Awesome price for an awesome watch

its too heavy for running. i would get a forerunner instead.

    • +4

You'll get used to it :)

    • They make the smaller 5s for female runners. Maybe try that one?

Or men with dainty wrists like myself.

Currently using the Forerunner 630 which is a 45mm face which is perfect for my wrist.

The Fenix 5 Plus is 47mm.. Might be ok I suppose.

Thats why its not a running watch?

    • I have the fenix 3 sapphire with steel band. I initially thought the same thing when going from an old forerunner but as freakthe said you get used to it very quickly.

      • Band makes a difference. I have a fenix 3, and swap to silicon band for runs. Quick bands on fenix 5 likely make the swaps less annoying.

You've been downvoted, but I agree. Better to get a 935/945.

  • Great price, lucky there aren't any close by as I don't really need to upgrade from my Vivoactive 3.

    • Great watch, the keeper broke on mine unfortunately… luckily available for warranty at 364 days :)

  • Loving mine since purchasing from the previous deal!

I had Fitbits (Blaze, then Ionic) prior to getting the 5s Plus.. Absolutely no comparison. If you want a reliable, feature rich, classy fitness watch, this is the one.

  • Don't forget if any of you are travelling overseas, you'll be able to use the Tourist Refund Scheme to claim back the GST you paid!

  • Wish the 5S Plus in black was the same price as the rose gold.

  • It appears the 5S is pick up only.

Both are (C&C Only) as stated in the title mate!

      • Woops

  • There is no sapphire version in Fenix 5, between what benefits does sapphire actually have over the regular 5?

    • +3

Scratch proof glass. I've had worn a Fenix 5 Sapphire as a tradesman for 2 years. Not a single mark on the screen.

    • +1

I've owned mine now over 2 months and I'm still discovering new features! A Fantastic watch although I'm glad I paid extra for the Sapphire lens.

    • Just get a glass screen protector from ebay, cheaper and protect the plastic screen from scratches..

  • Whats the deal with the discounted gift cards?

Great deal! But garmin pay not supporting AMEX..

    • I find Garmin pay difficult. Requests a PIN nearly every time you use it, and its a pain to enter said PIN. Not many banks supported and it's unclear whether there will be more so make sure you check first.

Good for an emergency if you have the right bank but not everyday transactions.

      • I have mine set up so it only asks for the pin if I have taken off the watch since last putting the pin in. Haven't had an issue with it - apart from only having one eligible card to link to it (my 28 degrees card), but I think fitbit compatible banks is also the same.

        • I got fitbit ionic, not too bad. But with this offer from garmin, I am very tempting to get it.

      • Doubt that it will include Amex, probably will adding more on other banks. So far I know apple watch and samsung watch support Amex.

I bought one last year and it has made me run.

    • Doesn't sound like a good watch if you're always running late.

      • -1

I even get the runs sometimes while running!

Keep in mind the fenix 6 is coming out in early 2020. It will be based on the tech in the forerunner 945, upgraded sensors and super battery life. I got the 945 myself through the BUPA 20% off deal.

I got mine through HBF 80% rebate :)

      • The HBF rebate that was withdrawn (and poorly communicated) on the 1st of January…

        • Yes it was. That rebate was the only major benefit of having HBF as cover.

          • @mandelbrot: Agreed, I paid a small fortune for the "health monitoring devices" cover and claimed it all back plus some on Garmin's for the family. I'm sure HBF didn't care, but I protested against the changes by taking my premiums elsewhere….

            • @Rowen: Lol. I only have ambulance cover through BUPA so I can't complain too much! $80 for a year's cover, and a 20% off the Garmin.

Looks like this (Fenix 5 Plus) is selling out. Nearest stock to Sydney is now Bathurst NSW (200km).

    • Race you! It's the closest to WA too.

      • I have prepared for this moment by spending 3 years at uni in Bathurst, then scouting your potential route via the Indian Pacific. But my Bathurst experience also taught me there's probably no actual stock there.

  • +2

please be aware of the small battery on the 5s.

If you can't find stock at JB, Rebel also has them on sale (slightly higher price, but will price match).

  • Any deals on the forerunner 645? I’m looking at the 20% off via BUPA deal currently ..

    • Yup BUPA is a good deal. I skipped the 645 as it was last year's technology. They've made significant advances on the 945.

      • 945 is $300+ more than the 645 though.

        • Agreed. I was coming from a Galaxy Watch. Samsung is going to release the Watch Active 2 early Aug though. Been using the 945 and it's spotify music is excellent. Galaxy watch would always just hang with spotify. I would seriously consider 945 as in 2020, the Fenix 6 will most probably use most of the tech from the 945, but Fenix will undoubtedly be more expensive.

          • @NotAnAudiophile: Picked up the Fenix and been for a couple of runs and played golf.. it's an amazing device.

Loaded Spotify - though don't really like listening to music whilst running.. some of the info provided over and above the Vivo HR I had previously is profound!(HR, Stress, training metrics etc.)

Due to the larger, colour screen, golf is great too.

Very happy at half price - thanks OP!

            • @Yimmy: Glad you're Happy with yours. Music without a phone is important for me - I use it when cycling using bone conduction headphones. The garmin watches make the apple and samsung watches look like toys when it comes to fitness tracking.

  • JB out of stock

  • Bought the Fenix from Rebel in Perth City - price matched to JB Hi Fi. Had 3 left after mine.
