[Pre Order] Nintendo Switch Lite $199 (When Trading New 3DS XL or New 2DS XL + 2 Games) @ EB Games

80

I've not seen this deal posted here.

It is not a bad deal if you are those who have purchased New Nintendo XL at around $99 from the Amazon special.

I have been fun with my 2DS XL recently so, not sure whether I will go for this deal or not.
But, there would be some people who are interested in this. Please check the EB for further details.

So maybe big N is leaning towards phasing out the DS lines for the Switch Lite as a line successor? Then have a Switch Lite as a portable, Switch as a hybrid, and a Switch Pro as a more powerful unit in years to come? That way they can fold their divisions into one, streamline the games to run on all the consoles with differing performance between the models, and still appeal to a larger group of buyers by way of having a tiered line up?

I realise that this promotion is through EB not Nintendo but it stands to reason that if people are going to trading us their DS XL’s for a Switch Lite then the Switch Lite is presumably the successor as far as EB is concerned, who one would think have some ears to the ground as to what Nintendo are going to be doing in the future? That’s my logic anyway.

You're being too logical. It's Nintendo. If they released a new version of DS line next week it wouldn't surprise me one iota.

      • You’re probably right. I definitely agree the big N have some weird ideas.

I see this happening. Still think the pro will maintain portability as its main selling point, but as the internals shrink down and become cheaper (hence the "new" switch and the Lite itself) we will see a more efficient and moderately upgraded Switch iteration.

Ideal situation would have a 4k upscaler in the dock for more modern displays, more ram, "new" Switch length battery life and the ability to natively run a majority of games at 1080p/60fps.

I still think we may see at least an announcement for this next year

      • The way everything is going with the new PS4, and the XBwhatever, they prob need some sort of 4K implementation to stay relevant, and competitive. 1080p with 60 FPS would be awesome.

I mean if you're strapped for $88-98 it's ok, otherwise the total value of the items you're trading exceeds just buying it outright. If you got the Pokeball edition from Amazon, you'll bank ~$160 after fees and postage. The standard model probably you'll end up with $100, so that might be more enticing.

    • I wouldn't go out and buy a 3DS/2DS XL to take advantage of this, but if you've got one sitting around then this is not a bad option if you're going to get a Switch Lite anyway.

      • The title is confusing…. does it have to be a new 3ds xl or just the new model 3ds xl?

Used one. But the model should be New 3ds XL or New 2ds XL.

Never trade/sell Nintendo hardware. I did with my beloved SNES to pay for a Gameboy Pocket and have regretted it since.

    Wonder where he ended up.

My mum put my NES in a skip bin during a clean out of the house in the late 90's. The resentment I feel 20 years later is still strong.

That's a criminal act in my book! My sister lost my original Gameboy in Singapore airport I'm still bitter about it

  • This is still going, I picked up one yesterday and am very happy. My store only required 2 xbone or ps4 games to be traded as i had no 3ds games anymore. 2x$2 destiny discs sorted out that problem.

What a cool little console - good upgrade from n3dsxl in my book

  • I just took this offer with EB as you can actually preorder the new Pokemon S/S version of the Lite as well. They took my old New 3ds XL that's been through the hands of my son and 2 of the lowest trade in value 3ds games. Games used for this deal does NOT require cases or manuals or what not, they were happy to take cartridge only.

Based on the receipt, they essentially bump the trade in value of the console up toe $91 and the games to $20 each, for those that are curious about the process. Your eb rewards level does NOT affect this value as it is towards the deal.
