    • Kogan didn't give me anything from last Huawei mate 20 pro sale.

Only $10 voucher if purchase over $30 and expire in 3 days. What a scam.

Amazon on the other hand, is truly gold standard.

      • Amazon on the other hand, is truly gold standard.

but oh no, worker exploitation, no pee breaks, the world is so cruel!

        • +1

The workers know and accepted the conditions for the money.

  • +1

Just spoke to HP, 'We are really sorry, but we have a pricing error with this product (7DG17PA)
all the orders received with pricing error are being canceled now. you will receive a notification of cancellation and refund soon

Once the pricing error is fixed, you will be able to re-order this product again at corrected price.
Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience.'

    • +11

Plot twist, the corrected price is $498

      • +2

I love your sense of humour haha 😂

  • It was good fun though, I had ordered 1 as well. :)

  • +1

Lol, fantastic marketing move, just fantastic, bravo HP, bravo 👏👏👏

You will be informed to re-order… Ummm yeah, that price isn't a deal lol.

    • Actually that is true, haha, free marketing and so much interest generated for their website and product. Companies are getting smarter.

      • +2

Not really a smart marketing move when it sours people from your brand..
Plenty of people who honestly thought they'd get the laptop won't be recommending HP laptops.

        • I agree with that but I guess, bad publicity is still publicity. I hope we can get a true sweet deal like that in future :)

          • +1

@Mrnobdy: Yup, absolutely any kind of publicity, mentioning, is successful marketing, just mention us. Who will ever go and say "hey i dont like HP, I won't buy their products because they didn't honour a sale before, don't buy that from them" you'll buy it, if you want it, need it, you'll buy it,they know it.

This is equally as stupid as little/struggling businesses do with excuses how their website had "technical issues" during a sale (sale no one knows about) and now when the "issue" has been resolved as an apology here's a discount code for this, that…

            Umm yeah, no.

        • The people who won't recommend HP are the ones not intending to buy a HP at the correct price - ie scalpers. No big loss to the business, and can be safely ignored.

  • Was just good to be involved…
No chance of a re-order from me though

  • Here's the correct savings: (1660 Ti)
    https://h20386.www2.hp.com/AustraliaStore/Merch/Product.aspx…

    Supposed to be $300 off

Here is the cheapest version of the OMEN: (1060 Ti)
    https://h20386.www2.hp.com/AustraliaStore/Merch/Product.aspx…

    • That's an i7 with double the amount of ram, not the same machine.

    • So it now has a higher starting price?

  • +2

well, saved 499 dollars, wasn't a good laptop anyways :P

    • You're kidding yourself if you don't think those specs for $500 is anything but a bargain

      • +10

I wasn't being serious. Just trying to have a funny spin on it.. don't want to sit and sulk.

        • I am better off on one side of the fence knowing I didn't order in the first place than sitting on the fence desperately waiting for a chance that an order would go through. No one's paying me for mental distress.

  • I wonder what would happen if everyone here took HP Australia to the small claims court

(not a suggestion, just an interesting thought)

    • +3

Waste of time. T&C allows HP to cancel orders. Also you can't fight with HP just because of genuine pricing error, they will hire best lawyers and you will end up in debt.

    • -4

Is it against the law to do it, is this fascism so you can't speak your mind? You'll be jailed or something? Of course we can sue them as they have breached their own policy in the agreement that you've agreed on when giving the permission to process the payment.

      • Lol. @qaz182 wasn't suggesting to write an article about it. He/she suggested to sue HP. Which would cost money. And people's time (court, lawyers, magistrate/s). It's not fascism for @d86 to point out that it would be a waste of time and cost a shit load for the plaintiff. And they would lose, because their terms (that you have agreed to) indicate that HP can actually cancel orders. Bahhh

      • +2

advertisements generally are invitation to treat, not an offer. No contract has been formed.

    • +2

everyone here took HP Australia to the small claims court

I'd encourage them to, so we can laugh at them when they fail hehe

    • Class action!
406 votes on OzB means 406 plaintiffs

  • I now plan to buy a omen because I want one

    • Haha I got the 17inch GeForce 1070 one

Pretty damn good but a little heavy

      • a little? Goddam thing is a brick, not to mention the power supply brick (also weighs like a brick)
Every time I'm at the airport I get screened thanks to the massive backpack/carry-on luggage required to transport this

    • +1

I now plan to buy a HP voodoo doll to burn

      • LOL

  • +3

    Chat rep told me this

It's a price error as well. We only have 2 stocks for that model yesterday and got sold out right away.

what a bunch of bs i say

    • Just want my money back now :P

  • I missed it this time but I remember a manager at hp called me once

They had a price error and $1000 off and they still gave it to me and said they are losing money or cost price or something

I was happy but yeah it was a small amount of people back then. Like 5-10 years ago

    • +6

Jeez they'd have to sell about 6 ink cartridges to make up that amount.

  • +4

Sounds like this really was a bad omen after all lol

  • +7

Just spoke to HP support via chat, they're out of stock for the Omen but there's plenty of popcorn available at their offices.

They're located on the corner of the Boulevard of Broken Dreams and No F***ing Way.

    • +6

They're located on the corner of the Boulevard of Broken Dreams and No F***ing Way.

Are you sure? I spend a lot of time there and have never seen HP.

    • So they're still across the road from The Burvale then?

  • Was good fun…now the refunds

  • +3

Everyone should thank ozb you got 2 rounds of excitements for free, one when successfuly made order and then now waiting for refunds

  • Wonder what happens to with everyone who bought with cashback and that amex thing.

Do they get refund plus the cashback?

    • +2

No, AMEX Cash back will be reversed

Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled.

  • +3

Weirdest OzBargain comment thread I've come across.

    • +3

Not as bad as the "20 pack of SD cards from Amazon" kerfuffle at the end of last year, where practically every person was claiming a different outcome.

    • +1

You must have missed the "Free Start Adani Shirt" deal

    • MVP GOES TO D-BOSS

    • It happened to 4chan, it happened to Reddit, it's inevitable for all growing communities

      • +1

What shall we call this one, then?
        The Lap(top)enning?

        • i was vague in my original comment but i mean that as any community grows larger it's inevitable that there are gonna be more cucks and more chances for potential deals to fall through

          • +4

@Bacons: I think most of the members here have realised that ozbargain has outgrown its old charm. Its too big for its own good.
Good stuff that are posted here would be swarmed and out of stock in seconds.

I used to live near Macquarie Uni in Sydney and boy, going to Woolies and Coles were depressing because the students brodened all the good deals from the catalogue.

  • Haven't been on here in quite a while, it looks like the new kids are all amateurs, where were the hard core OZB guys succeeding at getting price matching from BJ, OrificeWorks or Hardley Normal?

    • +3

This particular model does not seem to be available anywhere besides direct from HP.

  • +3

I'm stocking up on Steam games for this baby, also ordered some HP accessories to go with it, can't wait!

    • +18

      Enjoy Refund Simulator 2019 then.

    • +1

      Oh well, nevermind

    • +1

The HP accessories will not be canceled.

  • My order status still says shipping 2/8/19.
They've still got half an hour (assuming an Sydney/Melbourne distribution centre)

    • +11

Yeah mate, I'm about to reach out to Dexter and Edgar to check on the status.

  • +1

Oh well the suspense was kind of fun, but I think it's clear now that no one (except the two first people) is getting their order. Now hurry up and refund me hp so I can stress over another price error and go through this process all over again. Sadly my order hasn't changed at all (still 'not authorized') so it might take me ages to get my money back.

  • +5

Make sure you stock up on the free salt deal that was this thread.

  • -1

My order is still current - I'm a bit concerned that if they are going to cancel all orders, then why haven't they done it already? It's now been a full business day and my credit card has been charged. Very poor form if they turn around over a day later and cancel.

    • Coz it's a Ponzi! That's what the P stands for in HP

      • What's the H stand for?

        • +5

          hentai

        • +6

          High-Grade Ponzi

    • +8

Could be worse. Optus kept my .1c for a week!

  • this is one of the greatest business strategy for free short term loan, HP well done!

    • +2

I would think it costs them money in processing fees to a) accept payment and b) refund payments.

The only winners here are the credit card processors.

  • +18

I dunno about everyone else but I enjoyed every second of this ride especially when I had nothing to lose but everything to gain including minutes of entertainment from everyone writing about spamming HP to the FOMO haters and sassy trolls.

Even if HP doesn't honour, I still take delight knowing a prolonged "mistake" cost hours of customer service time.

    • +4

correct. ozb is about family and entertainment. nothing about saving. actually: family, entertainment and spending more.

      • +1

Fast and Furious 9: Ozbargain Pricing Errors - a story about family

    • +1

The actual deal was for people like me who got hours of entertainment reading comments without getting any money stuck.

  • +1

It’s a bad omen to buy a price error laptop from HP.

    • +5

      Remember- No feeding the trolls.

      • +7

he didnt say tracking number for omen, could be tracking of $2 usb cable from china 2 months ago.

  • my order got cancelled but hp is offering it for $1500. Good deal?

    • +2

Hey bro, you can get a similar spec device from Dell for about $1300 during their 20% off eBay sales. :)

      • +1

As a gesture of goodwill, HP would like to offer you the opportunity to purchase the Omen by HP 15-dc1054tx laptop at the heavily discounted price of $1,499 (inc GST). This offer is available until 5.30pm AEST on 16 August 2019.

thanks hp you are soo generous.

  • +2

This might have been honoured if no one had posted it to OZB… :-D

  • HP to go into Receivership, everyone loses moniesssssss….

  • +7

Show's over guys… They're offering us to purchase at $1499 but no $499 gaming laptop for us… RIP

    • +1

Looks like everyone will get this email shortly.
When did you place your order anyway?

      • +1

4.33PM AEST yesterday, i believe it was only just shortly after this thread was posted?

        • Damn I haven't gotten that email yet and my order's status hasn't changed. Looks like I'll have to wait quite a while for my refund.

          • -2

@Ostrk: Me thinks ok if they just cancel because of a genuine error but…Would this now classify as bait and switch as they are offering the same product back to you at a higher price?

            • @[Deactivated]: btw, is $1499 still okay/cheap/good deal for that spec?

              • +1

@CyberMurning: I would say no because for $300 more than that you can get a laptop with the same gpu, i7-9750h, 16gb ram and a 512gb ssd. That does lack the 144hz but I'm sure you can find one that does have 144hz.
That is not a deal by the way, I just googled 1660ti laptops and found that. It's much possible that there are 10x better deals for laptops out there so if you're looking for a laptop best do your research.

                • @Ostrk: i see. probably because of the omen branding.

                  • @CyberMurning: It also has a 144hz screen which is a huge factor, but I still would recommend doing extensive research before buying anything.

    • -2

      that is philipino guy name

  • +1

I ordered the highest model that was on promotion of the omen range. It is now Officially cancelled.
