      • I guess so, AmEx won't pay you to buy other company's products

      • +1

More than likely it's from Amex's. It sounds to me that they only check to make sure that there's a sale, unlike Shopback which does vwait for 3 month to make sure that there's no reversal or refund on the transaction.

    • I suspect AMEX would reverse the cashback, let's hope they don't.

    • +3

They will reverse it a bit later.
Similar thing happened to me previously.

      • +1

Yeap. AMEX is pretty good with cashback credit and debit. They paid me within 3 days and reversed within 2 days.

    I just got my refund

    I got my refund.

  • Just received this email from the ACCC

    Dear Mr <my name>,

Thank you for writing to us about Hewlett Packard Australia. We have recorded the details of your report. We can offer you information about your consumer rights and how to resolve a dispute with a business.
How to resolve a dispute with a business
You should contact the seller to explain the problem and the outcome you want. If you are unable to resolve your issue by speaking with them, put your complaint in writing – that way the seller is clearly aware of the problem and what you want, and you have a record of your contact. You can use our complaint email template to get started.

If this does not resolve your dispute with the seller, you can contact Access Canberra. As your local consumer protection agency, Access Canberra can help consumers resolve some disputes. Find out more about how to make a complaint to Access Canberra on its website.

If Access Canberra can’t help, you may need to take your complaint to your state or territory small claims tribunal.

    Your rights: non-delivery
If you pay a business for a product or service, that business must supply you when it said it would. It is illegal for a business to accept payment for products or services they do not intend to supply. If you did not agree when the business would supply you, the business must supply you in a reasonable time. A business must also supply you with the product or service that you agreed to buy, not something different.

Businesses should take reasonable steps to avoid problems with supply. But it might not be possible for a business to supply you for reasons outside of its control. If a business cannot supply you as agreed, it can fix the problem by offering replacement products or services if you agree to them. You are entitled to a refund if the business does not supply you.
    We have recorded your report
We appreciate you reporting your matter to us. All information is potentially valuable to help us identify trends and where we can most effectively direct our resources, so we encourage you to report any behaviour or business practice that is concerning to you.

What the ACCC does with information from reports
The ACCC focuses on enforcing the laws we administer in circumstances that have the potential to harm the competitive process or result in widespread consumer or business detriment. We use reports received from the public and small business, as well as other sources of intelligence, to inform our work. When the ACCC takes action, it is to remedy market problems; we are not a complaint handling body and don’t resolve individual disputes. You can read more about how we prioritise our work and what we can and can't do for consumers on our website.

We hope the information we have provided today will be helpful to you.

    Yours sincerely

    Jessica

That's the template email they send all the time

Got it when I reported Kogan in Feb after the "price error"

    • Key part:

      • I took the case to NSW Fair Trading (which is similar to Access Canberra) and they tried to help solve the dispute but Kogan said "no way" so yeah this is what will happen with too probs

        • Is it just me or has the entire OMEN range disappeared from HP's website? Seems like they've decided to hide evidence of their price-jacking.

nah, the key part is the one you missed:
Businesses should take reasonable steps to avoid problems with supply. But it might not be possible for a business to supply you for reasons outside of its control. If a business cannot supply you as agreed, it can fix the problem by offering replacement products or services if you agree to them. You are entitled to a refund if the business does not supply you

honestly don't know why people are wasting their time with the ACCC and whatnot, just because you grew up thinking your entitled to anything and everything, doesn't mean the law will change just to suit you.

I always get downvoted and hated on big time for saying it everytime. Even when I supply proof that the ACCC do not investigate individual complaints and recommend speaking to your state's fair trade.

Unfortunately these are the same people that destroy this community by demanding compensation for every little mistake or abuse freebies they don't need and won't give up until they get their way. In most cases it's also the only contribution they ever make to the site.
