What if you don't own a car?

After nothing was available from Greyhound on the Canberra to Sydney route, I bought a return trip with Murrays.

The Canberra to Sydney leg cost $5. The return leg cost $42. There was a $5 trip available from Greyhound, but the departure time did not suit.

There are more Murrays services on this route than Greyhound services.

    • This.

Murrays services are usually cheaper on this route. Especially when you book in advance. I think they have some arrangements with transfer providers to airports or something too.

  • Yep, Jetstar does not fly out of Canberra, to protect Qantas profits.

But Jetstar sells tickets from Canberra, using Murrays to transfer passengers from Canberra to Sydney Airport. Buying a bus ticket directly from Murrays to connect to a Jetstar flight costs about $2 more than buying the whole trip from Jetstar.

Greyhound is under more pressure from Murrays, as Murrays is also selling $20 tickets on the Canberra to Melbourne service.
