Is this the new model with the upgraded battery life?

    • +6

I can only imagine they will try give you the older model just to get it out of their inventory first. But if you message the seller's store you might have some luck?

    • +3

The box in the picture is the old model box (the new one is basically a full red background). While it's not impossible you might get lucky, best to assume that you won't and that this is all old stock.

  • +3

    red box or nay?

    • +4

This is not the red box you’re looking for.

(This deal is for the old version only)

  • +7

This is the old version. The new version with increased battery life here: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/offer-listing/B07VQR11NH, but at a higher price.

    • +4

I love how it’s listed as “new look packaging”. Like the packaging is the important difference worth highlighting. 😆

Careful team that there is a new version of this out now with upgraded internals…

"@The new hardware revision of the Nintendo Switch is now making its way to retail stores. It features a newer, more efficient CPU than the original launch console, which results in significantly longer battery life ranging between 4.5 and nine hours. (The original Switch can last between 2.5 and 6.5 hours.)"

I've never played my switch until the battery died before. You'd have to be a pretty hardcore gamer/hopeless ozbargainer to get the new version at full price. I think this is an ok deal.

    • +3

I've only taken the thing off the dock three times in the 9 months I've had one…

playing on the couch with the pro controller is the way to go.

edit: having said that, if they want to clear out the old models I feel like $320-$330 wood be fairer considering how they've been discounted before.

      • Especially considering I paid $349 after HN visa cash back deal in 2017. Should really be $299 by now but this is ok.

Mine dies after 2 hours. Sometimes I'll get 2 hours 15 mins if I adjust the brightness. I dunno about you but that's a pretty short gaming session if you really want to get into a game. Also it takes 3 hours to charge which is ages. The new model gets a solid 4 hours at minimum so it's basically double.

    • +1

I plug mine while playing it and can probably get 24 hours straight using in handheld mode.

    Waiting on new model!

    • +1

$469 on Amazon,$449 on jb hifi,$459 with 2 game on Ebgame
Pay $100 for battery life :(
      But,i will wait too :)

New screen too. And “better” joycons apparently.

      • I have no doubt it will be similar pricing to the current model in the near future as has same RRP.

        • Near as in a few months or years?

          • @wtfnodeal: I would think weeks to months. I need one by the end of the year so no rush.

    • new model cant be modded

      • +1

        Some olds can't as well

      • I would hazard a guess. Give it time.

  • +2

I will wait for next year pro version. Happy with my current switch

    • I'll wait till its EOL 🤣😂

  • Fully decent price though. I've sold two used this week for $320 each. Imagine being my customers lol.

    • I sold mine for 450… no games, nothing… 3 weeks ago…

grabbed the new version for $458 two weeks ago

  • To be honest, paying the standard Switch sale price for a now outdated console model isn't that appealing for me. I'd probably hold off because it's pretty likely stores will be trying to clear out the original batches of Switches.

  • How much cashback if I purchase through ShopBack?
I am wondering if this is considered as Games & Toys (8%) or Electronics (4.5%).

  • Would be better to get the one from Catch with Catch membership (or pay the $9.95 shipping) and stack with 20% off Catch Gift Cards ($25 and $50 Cards) @ Coles

I know Cashrewards won't do cashback with gift cards but what about Shopback?
