  • Been waiting for a decent deal for a while.

  • some of the numbers there aren't quite right

    • Which one?

      • my bad, didn't think the upgrades were inclusive of the whole system

  • why do these builds never include decent storage?

    • It's the sort of thing that you can just buy and upgrade on your own. The Techfast mentality is to offer computers with "X CPU and Y GPU at the cheapest price". Sometimes the prices you get are even better than buying the parts alone, however, those deals don't seem to come up anymore.

Well this is the same price as building it yourself with parts at retail price (that's not counting the fact that these guys might use cheap chinese imported parts). You're essentially just getting free labour. Those deals are over because they were probably just to attract costumers to their stores.

Those overseas stock parts (motherboard, low cost SATA SSD, and maybe RAM) are hard to beat in terms of price. A320M board with Ryzen 3xxx isn't easy for most people (because most of us don't have an old AMD CPU available to flash the BIOS).

Own build is fine if everything goes according to plan. This time, two of the parts I purchased had issues (RAM and power supply). It turned out to be quite consuming to bring them back to the stores and have them replaced. Also, tried to re-use an old SATA cable and it turned out to be faulty.

Also, lower cost cases are no longer as well built as they were in the past. While screwless setup for SATA devices are nice, other corners were cut. It's annoying with 1 USB 2 and 1 USB 3 front SATA ports setup when the case actually provided cables connected to 2 USB 2 ports and 2 USB 3 ports.

  • Might be worth it with the motherboard upgrade, but the link in the ebay description states that motherboard upgrade has expired.
