+Claim GST back from TRS, if applicable.

Currentlly selling for $2,027 at OW.

I personally only paid $1,585.55 delivered (via phone call), but it may have been a mistake by the operator not adding Becextech's $74.95 shipping fee into the calculation.

Or wait 2 weeks for the next iPhones to be released and these should come down in price again.

    • 100% agreed

  • +5

How in the world can they justify $75 for postage?

    • +2

They should sell it for $1743.95 with free shipping.

    • +1

They don’t. Part of their margin is taken out of that, but by advertising a lower price initially it bumps them to the top of price search engines while they often aren’t much cheaper, or aren’t cheaper at all once you account for the postage.

  • +1

    $75 to deliver a phone???

    • +15

Not just any phone…. it’s an iPhone.

    • Apple logo engraving is worth $999. Everyone knows that

      • +1

Upvote just for ur bravery to speak against the once bitten apple 🍎 lolll

    • The insurance alone (assuming australia post consumer rates) would be more than $30. So $75 is high but not crazy.

  • Can you please share the OW $1585 invoice, you can send me in personal, if you want….

    • It’s in OP’s post…..

  • +3

    iPhone 512gb for $1819!!!!

These guys are dodgy af . Do not buy from them.

    • Just get from Office Works for cheaper then

  • +3

got one for a friend used as new condition from FB marketplace for $900 about 4 months ago, see them regular pop up around $900-1200, with 11 model weeks away dont waste your money on new at these prices, look for good condition used which still have warranty

    • I’d wait even if buying used unless really desperate. The supply will be much higher in a month or two from now and i will let you take a guess at what will happen to the demand and prices.
It won’t be 40% cheaper but at least $200 less. Depends if you can wait.

  • man office work wont match grey stock, they said these guys send overseas models, i dont know how other people get officeworks to match becetxech??

    • That's not right. Their Price Beat Guarantee page says otherwise, plus there was a post about it on OzBargain recently.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/480332

      https://www.officeworks.com.au/information/policies/price-be…

      "What about online stores?
Our Price Beat Guarantee includes products you find online - as long as the item is identical and in stock. When assessing the PBG from online stores we also take into account the added cost of delivery to your location (if any). If the identical, in stock product can be purchased and delivered to your location via an online store for a total price lower than the one we are offering, we will beat that total price by 5%.

For further information please visit your local Officeworks store and they will be able to assist you with your query."

Orificeworks can't prove whether the eBay seller has stock here in AU or an overseas warehouse unless it specifically says it somewhere in the listing or says it ships from overseas.

  • i even tried over the phone, but the rep refused saying they dont offer australian stock and australian warranty doesnt mean it is the same stock being offered

    • well of course they're going to refuse over the phone, they can just hang up on you.

  • Will be interesting to see the new models but I'm not expecting any sort of drastic upgrade from this model.

  • +3

    Officeworks shouldn't match this.

  • OP is so lucky!!

  • +1

    Not worth it, IMO.

  • +1

Just to those waiting for a big price drop, flagship iPhones don't normally drop much in price, they just get replaced with the new model

An example is the iPhone X RRP was $1,579 AUD, the last price on the JB Hi-Fi web site was $1479

Yeah you will some times see bargains but it's not normally related to a new model being released

  • whats the point of claiming trs on this if you have to declare it on the way back and cop the gst?

    • +2

You can do Family pooling when claiming TRS, if applicable.

"Bringing goods back into Australia for which you have already claimed a TRS refund

If you are aged 18 years or over, you can bring up to AUD 900 worth of goods into Australia duty-free, or AUD 450 if you are younger than 18. Families travelling together can pool this allowance (a couple with one child can bring in a total of AUD 900 + AUD 900 + AUD 450 = AUD 2250 worth of goods into Australia without paying duty or GST). This is called your passenger concession.

If the total value of the goods you are bringing into Australia that you purchased overseas or for which you have claimed a refund under TRS is greater than your passenger concession:

you must declare all of the goods

you will need to repay the GST refund back on the goods you claimed under the TRS

duty and GST will apply to all items purchased, not just goods over the limit of your passenger concession.

Penalties can apply if you don't declare that you have goods in excess of your passenger concession."

    • “Have to”

  • Thanks OP claiming price protection now

  • Got the same phone last Tuesday for $1300 cash, unopened.

    • +1

      Did you? Well done.

      • Yep had a XR64 64gb for 8 months I got for $700 sold it for $900. Wont pay apple retail prices anymore I wait till people start selling contract upgrades.

        • Isn’t it risky if the seller is dodgy and immediately reports to Apple that you stole it instead and makes an insurance claim?

          • @wtfnodeal: Can you claim unactivated phones as lost? I’m sure apple can somehow check if it has been activated and if it hasn’t, that would look so obviously dodgy.

            • @Ridiculous Panda: Yeah. Now some receipts or tax invoices have serial numbers printed on them so if yours are robbed on the way home before you get to activate them you can still go to Apple stores to show proof of ownership and request the phones be locked whenever the robbers try to activate them for the first time.

              • @wtfnodeal: lol, you really think people are waiting outside apple stores and following you home to rob your phone and then sell?

                • @[Deactivated]: Lol you really think a lot of people don't sell 'brand new sealed iPhone' and then lodge an insurance claim that being stolen?

            • @Ridiculous Panda: anyone can check first thing you do when buying a iPhone.
              https://checkcoverage.apple.com/au/en/;jsessionid=node0vzn75…

          • @wtfnodeal: a dodgy seller getting the cash and then reporting it stolen and making a insurance claim, lol, haha.

  • Just don't.

New iPhone(s) to be announced on the 10th Sep. Just wait 9 days.

    • Yeah and pay $2k plus.

    • +2

You think the new announcement will make an immediate price difference to this phone?

      • +1

Mostly the old model will drop $100 or so. The 8 dropped $100 last year.

  • Is this offer gone ?

    • Yeah sorry, looks like price went up to $1,909.
      Updated.
