YES YES YES (and its been covered before)!

  • Okay so my partner saved on her supp card a week ago and i saved it today. We both then made purchases at glue today. She got the vogue email but I didnt. Am I still good to go? Since I dont have time to shop am I correct in understanding that we should just go to a the westfield concierge and ask for the 2 westfield gift cards each?

    • +1

Id log into the app and make sure your offer is saved there. As long as it is then you will be covered

  • Was at the Westfield concierge in Sydney and used Apple Pay 3x (it was 3x $50 gift cards). They ask you for ID in the line but the guy didn’t check mine as I told him it was Apple Pay.

No issues splitting at MYER level 5 and DJs customer service either.

    • Spent half an hour trying to find some at Myer. Finally found some on level 1..

      • There were heaps on level 5 in the corner when I went, probably around 7pm-ish.

        • -1

hi. is the myers gift card will only work at myers?
(not like westfield card can works anywhere)

        • +1

          just fyi:
The Coles Group & Myer Gift Card can be used at thousands of participating stores including Coles Supermarkets, Coles Central, Coles Express, Myer, Target, Kmart, Kmart Tyre & Auto Services, Officeworks, Liquorland, Vintage Cellars and 1st Choice Liquor Superstore.

  • Does anyone know what time the Amex kiosk opens tomorrow so that I can swipe my wife’s 2 cards?

    • +2

      I think it's tonight only…..

      • It's definitely tonight only. Even the DJs Amex Card Members lounge had a kiosk

        • arghh … hopefully someone who work in the city tomorrow can report back….

          • +1

@CyberMurning: Source: it's been like that every year; no need to wait for someone to work in the city. If you didn't get it pre-offered, then that meant Amex were forcing you to attend tonight's event, which it seems you didn't.

  • Girl behind me tonight at the Westfield under Myer had 10 Amexes. Only one terminal selling gift cards

    • Guy in front of me had 28….

      • How'd he pass the ID check?

        • They check your photo ID and see if the surname on all amex cards are same as on your ID. Give you a $50 Westfield card for each Amex card. Lady at the eftpos machine takes the gift cards to activate when you reach the counter

      • +1

Lady issuing the gift cards said the record was 30

        • 30*$17 free money that is crazy! a third of iphone x!

      • There was a guy in front me at Myer who had over 50 cards - weird amex approved that many

        • +1

I would bet they were not all in his name. Members of his family maybe - but not all in his name.

          • @SydneySwan: Yeah maybe - I noticed while applying a card that it allows you to choose to print either your full first name or just initial. If you have a family member starting with same initial, you’ll pass the ID check as well

            • @tghtarse: Something to bear in mind when you are naming your kids! My mother was one of 8 children - they all have a first name beginning with P. I am certain Amex was not a consideration as it issued its first cards in 1958 and they were all born well before then.

  • +1

registered at the kiosks yesterday now going to go today to buy my gift cards to avoid the rush of last night.

seems best option if not wanting to actually buy anything retail, is to go 2x westfield giftcards and 1x coles myer, then can at least use it for groceries??

This is where I plan to go:
    Myer Level 5

    WESTFIELD GIFT CARDS
    188 PITT ST
    SYDNEY

    WESTFIELD GIFT CARDS
    450 GEORGE ST
    SYDNEY

Where exactly are the westfield concierge desks? I recall one in the entry near where nespresso used to be on the Pitt st side; but where is the one on the george st side? thanks!

    • They were having IT issues this morning on both counters, ended up only buying in one of them. They said they would be fixed in the next couple of hours.

      • thanks for the heads up, where are the actual counters?

        • +4

There's one next to the microsoft store and the other one in the myer building, enter above the food court area and keep walking.

    • Did exactly this earlier with three cards.

ID’d at each Westfield and they wouldn’t split. Was super easy and took me about 15mintues all up.

  • is westfield charging fee to buy gc?

    • Yes, they always do? It's $2.95 …

  • I can't see any kiosk on Pitt St. Was it only yesterday?

    • +1

      Thursday

    • +2

yep it was yesterday now it would be closed down. It was a large black stage and queue area within pitt st mall almost underneath the overpass from myer to westfield pitt st side.

      • Thanks. All gone now.

  • Has anyone managed to find Coles Myer gift cards in Myer Sydney today? I went last night near closing and was told they'd completely sold out of them :(

    • +1

Level 5 had some a 30 min ago

      • +1

Still a small amount as of two minutes ago

        • Thanks! I might try over the weekend and see if they have anymore added..

  • Some guy bought 25 westfield gift cards with 25 amex cards…at each conceirge

  • +2

Westfield Concierge under Myer are doing taps on your behalf. Switcheroo be warned.

    • Love their consistency coz the guy earlier was tapping the 25 cards himself…dunno how one person can have so many even if it was for a business surely they wont be under his name

  • Did 8 cards at both Westfields and Myer this morning.

There were Coles Myer ones on level 5.

Both Westfield counters asked for ID, didn’t flinch when one card was for my 2yo son (I brought his passport), also didn’t mind that my father’s name on licence was his Korean name but the supplementary card I made for him was his English (not legal) name.

Did the switcheroo successfully at both Westfield counters as 4 cards were under my not-present wife and mother’s names. They took my cards to tap them but I just asked for them back and I switched them out.

  • Anyone tell me if I go on Sunday and still can register cards at kiosk in Sydney?

    • +5

The kiosk is gone; it was only there on Thursday. Amex wanted you to attend the event to use the kiosks to save the offer, which it seems you didn’t do.

      • +1

Thanks! Many people do not work or live near CBD.

        • +5

That's why the event is held at night and not during usual working hours and you had heaps of notice to make plans to attend it … I don't live near the city either (nor do I work in the city any more) but I made the effort to attend; it’s not every day DJs are giving out free alcohol (better setup than Myer, who had personalised glasses, but no one/nowhere to actually get a drink to ‘Sip, Shop, Play’)

Edit: Also whoever gave me the neg totally missed the point of this event 🙄 No wonder Amex didn’t give you the offer on your cards

          • @kerfuffle: Where was the free DJS alcohol?

            • @ihbh: In DJs … Like on Level 2 in the women's store (along with finger sandwiches, popcorn and a gelato bar)

              • @kerfuffle: Were any blokes getting freebies there?

                • @ihbh: Some, yeah. Level 1 in the men's store were also giving out hot dogs; finally got one after years of looking at the hot dog cart wanting one, but always put off by the long queue that surrounded it

  • I had to return some cloths at uniqlo. If after return, the transaction is less than $50, will the cash back forfeited?

    • Most likely. Keep us updated

    • +2

don't bring the amex and give them a different card to refund if they don't care which to refund to else just get store credit if you can buy things from them in the future

      • Thanks will try store credit. Don't want to take the risk :)

  • +1

Westfield asked for ID for physical cards but I used Apple Pay and had no issues buying multiple $50 GCs.

There's around 10 Coles/Myer GCs left on level 5 near corner checkout - had no issues buying one gift card and doing split payment. There's also some Google Play GCs.

    • +4

No more Coles/Myer GCs on level 5 currently. There are many on level 3 on the register close to Jack London section.

      • Thanks for the tip. Just got one.

    • Same. Used Apple Pay and it was quick. Looks like they had plenty practice. Happy with experience, Myers was more of a pain.

      • No, it is just because Westfield is charging you $2.95 per card.

  • I was thinking of heading into the city on Thursday to get some Westfield, Myer and DJ gift cards.

The deal says it ends on the 12/9 so I wanted to check its inclusive of the 12/9.

Not sure of my chances of getting a gift card but wanted to try my luck

    • It's inclusive

    • just be careful they dont run out of stock on gift cards, unlikely but i guess you never know. Myer level 5 was down to second last box of coles myer cards apparently, but im sure they have plenty on other counters (I just went to the main customer service desk) and had to get a "Happy Birthday" one.

  • All 3x$20 showing on the AMEX app. Thanks OP.

  • Did my gift card run at Westfield pitt and Westfield George plus myer level 5. Westfield wouldn’t split payment so each gift card $50. No confirmation emails from Amex but had signed up to kiosk last thurs. offer definitely in my amex list. Anyone else with issues not getting confirmation email instantly?

    • When did you make a purchase? In my case, email confirmation delivered following day.

      • all good, its came through now!

    • The offer disappeared from my account after the first use, but I still got the credit plus emails for the additional 2 purchases.

  • I just bought GC from Zara split over 3 cards about 20 mins back - didn't get the confirmation email.

    • +1

Think they are watching this thread as my emails just came through…good 20-25 mins after the spend.

      • same here!

  • Anyone know if you can use the Westfield gift card for online purchases? Like a visa card.

    • +1

No, it's an EFTPOS card. The point of the Westfield card is to use it inside Westfield …

      • Ah okay thanks

        • +1

Although as it is an EFTPOS card you can use it anywhere EFTPOS is accepted. You don't have to go to Westfield.

          • +1

@SydneySwan: There seems to be some places from time to time where it doesn't work, such as officeworks for some reason…

          • @SydneySwan: Yes Thanks. I was aware of that. I just wasn’t sure about using it online

      • +2

Pretty sure it's been established that you can use it anywhere that accepts EFTPOS, even outside Westfield. Online purchases probably not though, but only since they don't normally accept EFTPOS.

        • Forrester just said that Officeworks don't accept it, who also accept EFTPOS

          • +1

@kerfuffle: Looks like it has been an issue since at least 2016:
            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4317915/redir

          • @kerfuffle: https://www.westfieldgiftcards.com.au/Online/Information/FAQ

Where can I use the Westfield XS Gift Card ?
The Westfield XS Gift Card offers more choice and flexibility.

In addition to being accepted in participating retailers in our centres Australia wide, the Westfield XS > Gift Card can be used anywhere EFTPOS is accepted outside of Westfield Centres (at retailer’s discretion).

Gift Card acceptance is at the retailer’s discretion and some retailers may choose not to accept the Westfield Gift Card or Westfield XS Gift Card, including cinemas.

So yeah… if it's not accepted then that particular retailer has chosen to opt out for some reason.

  • I just did my Amex Fashion Week > Opal run.
    I am in Sydney

I got the $50 Westfield gift card from Pitt St mall.
I then went to Town Hall Station > Woolworths metro to top up.

My Westfield gift card got declined at the Opal Top up station :(

    Any other Sydney-sider experienced this?
Is Woolworths Metro not part of Westfields anymore?

I'm still glad I got $50 credit by spending $32.95, and this Westfield gift card is usable in a lot of places.
But I was set on having opal top up.

    • woolworth is never part of westfield hahaha
yeah if doesnt work, just use if for other things no one here can help.

      • There are woolworths inside the westfield, Parramatta got both normal woolworths and metro store inside the westfield store.i have in past used the westfield gift card successfully at Parra woolies but mostly i prefer using e gift cards at woolies and use westfield gift cards at Aldi or other small retailers

  • +2

Just got a Coles Myer GC on level 5 of Myer Sydney CBD, at the Myer Hub. They have about 15 left?

    • Just got 2 and still a lot left

  • Anyone know if the deal expires at 11:59pm 12th Sept?

    • +2

Yes, or rather, 9 p.m. tomorrow because no participating shop will be open after 9

      • +2

Thanks for that mate, managed to grab 1 x DJ, 1 x Myers and 1 x Westfield today from Sydney Pitt Street at lunch :)

  • -5

sorry a noob quesiton, i looked up and down on amex website but cant find the list of participating stores… so in sydney, the westfields and myers stores in the burbs dont count, only the CBD ones do?

    cheers.

  • I bought Westfield cards on 9th and haven't received the credit yet, though i received the email, has anyone else experienced the same?

    • +1

I bought on the 10th, just received 3x $20 few mins ago. Check yours again please

      • Thanks, I just checked and received the credits too.
