  • Good deal. Combined with moneyback makes it a great deal!

    • Bought one today. moneyback already showing tracking $75.66, so $1113 after rebate.

Wow, remember when my Dell 2405 was $1400.

    Great prices for geeks :)

    • I remember when my Dell 2405 was $1305. Bought it from a guy named Mr Wolf along with a few other people :)

      • Yeah, I got my first one from a special GroupBuy website setup years ago. Great (expensive) times :)

      • +1

lol, me too - Whirlpool group buy!

  • noob question…why is the huge price tag? How do these compare to a 32" LED TV? (which is about half the cost)?

    • +3

From the specs the maximum resolution for this is:

30" (76cm) display with 2560x1600 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio for clear images and exceptional multitasking

So you get a screen that has a lot more pixels than the usual standard HD 1920x1080 .

The market for these sorts of monitors is fairly small so the manufacturing costs would be somewhat higher and they can charge a premium because few people really want them.

    • +2

      Dell U3011 resolution: 2560x1600
      Average LED TV resolution: 1920x1080

Approximately 2 million more pixels is the difference, plus better colour reproduction, more inputs, and so on.

  • Doesn't stack with 4MZR3KTJJRT0VS

Removes the cash off but might get it by calling them

3rd time this deal has come round. But its still a good one, though I think one 3011 is more than enough for me.

  • Yeah, got one as well previously. Surprising how small the old 24 inch screen looks in comparison.

  • Wish I could afford one of these :(

  • +1

I have 2 and it is AMAZING MONITOR!!!!!!

Might get a third but then i will need 3x580gtx lol!

You can't go back to 23-24inch after using this beast!

Because the resolution of these are much higher, making them far better suited for desktop computing. TV's are designed to be used from several meters away, monitors not so. I wouldn't say they are comparable at all.

LOL that comment just shows how much of a n00b you are….

      a) this has twice the resolution
      b) it has better colour representation
      c) A TV is designed to be a TV and not a computer monitor
      d) DisplayPort or Dual link DVI is where it's at for large monitors, not HDMI
      e) Computer monitors rely on the speed of your GPU and the screen's refresh rate, not the Hz rating of a TV.

    • @scan06disk

      you have no idea lol!

I have a 52" samsung 3d tv and the picture quality + resolution difference is night and day

      1. at 2560x1600, it is 2x as much pixels as 1980x1080
      2. this is more suited for pc, I tried using my 52" as computer monitor but it is crap ass! ( the big screen is only good for watching movies or playing console games)

      I only upgraded from a 24"recently and it's worth the money :D

it took 3 months but i got 7% back from ireward :) $160bux from buying two of these last time Dell had a 37% off sale.

  • Hmmm…I'm thinking of selling my 2 months old refurbished U2711 and getting this. Do you think its worth it for the extra 3", 16:9 -> 16:10, and a bit more pixels? I use it for PC and PS3 Gaming. Ahh.. Idk…

    • send me a pm if you do want to sell ur U2711..

  • I'll probably get a U2410 @ $577 which is more than good for me. I'd rather buy 2 U2410 than 1 U3011 LOL

  • How often do these come up on special? Considering getting one with my tax return money, which certainly won't arrive today.

    • Its been on sale at this price 3 times now in the past 7 months :) odds are good it will be again worst case you may need to wait another 3+ moths for it to pop ug again

  • I don't quite understand why the 30" is highly desired compared to the 27". The 30" doesn't offer many more pixels. It's just bigger, meaning that the display isn't as crisp, can someone tell me if I'm wrong. Maybe I'm just misinformed.

    • because it is the biggest computer monitor with the highest res :P

      all about epeen :P

sure the dot pitch is higher slightly on the 27" but 3" is a lot!

i remember going from 22" to 24" and that felt like day and night, and that was only 2"!!!!

      • Yeah, but the reason there is a huge difference in horizontal pixels. 1680 x 1050 vs 1920 x 1080 and the price difference isn't that great. But the 27 vs 30 is 2560 x 1440 vs 2560 x 1600 for more than $300 dollars on top ($1000 if its on RRP). I guess it depends what you do on the computer really. If you do graphic design or you have the cash to enjoy it, its a different story. I'd just prefer spending an extra $300 on a new graphics card. Each to their own :) .

  • Ok, this is probably a dumb question.
I have registered to this site assuming the code will appear. This has not happened.

So. Uh where is it? :)

    • There was no coupon. It was a flat-out discount. :)

      • Was!? :(
        I hate the past-tense!

        • What sucks more is that i was waiting for a screen back when this was posted. If i had of known i would have just paid the extra $200 and got this offer :(
