The LG g8s has no quad dac for Australian model . If you want that feature the V40 has it at a much cheaper price
Is the v40 worth the >$200 premium on the v30+ price that seems to crop up on ozb often? Very tempted to get v40 (the quad DAC is what makes me wanna get this but is same as in v30+) but wonder if it will come much further down in price…
At the moment no. I'm waiting for less than 560 AUD price mark to grab myself an LG v40. The headphone jack is that important to me. It will come down in price just like the LG v30+ has. It a waiting game, hopefully, next year eofy will be the time to buy a V40.
Thanks for the reply, my s7 edge starting to play up so might not be able to wait that long. Mobileciti have the v30+ for about $470 at the moment which is high considering the recent jbhifi price of $399. Reckon I'd jump on the v40 if under $600. Any chance of that OP?
@rovers4eva: LG V30+ is an excellent phone if you can get it below $430. Other than slightly faster processor V40 ain't have anything on V30+. Really happy with recent android 9 pie upgrade too and UI has improved a lot.
LG is announcing a phone that appears to have 3 displays early next month, which is believed to be the V60, and if that's the case the price for the V50 and V40 should drop.
I think the best value buy is a LG G7
Same processor as the V40 and just mildly less specs
I bought one to use purely as a music player for $300 used, compared to comparable portable solutions@ $300 cannot be beat (i would say even up to $1000 cannot be beat)

Only the Pixel 3 will really have a better camera for point and shoot. The Pixel 2 is exceptional still.

Moto G7 Plus. Highly recommend this if you are after a duel sim phone. Great value, local warranty and tax invoice.
Have bought my last 3 Moto G series (G4 Plus, G5 Plus and G7 Plus) from Mobileciti, never had any issues.
Only thing that would of been nice is wireless charging, but I can deal with not having that. Can get 36-48 hours battery off a full charge using it for both work and personal use, including 110km driving round trip to work with Bluetooth (streaming audio or listening to downloaded podcast) and GPS running.
