      To each their own!
I am enjoying it right now after a long day of work :)

Exactly. Carrian probably heads straight to the ‘craft beer’ section of their local Liquorland to grab a $22 six-pack of ‘James Squire 50 Lashes’

        • Oh i would love me some 150 lashes, it's $15.90 at dan murphy's at the moment but i'll have to resist.

Enjoying now too. But with two eggs. Top start to the day

And the beer snobs are out in force already.
Thanks OP. Great price. I’ll grab a couple.

Lol, didn't know they were still making it. On the beer snob topic - was in Melb recently and got re-acquainted with Carlton Draught on tap. Great drop, better than many craft beers I've consumed, at half the price. Left the very wishy-washy Moondog Lager I had later at a Chin Chin's in the shade in every respect.

Well if you drink a craft lager you are missing out, but I do agree with you (despite being a beer snob) - a fresh keg of Carlton Draught cold off a tap is actually pretty good. It's best quality - it tastes like beer. Our Friday regular after work did $3 pots, so they stayed cold while you slammed them down.

      • Almost exactly what I told my daughter - it tastes like beer (should). I've had plenty of "craft" IPAs etc and while most had decent flavour I wouldn't bypass a CD for any of them - at the price. As far as beer goes my philosophy is drink what you like and ignore the naysayers. Personally I think Heineken is for the desperate but in parts of Europe it's a mainstay for some reason.

I ran a bottleshop for five years and my only wish is that people drink things that they like - and don't just drink it because that's what they drink. Whatever you drink, there are two rules:
          1. Try new things, if you think you're on the best thing ever trying new things will only make you enjoy your favourite more
          2. Don't drink Fosters.

    • You might be talking about the new Carlton Draught 'Tank Beer' which is the unpasteurized version they sell at some places. Different to their regular Carlton Draught.

      • It was whatever was on tap upstairs at Young and Jacksons.

Nothing says Australia like being owned by a foreign country.

Whenever overseas, I’m always asked about Fosters!

    • Lololol really?

      • +1

Yanks always fall for my over exaggerated stories.

  • Nothing beats there 375ml bottle in the mega swill beers.

  • about 30 years ago, fosters brewing which owns carlton at the time used fosters larger to make in roads into overseas market, and in the process stopped promoting it in australia, 40 years ago it was one of australia’s most popular beers.

hence the old films like “the adventures of barry my kenzie” feature fosters extensively, as does film of that era like “ alvin purple”.

This isn't even real Foster's, and it isn't even overseas Foster's - it's a weird version produced exclusively for Woolies bottleshops. Real Foster's is a really malty, hard flavoured lager (Carlton Draught on drugs), while UK Foster's is a more ale-y, creamy version brewed to UK tastes. This… well this is just a beer.

Was gonna post this, it's Fosters 'classic' don't know how a 4% fosters beer earns the classic name.

      • +1

You can still get regular Australian Fosters at some independents, my folks have a bottleshop (Cellarbrations Balnarring, VIC) that stock it but it sells terribly…

        • Haha, yeah I remember from the last post (Peroni red 500ml cans) Fosters disappeared from our ordering for a while, but it's back now. I get asked for it once a year!
