  • QLED and Quantom dot same thing? For a novice, this and Samsung QLED display result will be same?

    • I altered the comments from QLED to Quantum Dot.

  • Anyone have a view on how this TV compares to others, like Sony kd65x8500g or Samsung RU8000?

FYI, If you push the salesperson, you can get the 65R8 for $1425. I've just put a deposit on mine at that price and collecting on Saturday Morning.

    • Any chance you could please upload a photo of the receipt?

      • I paid the deposit by phone so haven't got a copy of the invoice. I'll try and see if I can get one.

For $1425 there wouldn't be a TV that would come close for that price!

        • +3

Might hold out on the off chance that Good Guys update their price online to match $1495, which often propagates to their eBay store where there's currently 15% off.

          • +1

@iMagoo: If you're lucky enough to live close enough to Good Guys and can "Click n Collect", that could work out enormously well for you. Unfortunately i don't.. :-(

          • @iMagoo: Good guys will be $1495 tomorrow.

I have one on hold with delivery included for tomorrow, but ebay might be better.

            • @slikstick: The eBay code ends tonight, so I'll be keeping a very close eye on it before it expires.

              • +1

@iMagoo: Seems like TGG eBay coupon has been changed to end on the 29th of August now :)

                • @doweyy: Interesting, T&C's still say it ends tonight: https://pages.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/pguy15/

                • +1

@doweyy: As soon as the TV went $1495 on their website it went out of stock on their ebay store. According to a message from them on ebay their two stores operate on different stock levels and the ebay one ran out conveniently as the price changed.

          • @iMagoo: Or buy from good guys at full price, then get them to price beat this deal.

            • @Slo20: Yeah I did consider double dipping Good Guys price protect and credit card price protect, but it seems that Good Guys now only price protect if you purchase Gold Service.

              • +1

@iMagoo: Oh wow. So they do. I used to enjoy gaming that policy.

                • +1

@Slo20: The 120% difference is now given as a store credit rather than an EFTPOS card to be spent anywhere too. Fun's over :'(

    • Yeah, push the salespeople, I got it for $1370 from tgg, plus $55 delivery.

I could have even cancelled the delivery, and had the $55 refunded, but my mate became unavailable.

  • $1415 from Bing Lee eBay with code PIZZAPIE

    I just did a phone call and got it for $1425 with free delivery. Thanks OP, great post;

Nice Which Store, i assume you're in Tassie by your username.

  • Do you reckon chucking on 3 years product care for $195 would be a smart move? Product care has saved my bacon a few times in the past. Interested in others experience with it.

    • Ive had plenty of wins with product care over the years. I dont go past it now. Most recent claim was I Just got my money back on a 32 inch curved samsung monitor that ive used for around 4 years that developed a dead pixel recently.

      • That's impressive, did you claim it under ACL?

        • No, after the 3 year samsung manufacturer warranty runs out the product care kicks in. In my case i purchased 4 years of coverage and if it has an issue while covered by product care you have the option of a replacement (loose the remainder of product care), repair (keep the remainder of product care), of just your money back (which they try their hardest to not mention).

Hisense does come with 3 year manufacture warranty

I just ordered one of these for $1273 delivered from Videopro on Ebay this morning, I made a post here about it but got removed due to being low stock and selling out in 30mins of the 6 units they had. But did seem 1 unit gets added every so often, might be worth keeping an eye on it.

    • I couldnt get the video pro deal because i live in SA. The good thing about Harvey Normal is they are national.

      • +1

They don't deliver to SA? I paid $77 postage to Melbourne

        • +1

Their postage excludes: Adelaide Metro, Northern Territory, Perth Metro, QLD Far North, SA Regional, Tasmania, WA Regional, WA Remote, PO Box

          • @hamza23: Is it possible to publish my original deal posting from this morning as it seems it keeps going back in stock as mentioned by cooltobelou below. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/479923
TV seems to be quite popular on ozbargain recently and with 9 in stock (currently) seems reasonable

            • @cytotoxic t: Please re-post the 65R8 as a new deal now and I'll add a mod note, if we republish the original most users won't notice it.

I couldn't find the 65R7 that was also mentioned in your deal, assume that is sold out?

              • +1

@hamza23: Done, made a new post. Included the updated R7 link as well.

                • @cytotoxic t: Thanks, looks like the R7 link doesn't appear in search results as I'm in SA, other mods can see it.

The R8 includes Adelaide metro now but not regional, R7 still excludes Adelaide metro and SA regional.

    • Cheers cyto, I just ordered one from Videopro. They have 9 more in stock at the moment. Amazing deal if you don't mind waiting for shipping (it says 3-4 weeks)

      • Oh yes I see that they came back in stock, such a good deal! My original post got taken down this morning due to the low stock requirements, but maybe I should ask a moderator to put it back up since it keeps going back in stock over the day.

    • Thanks, managed to snag one

  • +2

Thanks, HN were nice enough to credit the difference I paid 10 days ago.

I'm very happy with the 65R8 so far.

    • +1

Thanks for posting this! I bought mine around 2 weeks ago and they still gave me credit for the difference.

  • +2

Beware, it’s only an 8 bit panel.

  • Are they the same one? $1196 after 20% off
    Video Pro

    • Will it drop to this price in 6 months? Or is this a great deal

    • Can you please put the code for 20% off in the comments?

      • That deal has expired
