Apple 85W MagSafe Power Adapter (MC556X/B) $49 C&C (Or + Delivery) @ The Good Guys (Was $89)

460

On clearance at The Good Guys. Many stores I checked are showing as limited stock but no C&C. Best to call your nearest store to confirm stock levels.

Description
The 85 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

Just so people don’t get caught…. this is suitable for MacBook Pros from the 2010/12 era. You can use it with 2013 -> 2015 with an adapter. It also works on smaller sizes from those years (13” pro… air) too but is overkill.

    • Wow, I made the same PSA while you were posting :))

    • Thanks, this is what I wanted to know! There are 2x 2010 MBP in my household (one is my husband's and one is mine).

No stock in any stores near me (2 hr driving radius) or near my parents :(

Note this is the older MagSafe, and you’ll need a tiny $10 adaptor if your Macbook has a sleeker MagSafe 2.

Also, this is the bigger brick, 85W, suitable both for 13” and 15”.

Note this does not work with the Toshiba Portege 650CT

I am missing out on something here?

    • My guess it has something to do with the fact they're not Apple laptops. ;-)

      • Or from this millennium!

    How do I miss MagSafe … :-(

  • Hi OP, which stores are still showing as limited stock? I couldnt find any. Thanks.

  • FYI - if needing to replace the PS because the magsafe adapter is dodgy then it's fairly easy to replace just the cable. IIRC I paid $8 for cable. Prying open the case is a bit tough though.

    • How did You open it?

      • Flat heat screwdriver, brute force and a little blood.

  • For anyone who missed out, my order got cancelled. Don't feel too bad.

    • I feel bad…. for you.
Hoping my work MBP breaks so I can get a new one.. but this one has USB-A ports, HDMI, decent keyboard and MagSafe…

Quite surprise that there are still so many interest on MagSafe adaptors
From what I understand Apple replaced all MagSafe adaptors to Usb-C from 2016
So Macbook that supports MagSafe should be at least 4 years old…

You'd be surprised how many people still have older MB's (including myself). Very reliable machines when kept away from water.
