    Imagine a 5% sitewide … hmmmm …

    • +1

Does that even exist anymore? :'(

EBay now playing hide and seek with discounts. If they wanted us to spend on their site they would just have the discount apply to everything. And every time you apply a code to an item eBay is monitoring it according to the support people.

    • Pavlov's dogs, or in other words treating their customers with contempt, but getting plenty of site hits no doubt. If my patience wears thin, by the time they make a decent offer I'll have bought what I want elsewhere.

    Thanks TA.

  • I just checked a few items on my eBay watch list, and guess what BIGGIE10 does?

    Ahh, see: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/474246

This look like a targeted only, i get "Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again."

    • +2

Not targeted. Please note that as per the title and T&Cs, it's for eligible items only (not sitewide).

      • +1

Definitely targeted as the items in the page works with my partner account and doesn't work on my account.

        • Are you sure your acct isn't one you used to change addresses for the overseas promos? Anyway, leave it with you. Best jump on a chat with eBay as there could be an issue with your acct.

          • @tightarse: I never changed my address for oversea promo, but good idea to chat with ebay and find out whats going on.

          • @tightarse: Also interestingly enough my partner account gets the Biggie10 on item advertised in biggie5 page. So go figure…

        • The same happened to me, I'm a Plus member and I can't see the Biggie 10 deal that headlines his screen, and he can apply it, but it doesn't work for me?!
Customer service supposedly 'didn't know why', either, because I rang to tell them I was unimpressed, lol.

This "Eligible Items" stuff is a nonsense.

  • +4

It's targeted and very limited. So 9jce again for the majority of these limited store posts: No deal..

    • It's also targeted as to who can see or redeem the deals, too, and that's pretty sucky…!

  • Beginning August 1, this will change as eBay will no longer have 5% or 10 % sitewide promotions

    • +1

Nice if they did that the Monster ( Amazon ) would cause them to have no biz :)

      Hence I think that's BS .

    • This is correct. We also now have to fund part of the 5% off discount, whereas before eBay funded the full amount.

      • Promotions team adjusted the start date from 1st August to 8th August 2019 for this promotion

        • correct. Didn't see that updated start date.

  • The price is right.
Ops I mean Up, Up , and Up,,,,

I notice since the start of this financial year, the "Eligible Items" seem much more limited compare to previous FY 10-15% off codes. It is much harder to find items that I can buy. Previous discounts, it was basically Aust sellers with good ratings, both stores and private sellers. Now it it just some Aust stores with high volume sales, and you have to dig hard to find "eligible items". I cannot find private sellers eligible for these discounts. Even Sunday free list/final fee offers are gone (except for the odd offers for no-activity accounts), so private sellers have less incentive to list or list at prices to cover some selling fees. Seems EBay is steering the buyers to stores and new items now. Too hard and too much time looking for bargains on EBay nowadays…

  • LG B8 65". Been cheaper but these days less likely.
