  • Is it worth getting this over the v30+ for $399?

    • +9

If you can afford it. Your gonna get a latter version of android (which is going to get a guarantee update to Android Q). Plus, you are getting a better camera, screen, features and performance.

    • +1

Full disclosure:I have owned a v30+ for the last year and a half.

It really depends on how you use your phone on a daily basis. Do you use it relatively lightly ie reply to messages, check email, YouTube, browsing? Do you share phone pics with friends and family only where they too view over the phone?

If so, likely a v30+ is more than enough. You don't need the latest and greatest to accomplish the above with good performance.

However if you do love having the latest gear, by all means.

    • +4

The latest and greatest is just marketing hype. People just want the newest thing when in reality a $300 phone will do the job. The kind of power these phones pump out now is probably useless to 95% of the population.

    • +1

I guess if you find yourself taking 300 photos of your kids a week or playing a lot of 3d games it's probably worth it for the better camera but otherwise V30+ is gonna be more than enough performance for your dollar

    • It's 399kimchi VS 983Kimchi

  • Can't believe that this is cheaper than the Galaxy s10e. I've been eyeing out the s10e for a few days now. However, I'm not paying anything over $800 for a AU stock variant.

    • +7

I grabbed one on prime day for $728. Quite happy with it.

      • +1

Did you pay $728 for S10 or S10e?

        • Sorry, the S10e, was actually about to buy a Pixel 3a when the price dropped.

          • +2

@MackemAB: Still thats the best price ive ever seen i reckon.
            good job!

          • @MackemAB: How is the battery life with the latest software update? Did you get Good SOT for a whole day of use? Not sure myself if I should import snap dragon version that's all.

            • +2

@wiltonson: Very much depends on your usage, normal browsing and such, messaging, then yeah no worries. I've been playing some games on top of that, so 4-5 hours of screen time in a day (I know).

I came from an s6 where I was charging 2-3 times a day. So anything was better.

              • @MackemAB: What about idle drain? That's got my goat with Samsungs over the years (my current A5 2017 is an exception - only lose a few percent overnight).

                • @Jabba the Hutt: Again depending on settings I haven't really noticed it sliding much at all. I'm getting 24 hours charge to charge with some relatively heavy usage.

      • I know I kicked myself for not getting one on that day. Beside had I known that I would be getting a replacement phone during my current RMA, I would have jumped on it instantly.

The S10+ is ~840 if you have access to EPP.

    • Would you happen to know the price for S10 128GB through EPP?

      • It's $876 on the gov site for EPP

    • -1

is there any way for purchase this through EPP when you don't have access for it?

  • -3

Don't forget 10% extra off using Cashback. It will actually cost $884.70, pretty good price.

    • +3

nah only 4.5% through shopback/3.5 cashrewards for phones sadly :(

      • $939 all up?

  • +2

    Worth price matching at OW?

Is "Made for Australia" the same as "Australian stock"?

    No mention of warranty?

    • +1

      Lol what

    • +1

Unless a phone cannot be used in Australia, it is "made for Australia".

  • -3

I Hope whoever buys the s10 has better luck than me. I bought mine on the eBay plus sales and the battery wouldn't last even a day for me. So I returned it.

Will be buying a one plus 7 instead.

  • +2

Used to be 899 on Amazon and 849 on eBay last month.

    • +1

That's cheap. I don't remember seeing that deal. The EPP was 947.

  • +3

    • I wish there was a S10e dual SIM Australian version - grey seems to be the only option :(
