Teeling 24 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey (700ml) $500 @ Dan Murphy's

60

This 24 years old Teeling is part of the oldest stocks from the old Cooley stocks.
The whisky first matured in former bourbon casks and then got a finish on Sauternes casks. Limited to 5,000 bottles per batch and bottled at 46% with no chill filtration completing a whiskey of true character.

Awarded World’s Best Single Malt, 2019 at the World Whiskies Awards. It is the first time an Irish whiskey has been named as the world’s best single malt.
This might be good for wine collectors given the limited bottles and higher price in overseas market. Currently available at Dan Murphy online and some local stores. Additionally, you can request a Membership offer of $100 off.

thanks, bought 6 for the weekend to mix with coke

      lmfao

FFS, everyone knows it goes best with Pepsi Max

      • +4

        Vanilla Pepsi max

        • +5

Put ya little finger down ya chump. Vanilla pepsi max should be savored, like a fine wine - not chugged like a fine whiskey

    • +5

Bl**dy amateur whiskey connoisseurs, it goes best with Aldi cola

      • +2

oh I thought it's best with LA Cola?

      • Pffft, Fu&#@ng kids these days. Aldi cola is best mixed with a fine Port, Seppeltsfield Para Tawny Port 1979, or Aldi house Port 2019.

Whiskey is best had at hungry Jack's, abusing the refill system

    Johnny Red - unbearable crap.
    Johnny Black - crap.
Johnny Blue - not so crap.
18yo single malt - obligatory enjoyment face.

Teeling 24 - this, my friends, is where whiskey meets enjoyment parity with tap water. Great stuff.

    • +1

had jonny walker gold at the weekend, also quite crap for what you pay..

I have learned just stay away

      • +9

Only worthy Johnny is the Green, IMO. Also fairly good value.

      • Jonnie Walker 18 is rubbish for the price. I am not sure why you got voted down.

Double black is way better and way cheaper.

      • I was disappointed with the gold too, it's strong citrus flavour is bizarre

    • +4

Teeling 24 is as nice as water?

      • +2

Woah woah… Let's not get wild yet. The world of water is far more complex than a simple whiskey

    • I guess it comes down to personal preference. I still haven't acquired a taste for Single Malt - it smells and tastes like pure ethanol to me.

Before you neg - I'm aware that it takes some pallet maturity to appreciate Single Malts.

      • Cigar smoke helps.

      • It depends on single malt.

      • -1

How do you mature a pallet? Out in the bad weather? 😀

    • +1

if you enjoy it as much as tap water, I'd suggest the water is a lot cheaper.

    • +1

Wait what your tap water is on par to Teeling 24?
      Party at tshow's tonight!

      • +1

        Yeah. Everything's on tap!

  • +4

    Where's the bargain?

    • +1

You get to put $600 into your body without much effort?

      • +1

I'd argue it'll take more effort to stomach a whole bottle of this than straight cash.

Has anyone got a Teeling single malt whiskey bong?

  • Soenthing bottled 24 years back and will make u sleep u spend $600?

    • +1

Doesn't work that way. It was in a cask for 24 years then bottled.

    • +5

You are basically paying rent for 24 years, so that comes up to ~$2.1/month.

      • +2

$2.08 to be exact. I like to keep my $0.02. 😂

  • +6

Comes down to just $594 a bottle if you buy six…

    • A.k.a a free passion-pop per bottle.

  • +1

The small batch is quite a good drop for those who dont want to splash the 600 buckaroos

  • For the same price is could buy 17 cartons of Hammer and Tongs, equalling 510 cans and still have $22 change with which to buy 2 x 2L bottles of Sherry.

    • +2

Yeah but youd have to endure 17 cartons of that shit

  • " you can request a Membership offer of $100 off."

    whats this all about?

    • Used to have a Membership offer of $500 each last few weeks in store. Ask the staff to see if they can do the same price.

      • so this same bottle was for sale for $500 last few weeks ????

        • yes!

          • @danawys: damn! definitely going to try!

            • @Samsungnote10: Good luck! Let me know how it goes

              • @danawys: bummer, just tried, even half begged, promo finish 4th sep

they said they cant do it
I looked for other competitors that may have it for the same price for price match, but nothing

                bummer!!

                • +1

@Samsungnote10: Other retailers definitely have a higher price. Maybe try different stores. The staff in Alphington store vic was happy to do the same price as last promotion (although expired in 4th Sep).

                  • @danawys: thanks for that, I will give that store a call right now :)

                  • @danawys: you are a legend, they ummed and ahhed and said no problems,

I offered to buy a few if it made it easier, but they said we can do

                    AWESOME

                    • @Samsungnote10: No worries. How many bottles do they have?

                      • @danawys: the guy didnt say exactly how many, but he made it sound he had at least a case left, im assuming a case is 6

                        • +1

@Samsungnote10: A case has three bottles. Still opportunities for others!

                          • @danawys: there you go!

was this under the members offer online?

i check dans offers at least weekly and never saw it,

                            did I just miss it?

  • +2

$600 is the most I've paid for a 24 year old

    • It's cheaper than those Japanese brands. Dan Murphy's list price for Yamazaki 25 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is $5,500!! But no stock available anytime. Nicks Wine Merchants has the stock with a crazy price tag of $9,999!
