available on eBay? :(

Just bought the sandwich maker for $13. Sunday breakfast is sorted.

I still have an old Beville kicking on for the last decade, I love a good jaffle

    • Cant beat a breville. Some people used to just call it a Breville it was that synonymous

  • +5

I can feel the roof of my mouth blistering as we speak. Great price.

  • Got a sandwich maker from Bankstown store, too bad the sandwich press is out of order

  • +2

Similar sandwich press is $29 at kmart but has flat surface. I prefer them because they don't squeeze the food as much

    • Yep. Cant put an egg in the cut in half ones.

  • Been wanting a haggle baker for a while now.
    Bought one

  • You can't compare these to a flat sandwich maker total different class. Yum Yum

    • Both are good - I like the sandwich press when I want a nice seal on the sandwich though. Nothing worse than leaked cheese!

  • Just remembered I have a $10 Spotlight birthday voucher – might try and see if they have one of these still in store

  • +1

Just so you guys know, these dividing ones suck when you want to cram things like bakebeans etc in. Just makes a mess

    • and that too

    • +3

But really shine when it comes to more crunchy melted cheese end bits

  • Can this accommodate the Helgas bread ?

    Edit: the Kmart one cannot!

    • +1

too small..these are produced for woollies 90c loaves :-)anything thicker you'd have to stand up on it to close

      • Thickness is not a prob I suppose. The mail problem is to fit the huge size of one bread. The woolies home brand fits the Kmart one in terms of size as well as thickness

        • I thought the general consensus was that size and thickness wasn't that important?

          • @gizmomelb: Trust me if you are going to use a big size bread like Helgas then the cheese is going to get stuck in parts which you cannot clean. I ended throwing mine away after I wanted a double cheese sandwich but half the cheese poured out making it impossible to clean.

  • Don't forget us sweet tooths. Butter and honey jaffle!

  • +1

Time for all the Jaffle recipes!

    • whats good in them

      • I still prefer the traditional egg jaffles or cheese and tomatoes. However, the last thread inspired me to try out with leftover carbonara which was amazing. So now I’ve been trying all kinds. Chicken and avocado with cheese. Steak and cheese. Mac and cheese. You name it.

        • yeah I also like an egg jaffle - spread vegemite on the inside lid, crack an egg into the bottom bit of bread - a little salt and pepper and a dash of tobasco or worchestershire sauce to taste. marvellous.

          • @gizmomelb: You lost me at vegemite 😂. I’m not originally from Australia and that’s the one flavour I can’t get used to.

  • Op Shops are full of these kinda things. At least look for one there before buying another new product

  • This would be great if I can make my fave chicken mayo sandwich. But I'm too lazy to make the chicken mayo lol

  • Bought 1, cheers OP.

  • the problem with these dogshit sandwich makers is no bread is small enough to fit in them so they end up being useless. Bought a few in the past and just chucked em out cos they're pathetic.
