Are you trying to push views for your video so you can monetize it?

      • +4

        Take it easy.

I'm just letting others know the amount of game content that is locked behind a pay-wall in this game by this publishing company.

        Also, its not my video.

        • +1

I am taking it easy. But maybe explain why you are doing what you are doing. Looks very dodgy just posting a video.
Plus, I think you missed the discussion and outrage over that as that was a several months ago - everyone knows by now how Rainbow Six Siege works.
Given the game made $1b over 4 years, this is nothing compared to Fortnite an others.
Or GTA V which broke the $1 billion barrier in sales in a week if I remember correctly and GTA Online makes it actually more per year (something like $400+ million) than Ubisoft makes with Rainbow Six.
So, all considered Ubisoft is neither worse nor better than any other video game company.
They are companies and there to make money. No one is forcing anyone to pay anything - you can actually get everything by playing but it will take time of course.

@Lysander: Don't think it matters whether "he missed the discussion blah blah months ago" - he's sharing information - and "everyone knows by now how RB Siege works" - no, they don't. I don't know how it works. I don't play the game. I might want to play the game. I might enjoy a free week of it and then consider buying it, but knowing there's more content hidden behind a paywall is useful to know.

Also, push views to monetize the video? The channel has almost a million subscribers lol.

Thanks @Nivlac for posting, though maybe a note on why the link is a good idea.

            • @sssx: Fine fine people, I'll start posting notes for my links now 👍

            • @sssx: Problem is there is nothing of substance behind a paywall as others have remarked.

Plus, the comment was a joke: posting a video accusing a company of trying to make money of what they created in order to monetise (the video and channel is very likely monetised with that many subscribers).

              • @Lysander: Even has a Patreon and PayPal account.

                • @SlappersOnly: Of course. Many of these people just "ride off" the back of companies or some discussion topics to make money.
People do seem to forget that gaming companies are there to make money, not to be a charity. Many of the very same people complaining would be outraged if anyone suggested they give away the fruits of their labour for very little or nothing.
I mean, the other way companies could do it is:

Have just one version available where all is included but that version is a lot more expensive than the starter version now.
For people like me who do not care about having everything this would be a very bad deal and I would probably not buy the game. However, with a cheap entry version where I can then buy additionally what I want (as opposed to what someone else decided is in the package) I would buy the game.

                  • @Lysander: Not that having a Patreon is a bad thing. I only mention it because he made a video a while back for a game I supported where he was crying outrage for Patreon supporters that they deserved a copy of the game when it launched even though a copy of the game was never outlined in the Patreon rewards.

What Type of Content is Locked behind a Paywall?

I've been playing siege for over a year now and really the only thing that i'm aware of is Operator costs which u can earn through Playing the Game, And Camo's For Weapons which u can also Purchase through playing the game although some are strictly IRL money.

Elite Skins and Etc also Cost IRL Money, Basically Cosmetics are really the only thing that is locked behind a "paywall"

          • +1

@Tehcookiemonsta: With the new update they'll be bringing out a battle pass that won't be included in the season pass.

            • +1

@rekkore: Eh it seems fair enough, i mean they have been releasing new content such as operators and maps for Free really anyway.

            • +1

@rekkore: Only cosmetics so it's fine. If it was operators, then there would be a big issue.

        • Wtf are you talking about paywall?

        • I think this is bs,like many others I bought the game a year ago and spend maybe $40-50 to unlock all characters but apart from that have since spend $0 money and i play maybe 10 + hrs per week
so the investment here is $50-60 for around 800 hrs so far and now i get enough points to buy new operators and alpha packs each season with no problem
If i bought the game at launch i could have gotten few years of spending only the initial amount and rest is free….I think they do a good job maintaining the game and any profit they make is good for the longevity of the game - no one wants to see this game turn into fortnite…
i would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes FPS games…its free for a week, try it and if you like you can buy standard pack for like $18 with all year 1 operators free, its easy to unlock year 0 ones and thats all you really need to play this game , if you get into it then spend another $30 and unlock 5 more essential ones, grind points for new ones and you are good to go

May be check the video before spouting nonsense. Its just info about the new battle pass system being added.

      • The people who negged obviously did not get the joke! LOL.

        • +4

Even if it wasn’t a joke was still a random video link with no content.

On another note, I don’t appreciate a mystery YouTube link turning into a Yongyea video. I don’t want him on my history, he’s just a YouTuber that chases the outrage.

          • @SlappersOnly: Oops. “No context”

          • @SlappersOnly: Not his joke. My joke with the comment. Complaining about Six Siege trying to make money while at the same time linking to a monetized Youtube video - trying to make money.
I agree with you. Linking to random videos without any explanation and/or context is a big no no.

            • @Lysander: Yeah I was talking about even if your comment wasn’t a joke.

  • A Ubisoft game on epic store?

    • Yes, why not?

    • Well most of the upcoming ubisoft releases will most likely be released on PC via the UPlay & the EPIC store….. seeing as their sales skyrocketed over the sale of division 2 on UPLAY. This seem to work for them profit wise. You dont need to log on to the EPIC store for the free week … just download Uplay and u can preload the game now.

  • +2

PSA: You can access the game (free to play for the week) via UPLAY directly. Not a requirement to go through EPIC store as you would have to download UPLAY either way to access the game.

    • I recall my first casual game, was defending and we got pushed, i was tracked by jackal and my phone rang…i just stood there and died…went back to t hunt and watching youtube videos about it :)

  • It’s also a Free Play Days game atm for Xbox Live Gold Members.
